  • Didn't know they hit the ground going 170knots, that is nearly 200mph raw. When you factor in rotation(he was turning at the time of impact) and nose pitched downward, the impact force had to be greater than 200mph.

It had to be double or greater.

Take a look at the fuselage after the wreckage, cone shaped. That plane must have rolled several times for it to wind up in that condition. This was an instant death, they never knew they hit the ground by the time they were dead.

  • This is crap.

  • That last quote that flashes on the screen by Barb Dwyer (wife of Jery Dwyer, who owned the charter flight company and plane) is so cryptic and creepy. She's quoted as saying something very similar in a book I have about the crash but she refused to go into details with the author. Just very unsettling and haunting

  • R.I.P. Urankar3 from SLOVENIA

  • In an all too brief career, Ritchie Valens was the first Chicano rock and roll star, having his best remembered hit, "La Bamba," just one month before his untimely death with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper on February 3, 1959.

  • They were shot down from the grassy knoll

  • LOL really? I hope people out there aren't wasting their time even thinking about this. What a joke haha.

  • @overbrookXXX LOL!!!! wow!! you should write fiction novels, that's funny!

  • they died on impact so dont distract if your bitch bitch back she get bitch slap

  • Stupid!

  • any bullshit excuse to make money off the guy !

  • True story....There was a small shetland pony which was used for part of the show's opening. The pony was braught on board upon the insistence of Buddy Holly. The pony at some point panicked midflight and caused interference in the cockpit, causing the crash.

  • @plopnod what happened to the pony the threee guys were scattered all over that field where was the pony? there was no pony!

  • @APRIL62318 There was a reason this pony was used in the show. That reason being was that this was a special pony. Apparently there was only one parachute available, and the pony (despite his state of panic) had the where with all to grab the chute and jump out of the plane before it crashed.True story!

  • @APRIL62318 Put down the crack pipe and back away slowly!!!

  • @APRIL62318 - You must not be a believer in the single pony theory.

  • @plopnod

WTF are you talking about?A PONY?SERIOUSLY?ARE YOU JOKING?WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SMOKING MAN

  • Even a non-IFR pilot could have avoided this one. A quick glance at the AIRSPEED INDICATOR, VSI, RPM and the ALTIMETER would have avoided this crash regardless of the pilot's IFR ability. This is a case of no common sense. I've encountered much worse conditions in my own flying and never had these problems. May Buddy's music live forever.

  • I hope they find out what happened to the plane. May they all rest in peace

  • Lee Harvey Oswald shot the pilot from the ground causing the plane to crash killing all on board except the Big Bopper, who was equipped with a parachute and acting as an undercover CIA agent infiltrating various rock and rollers trying to squelch them and their un American troublemaking Commie ways. The Bopper is now retired from the CIA and living in Iron River, Michigan where he is the president of the Wawa Gag & Novelty Company. Whenever you buy plastic vomit you're making the Bopper rich!

  • @Bopalena LMAO!!! you have a great imagination and writing style!! that's funny shit!

  • @kerryincolumbus - Thanks! Hope all is well in Columbus.

  • @Bopalena You're welcome.. things are good in Columbus, thanks for the hearty belly laugh, I needed it! Granted, the death of those 3 wonderfully talented men isn't the least bit funny, but, your vivid imagination was the comic relief i needed after reading all the sad and forlorn comments

  • @kerryincolumbus - Humor is how I deal with not so happy things as well. Works for me!

  • Trying to make a buck off of it are you? You're scum.

  • BOTTOM LINE IS THAT RICH FLIPPED OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE AND THERE WAS A FIGHT IN THE COCK PIT AND BOOOM ! THAT WAS IT

  • @619badazz13 - Ritchie was holding a cock fight in the cockpit and one of the roosters flew into the pilot's lap and started pecking away causing the plane to crash. I have charts and graphs to prove this.

  • @Bopalena not true the what actually happend was buddy was hosting a hula contest with about 10 girls on board and in the cock pit the pilot got a massive errection witch hit the planes steering wheel causing the plane to nose dive.

  • @ericBAGoDONUTS - During the hula contest on the plane one of the girl's huge breasts pushed the steering wheel in causing the plane to crash. That's why Buddy, Ritchie, the Bopper and the pilot were found with big smiles on their faces.

  • @Bopalena

a cock fight?so wait, they were fighting with theyre cocks?wow.

  • @TheSomethingIsh - What happens on the plane stays on the small plane! And in the frozen cornfield.

  • Bullshit. Let these legends of music rest for fucks sake. This shit makes me sick.

  • @bluesatsunset dude...they're fucking dead. Like they are disturbed by comments on YouTube.

  • Dion gave up his seat on this flight...didn't want to pay the 28 bucks. Read this in a book recently.

  • Comment removed

  • @crazyromanian1

It was Tony Allsup who lost the coin toss mate.

  • @bluesatsunset Maybe Dion did too many drugs and fabricated this, but he sure loves to tell it. Recounted it on the Mike Huckabee Show and in print in a book entitiled "Amore". At least he keeps his lie consistent. anyhow it is a shame this ever happened.

  • @bluesatsunset Tommy Allsup. Crickets guitarist.

  • @nyc911oscar Eh?

  • Its interesting to read Waylon Jennings' biography and the details about the crash. He said that when ever they were in a plane together, buddy always wanted to fly the plane and would often ask the pilots if he could get behind the controls and always wondered if that night, buddy asked the pilot if he could take over and fly. He also said that the gun most likely belonged to ritchie, not buddy, as he never knew buddy or jp to carry a gun.

  • Some people say ritchie had a fight in the cock pit, some people say it was roger petersons fault, i dont know what to trust, no one knows what happened in there since everyone died.

  • buddy owed a gambling debt and was shot down by tony soprano's crew with a RPG !

  • this 911 truth group just gets crazier and crazier.

  • The day... the music... died.

    And then came the 60's!

  • That's your THEORY Black! Mine is that at -32* with a wind-chill of -68* the engine froze - just like their bus did near Green Bay 2 days before. The ground-wind took it from there as he tried to get down. Ever fly in those conditions? Well I have - so nuts to your Sperry this & that armchair theory!

  • the aliens took them from us

  • IT ,S SAD

  • Conspiracy-theory bullshit. Pilot Peterson was not IFR-rated and failed his checkride weeks before. He also had an inner ear issue the flight physical caught and he received a training waiver for. His training occurred on planes with modern gyros; the V-35 had a Sperry F-3 which operated on the opposite fashion. There was less than 1,800 feet between cloud and ground, no blizzard, light snow, conditions worsening. There was zero view of the horizon, which a non-IFR-rated pilot relies on...

  • Peterson tried to revert to his incomplete training once he saw no horizon was visible. He not only misinterpreted his Sperry F-3 but also psychosomatically set himself up to believe he was climbing, when he was descending. Spatial disorientation, the classic killer of novice pilots in IFR conditions. heading 315 magnetic, impact airspeed 170 knots at an 80-degree right bank, descent rate 3,000 fpm. All 4 aboard died instantly on impact. Those are the facts, so stop jacking off here, dumbass.

  • @SenorSpode Something must have happened inside the plane to distract the pilot. I fly myself and am IFR rated. As a satudent pilot I once got caught on top of an overcast and had to descend through 4,000 ft. of thick cloud. I had no problem. If this pilot had been paying attention to his instruments everything would have been fine. I don't buy the Sperry Gyro theory as being the main cause of this crash. We all train for this type of situation and can fly safely.

  • @65rock4ever Ever dealt with a Sperry F3? Doubt you have; very few pilots back in that day didn't, neither. It was obsolete long before Peterson's time, having been replaced by more modern artificial horizons such as those that abound today; Peterson took his IFR training in Cessnas equipped with proper gyros, this was the first and last time he relied on an F3 because he'd only flown the Bonanza in VFR conditions. Please consult the Fifties Web site for the official crash report.

  • @SenorSpode I don't know about Peterson's skills, but my great grand, luftwaffe pilot in the 2ww, tells me the first rule a pilot must get clear from the begining is always to trust your instruments and NEVER believe or think something else, like you are flying upside down, or climbing or descending. So Peterson was an imprudent pilot who murdered the 3 singers by negligence.

  • @SenorSpode The same people that killed MLK killed these singers -

  • @SenorSpode Agreed! This is just another Dale Gribble finding something to call his own while Sug's out getting her headaches healed by John Redcorn! Here's the conspiracy, spatial disorientation!

  • niggers got em

  • @nategotti76 "niggers got em"... LOL!!!!!!!! alright!! someone that knows the GD truth, at last!

  • The investigation stated total pilot error. The plane itself was found at no fault. It had been well maintained. No conspiracy!

What is more tragic is that the rule to notify next of kin first was not followed then and the families heard it over the media. It caused Holly's wife to miscarry due to shock. The rule changed but that did not help Holley's wife who lost it all. He was only there because his mngr was cheating him out of royalties. He needed the money. So sad.

  • i think what realy happen on that fight is , holly was probly drunk and was playing around saying he wants to fly the plain , there was a struggle and boom that was it

  • I heard that Gary Busey did it to nail down at least one acting role.

  • I never really thought of it like their could have been a plan to take the lives of these 3 people like that, I think this is all a bunch of BS and these people are making up shit. Just stop with the conspiracy bullshit and live your lives. RIP Ritchie, Buddy and Bopper

  • Actually, the pilot WAS using a gyroscope but it was a "Sperry" which gives reverse sensing from a normal artificial horizon used in more modern planes. Also, weather conditions were perfect for rime wing icing. As previously stated, this was nothing more than a stupid decision by the pilot.

  • No This world not have happened if Richies Brother didn't Rip off His Lucky Necklace and richie Had Nightmares Of This!

  • the only people that can tell what truly happened that night, died that night, plain and simple. It's an unfortunate aspect of incidents such as this, another unfortunate aspect, is the people who feed off "Conspiracy" and "What-If's".

The men died a tragic death, leave it alone.

  • @KingOfTheClutch People also forget that planes of the 50's don't have warning alarms or back-up systems incase the primary gets locked down/ hydrolic gets disconnected. It also could have been an ice build up on the wing or the rudder control that made the plane uncontrolable. I know many flyers who won't fly in blizard conditions....just to many risks!

  • @5inthehole Correct, its unfortunate, that it takes loss of life for people think "Well, improvements are in order" and they fix 1 or 2 problems, These things, whether it be a car, plane, train or even a bicycle, are only as good as those who designed and made them, we are only human, safety is in MIND, but sometimes tragedies are the only way to prove a flaw in the equipment.

The flyers you know....are smart, common sense can avert a LOT of accidents in life, and save lives in the long run.

  • @KingOfTheClutch Yep you hit it on the head. People sometimes forget that for all our technological advances, there is still a human being at the controlls with all the frailties that come with the species. In other words, no matter how good the plane is, don't press your luck in bad weather! As Charles Bronson said in the 1972 movie The Mechanic, "Dead sure, or dead".

  • No mystery to this. The young pilot was unfamiliar with the instrumentation on the plane, having learned to fly using a gyroscope, which that plane did not have. Sounds like an attempt to sell a book. There are always conspiracy stories being bandied about. It wasn't a blizzard either, just some light snow. The pilot thought he was ascending when actually he was descending. Because of the storm and lack of visible lights on the ground he could not tell where the horizon was. Very sad. :(

  • @Cissy2cute "spatial disorientation" is the term you're describing. It's the same affliction that caused John F. Kennedy Jr.'s plane to crash into the Atlantic ocean 40 yrs. later.

  • @AmerikaBlue - Right. Couldn't think of the term. It must be such a weird and scary sensation.

  • @Cissy2cute What's really puzzling about why conspiracists find this tragedy a topic of discussion is that the crash was thoroughly investigated shortly after the accident took place. But they (ct 'ers) always seem to wait until the grass has grown over the graves to start hatching this crap. Dissent is healthy, but it has to be ACCOUNTABLE. They need to be held to the same standard the FAA investigators were held...beyond reproach. But they don't play that way and never will, sadly. Good Post!

  • @conductorinblack - When it comes to celebrities, sensationalism seems to trump reason every time. It's so hard to believe that after so many years the Big Bopper's son felt it necessary to exhume his father's body because of some ridiculous theories. How traumatic that must have been for him :(

I too believe that in some cases there is reason for questioning an official story, but this certainly is not one of them. May they all RIP.

  • No one will ever know what happened. The owner of the flight service has his story, but he was immediately faced with legal issues, thus adding a conflict of interest to his testimony. The flight was so brief it was basically the equivalent of a car pulling onto a highway and crashing immediately into a tree. Senseless, meaningless, and tragic. We'll never know the reason.

  • well point my friend!

  • Even an instrument-rated pilot such as myself would not have atempted a flight through those weather conditions. This is nothing more than total stupidity by the idiot who was responsible for this crash.

  • @65rock4ever - Please see my other reply. Only light snow was falling at the time. It was the fact that it was cloudy and hence the pilot could not see anything, such as stars, to let him know where the horizon was and what position he was in. Also the late hour. No house lights were on, which would also have helped him determine his position.

For those interested, the book "The Day the Music Died" by Larry Lehmer is recommended. Just the known facts without sensationalizing anything.

  • It is strange that certain artist die at pivotal moments in history why? Who knows. All I do know is the greats never last very long so they must be here just visiting or on loan!

  • @wcbombers21 Na. They just become great when they die. Look at Heath Ledger. Before he died people wernt saying he was a great actor. Now hes one of the best ever.

  • @jimmybonez1985 i have to agree with that. im not saying Heath Ledger sucked, but he was not as great as people or the media make him out to be.

  • the truth has been told........FAA accident report. Plane crashes....4 die. Tough but life can be a bitch...... RIP buddy......

(i would like to know where the wreckage is..Dwyer knows)...hidden somewhere.....

  • Garbage. Absolute Horses**t. The cause of the crash was an inexperienced pilot with a visual flying rating attempting to fly an aircraft using instruments. The weather conditions warranted use of instruments but pilot Roger Peterson wasn't qualified with an instrument rating and had failed FAA examinations which determine whether or not a pilot properly understands how to use them. Bodily trauma caused by hard impact was the cause of death for all onboard. Read the FAA accident report...dummy.

  • @conductorinblack he also ignored the weight limit since it was a small plane he had to much luggage and that includes the passangers so the plane got about 50 to 100 feet and went down

  • @lonerguitarboy2 Good Point! According to one eyewitness (Mr. Dwyer, I believe, the owner/operator of Dwyer Flying Service, the company the flight was chartered on), the plane turned towards the Northwest to put it on a heading to it's destination, Fargo, North Dakota. But instead of a banked turn and ascent to gain altitude, the aircraft did a steep descent. Roger Peterson didn't understand his instruments and, yes, his aircraft was weighed down.

  • @conductorinblack Those guys didn't even know what hit them. It was snowing like hell and put everything you've just stated here with it.

  • @StanBennet What's even more galling about the whole deal Stan is the fact that J.P. Richardson's son undertook an exhumation of his late father's remains to quell a Conspiracy Theory claiming that a gun was fired inside the cabin of the aircraft and was the cause of the accident. No evidence (ZIP...NADA) of gunshot wounds were found on Mr. Richardson in this second, unfortunate Autopsy.

Heavy snowfall, an inexperienced pilot and a weighed-down airplane. One cause alone would be enough...

  • @conductorinblack

The plane they died in was a Beechcraft Bonanza. It only had one engine. The pilot Roger Peterson was indeed not passed to fly in instrument only weather. The owner of the plane just wanted the contract fulflled. Result, 3 dead popstars and one dead pilot

  • @StanBennet small planes in inclimate weather just might not do well. Even with advancements in the technology, people still die regardless of the size/complexity of the plane. It all comes down to the factors of experience, maintenance, weight, and weather conditions just to name a few. And mistakes can still be made. You could have the safest plane built ever along with a costly pilot error(s) which kills everyone. Hope something was in fact learned and for the better after the '59 crash

  • @conductorinblack - Some of these conspiracy theories are really wacko. The cause of this crash was no mystery. I also think that the young pilot may have been a bit excited about who his passengers were. What young man wouldn't be, realizing he was going to transport these idols? I feel so sorry for everyone involved.

  • That is most likely what happened but Buddy was known for wanting to take control of things and its possible he talked RP into letting him try to fly/it was duel control... A theory but God only knows.Regardless it was a huge loss for so many, for music as a whole... So many questions/so many unanswered..Why the hell were they not given vehicles that were at least working properly. They wouldn't have had to charter a flight , oh and by the way. Didn't anyone check if RP was instrument rated @all

  • @conductorinblack

    Exactly

It was not the first (or last) time an inexperience and over confident pilot tried to fly IFR when he only had an VFR ratijnng kiiling themselves and any passengers.

  • the sucks

  • w 0:28 słychać strzały!!!

  • What a load of crap.

    Plane crashed, guys died.

    Live with it.

  • @djsuploaded shut up piece of shit that where rock n rollers one of the biggest men there ever where!

  • @djsuploaded

shut the fuck up, before i make you my bitch

  • Dumb...

  • flagged as spam, mass advertising

  • The pilot wasn't certified to fly on instruments alone. Due to the poor weather conditions, instruments are all he had and he flew the plane into the ground. Why is this garbage even here? The coroner's report on Buddy Holly states his skull was split medially with about half of the brain issue missing. It also states a soft consistency to his chest due to extensive crushing. He died in a plain crash - there is nothing else to know. I don't know why someone's stirring shit up.

  • bullshit

  • The weather was unfavorable, but not prohibative. Have read much about the crash from the CAB report. Put the cause to pilot error

  • find out what the weather was that day. did the conditions promote frost on the plane? should the pilot have risked flying? did other planes takeoff that night?

  • @khublakhan67

This is a bid for money. They know the reason for the crash, the poliot wasn't familiar with the navigation equipment on the plane and read the artificial horizon wrong leading to him flying that plane right into the ground.

  • today I feel sadness in remembering the untimely death of Ritchie Valenza, his music was forever in our ears.

  • they were shot down by a UFO

  • @619badazz13 I heard one of those flying pigs jumped up from his pen, hit the propeller, and wrecked the plane. The neighbors had bacon the next day!

  • @5inthehole hahah ya ill but that for a dollar

  • @5inthehole LMAO!!!!! who knows, that could very well have been the reason!

  • @619badazz13

    BULL

    SHIT

  • @radioguysbrother what realy happen is buddy was drunk and tryed to take over the controlls and there was a struggle and they crashed

  • @619badazz13 they're was a bad snow storm and the pilot was inexperienced and went down when he wanted to go up and crashed that way

  • @radioguysbrother hey bro it sucks what happem but thats what i think happen , buddy was drunk tryed to take over the controlls and boom that was it .

  • @619badazz13 ok thats ur opinion

  • @radioguysbrother ya thats what i realy think what happen , or richie flipped out and wanted off the plain wich caused the crash

  • @619badazz13 you are absolutely son of gun fucker. your grandfather must be fucking ufo
