soooooooooooo much better than the Tudors. ok i refer this period in general, but either way you look at it the stuff the Roman culture offered for television stories was just better than the Tudor period which has had soooooo many other (more accurate) films/tv shows. sure there have been alot about Rome too but we don't know them as well as the Tudors. Henry has 6 wives cos he wants a son. gets 2 daughters then pits pay dirt. kills some divorces others,has tiff with the church. we know this...
@227060 ....but in Rome in additon to great and more accurate stories and acting from the cast we get original characters who are honest to god BAD ASS. Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus kick ass hard. it baffles me when people say the Tudors is better bcos Rome is all sex. have you seen the Tudors? Also the Romans were open about it anyways being pagans so it actually made a bit mroe sense.
@Danorowski Maybe next time tho, or maybe I'd just save up some money to buy myself. My father just used a lot of money and I wouldn't want him to waste any more, for now at least. :P

@HistoryLover1550 dreamcast is pretty good - don't think they'll be able to get a cast that prestigious but it would be interesting to see some of them in the parts. I liked your choice of Colin Firth - interesting note is that Derek Jacobi was in King's Speech as a little homage to playing a stammering Claudius in the original.
@slurms625 It was notoriously expensive, and the BBC (who collaborated with HBO) couldn't afford a third series. The second half of the 2nd series was rushed with huge time gaps because they knew they had to finish it. Originally season two was going to be slower and end at Philipi, with 5 seasons in all. Oh well, there is at least a movie in development for it, so all is not lost.

I just miss this show so much. I've heard rumors, even from the actors involved, for years about a movie. I hope that one day it gets done.

HBO is reuniting with Rome producers to do a remake of "I, Claudius" I've read, I'm sure it will be a worthy successor to "Rome".
