Yeah.....I agree with Wolverinefan24. You cant judge these two from this as Denard was running the #1 offense against the #2 defense and Tate was running the #2 offense against the #1 D!!! Much easier for Denard to make flashy plays and not so easy for Tate to be able to do what he needs to do with the second string O guys!!
based on this vid and denards..i would say that denard should be the starter. ive been a tate guy since we started recruiting him. but this wasnt impressive, and denards was
Youd think hell look crispy clean and ready to lead any offense 1st string to 7th string but dam Tate lookn drunk at times..wth..no explosion 1st step, reads are slow and that ball security is gona get him scrambling with his arm all wavn around ( rem the ohio st in zone bulll shit scramble smh)
After watching Denards video, then this one, man Tate still looks raw and sloppy. I am a Tate fan, but after watching videos of both DR is wayy more comfortable running this offense. Tate still cant run the read option either, man he is bad at that play, it looks like he just "guesses" who should keep the ball, instead of actually reading players actions on the D. I dunno DR looks more progressed from last season than Tate, hope Im wrong tho, cause tates got a damn cannon!
fuck all of you guys, Tate is the shit future masoli without the robbing and stealing, everyone loved this dude then he hurt his shoulder against indiana, fuck we were 4-0 and back to normal with him healthy and we're talking about a freshman here, you know what fuck it i'm gonna let little man tate shut you fuckers up for me peace!
At 1:15, on identical back-to-back plays, Mouton runs right into the line instead of attacking the gap where the RB is coming through, leaving Kovacs 1-on-1 to make the tackle. I hope this isn't what these LBs are "supposed" to do. This defense still scares me.
I'm sorry but the whole first string vs second string argument isn't true. Yeah, In general Tater had less talent than DeNard dogg, but that's besides the point. Tate was working with Cox, Roundtree, Stephen Hopkins, Odoms, Lewan, Schofield, Washington, and Barnum; All either starters or at least decent players. And on the defensive side Renaldo Saggasse, Tony Anderson James Rogers... Kevin Leach. "Leach started last year" Shut up.
Point is it was 70% starting D vs 70% Offensive scrubs.
Maybe in the NFL. He doesn't have the speed to be in this offense all the time. I'm not critical of him, though, as any player who can steamroll Jordan Kovacs gets the nod for short yardage in my book. He's also a very articulate, well-spoken young man.
True, I guess what I should have said that he won't just be limited to being a career short yardage back. He could eventually become a starter or co-starter
@welchce i do highly underated, look for him and V. Smith to tear up the 2 back shotgun spread in a year or two, power and speed the defense will be shook!
compare the amount of time each quarterback had in the pocket before the d line broke through. Nearly every play, someone missed their block against forcier, but against denard, there was little pressure for usually 4 or 5 seconds
@downeyfan20 "tate was throwing balls into triple coverage"
but most of those throws were safe throws near the side line that never could have resulted in turnovers. It seems like tate was making fewer dumb mistakes then he did last season. And besides, he completed several of those dangerous throws. His accuracy is STUNNNING. The int that Mike Jones dropped was really the only time Tate came close to a turnover.
Again, I can't believe I'm agreeing with you. I'm still not sold on you, but you seem to be far more optimistic than usual. Keep it up.
You're right, not all throws into coverage are equal. Tate made sure the defenders would have to make SportsCenter-caliber plays to cause turnovers. Not like he got a lot of time in the pocket anyway.

I think tate should start or at least get more playing time

Issues
Denard went against 2nd team defense with 1st team offense
Tate went against 1st team defense with 2nd team offense
Take that into account.

Please keep in mind that whether it be the first or second string, it is still the Michigan defense after all.
