My dream could become a reality! I have always wanted to fly for BA, I start my PPL training soon and am going to start GCSE's soon. This was a great video and gave me a lot of information!
"enables anybody from any background, regardless of there financial circumstances to pursue their aspiration", i think he meant to say " regardless of there financial circumstances, just as long as you happen to have £84,000 lying around for a deposit"
Lol .. future pilot program enables anybody regardless of financial ... um .. no ... small print ... deposit of 84k required. I don't think that 'anybody' can do that. (Me included)
"5 x GCSEs A-C including one science" - it troubles me greatly that someone could be in command of a commercial aircraft without so much as a GCSE or A level in physics.
I'm a flight simulator engineer, I know the Airbuses back to front and upside down with thousands of simulation flight hours, I wouldn't apply for the simple fact that I don't have access to the kind of funds/bonds required to secure a position. You would think that being on the 'inside' of aviation you may be able to 'pull strings' ? .... Wrong ! And its a shame, because there are millions of good suitable people out here, who are held back by one thing..... Money, Good luck to all, let's get
@kunkundhindsa You need 5 GCSE's grade A-C and thats it. A-levels are a bonus if there are many pilots all wanting the same job as you will stand out and the degree definetly isnt needed. :)
@kunkundhindsa You will be required to have 5 GCSE's (A-C) grade, including maths and a science, preferably physics, and 2 (A-Levels), again in maths and physics. Another qualification which would be useful is a degree of a HND, but this isn't a direct requirement. Also, it is good to have some experience, such as joining cadets from a younger age, or more physical hands-on experience via. private flight training. The 'DOE' award is also worth considering.
@kunkundhindsa i see they responded to you but yet they could not answere your question on here, gotta make you get on there site get those hits make that money.
I love aeronautics, but I have a degree in chemical engineering. What a wonderful invitation by British Airways. I hope all of you aspiring pilots the best of luck!!!
Sounds a bit too easy to me - I went to a presentation by a pilot training company at Heathrow, and they said you need to have a science degree - and that you need a minimum deposit of £30,000 just to get started. They also said there is a future global shortfall of pilots but I'm not sure I believe them to be honest. This is a path I'd like to pursue but I don't feel confident either economically (taxi driver) or academically (no A levels). Perhaps I will just stick to light props.....
Hello, @FlyBritishAirways I'm interested in starting my career as a pilot in June / July. Initially I intended to take a degree in aeronautical sciences in Portugal, but now I got interested after seeing this video.
What do I need since I have not started any specific course to be a pilot?
I wanted to be a pilot long time ago hence the youtube name, with 85,000+ Simulator Hours in 737's 747's 777's But I have a neurological disorder so that exludes me out. :(
I am currently 14 and may be doing a recreational pilot course, hoping to get a scholarship into a scholarship at age 16 into a school offering a PPL course, then going into university/college to do a 3 year Bachelor of Aviation with CPL plus IR, and frozen ATPL plus IR. I probably will have to buy an aircraft to get my 1500 hours, then stay on regional airlines, but I would love to work for BA.
Airlines that make videos like this seem to be very welcoming, thanks!
@GoingToBeAPilot1 you really got a strange name my friend, dont expect to much my friend. Dont think just because you got 1500 hours companies will hire you. My friend payed over 100 000 dollars and he currently dont have a job now. Tell me about your grades too
Hello BA, I'm currently a student in Singapore (with a British passport) and I'm doing the IB diploma instead of the A levels. I was wondering, do you take other international academic achievements such as the IB when people apply?
This is definitely the path for me. I have a passion for flight and have the highest personal standards for everything I do, and the up-most respect for my peers. I will certainly be applying once i'm 18 this October! :) To fly, to serve!
A lot. I knew a pilot who flew right over to the USA and payed $80,000 to get his license for the UK. He then found it quite difficult to find the job afterwards and the Airline offered him very low wages since he was a begginner pilot.
I did Cadets in Canada. Got my licence at flying club. I didn't touch University or College and I have been Captain on a King Air and 1900D for 4 years now at the age of 28. Next month I will be going on a Jet. Don't waste your time and money going to the overpriced colleges. Oh and you'll have to leave the UK.
The advert has been uploaded on YouTube as well!! Great, now I wonder how they gonna choose 400 out of millions applications for the future pilot programme?
how can anybody from any background regardless of finances become a pilot
i want to be a pilot but i'm from the abusive children's homes in ireland with nothing and no support i don't mean to sound smart but how can i do it - i can't get funding thanks
@krugerfuchs Hi. We cannot answer specific enquiries here, but if you check the FAQ section on the Future Pilots website (bafuturepilot), you will hopefully find the information you need there. Thank you, and good luck.
@krugerfuchs I had to fund my own training, i got a fulltime job and went to a local flying club and flew evenings and weekends with no help from my parents or the banks, it may take a year longer depending on how much you fly and how hard your willing to work but you graduate debt free which will be a huge advantage when looking for work :)
Hello BA :), Im currently 16 (going on 17 in August) and I noticed its only available to 18-55 Year olds - with the scheme being over 5 years will you be accepting so many applicants per annum over the 5 years, or is it just this Febuary? Thanks
I once dreamed of being an locomotive engineer for Norfolk Southern. It's the fourth biggest railroad company here in North America for those who never heard of it before.
hi there, i saw on the ba fpp website that a security bond of around 85,000 pounds is needed for the program, but that a loan can be used by british airways through their partner bank. Are international applicants eligible for this loan? Thanks :)
One thing you notice about this job is all the airlines have relatively small fleets compared to the amount of people on earth. It gives you some idea about how few positions are availible.
I'm currently 15 years of age. I am doing flight training at the moment in Australia and am hoping to soon get my Student Pilot's license. From here I plan to continue on and successfully obtain a PPL and CPL. Therefore to be able to eventually make my life long dream come true and fly for a world class airline such as British Airways from First Officer to Captain and eventually to the B747 aircraft would be an achievement i'd treasure for ever! I am only 15 and I am already looking forward to my aviation course in college next year and my 3 years of flight training at university and then eventually fly as a British Airways Pilot! I would love for that one day, in about 5 or 6 years time, I will also be carrying the phrase: "To Fly, To Serve" It's my dream and it will be my dream no matter what.
slow down guys don't dream to much, I need a couple of months to complete ATP(L) and is very hard to find a job, really hard, all companies are asking for at least 1500 flying hours to apply as a first officer. Etihad Airways had the same program but the entry test and the requirements are very difficult. There is the other option that you pay for your school you can do it in oxford aviation but there is no guarantee that You will have a job after and the price is twice a normal school..
hi there, i saw on the ba fpp website that a security bond of around 85,000 pounds is needed for the program, but that a loan can be used by british airways through their partner bank. Are international applicants eligible for this loan? Thanks :)
I got a job two years before my flight training started so i could afford flying and now I'm in training and heading quickly towards solo, but i have a few questions :)
#1 as i live in Australia, i have found that i need a vce score of 89 to be equivalent to the British GSCE requirements, if i get above or at this score am i eligible.
#2 if money holds me back from immigrating to the UK, does British Airways hire aviation degree holders from overseas?
@kyleacepilot Hi - you can information on qualifications required on the bafuturepilot (dot) com website. British Airways is open to applicants from all countries. Thank you.
I thought the days of cadetship type schemes were over!! So great to see this!!!! Might see you guys next year if my plans of getting into the RAF fall through :D
I heard British Airways are now only taking on 400 new pilots because of the proposed rise in APD, will this affect how long the programme will run? I ask because I will be eligible to apply in 2014 and have previously seen that the programme will run up to 2016, but I imagine that this change will mean the programme will be shortend since less trainees are being taken on...
Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
@matthewanti Hello - the figure quoted related to total new employees at British Airways, not just pilots. There are currently no plans to make any changes to the programme. Thanks.
i was just wandering whether you could clear this up. Does the student have to secure the 84,000 before training and it is repaid back on top of the f/o salary by ba or is it the other way around meaning the f/o will get a reduction in salary to pay for the cost of training. thanks in advance
when you think about the thousands of applicants they recieve for a small amount of positions it makes you wonder how they decide on who to give the position to.
Is this recruitment only for people from United Kingdom? If not I will apply as soon as possible, btw I am now studying math engineering in Romania, but all my life wanted to fly for her majesty's fleet!]
I can't wait to become an International Airline Pilot! I may be a student still in high school and focusing on college applications, but this airline is one of the top names of Airlines that I want to work for when I graduate from flight school. I want to see the world and make memories that I will never forget! :D I can't to wait to be guy in the captain's uniform and sailing through clear, blue skies with my co-pilot and stewardesses...and own a BMW. ;)
If BA can sponsor me from Canada and offer me a conditional acceptance, I will surely move to the UK and fly for you guys. I am not trying to become an average pilot, I want to be the best and I know that I will be the top pilot in my class. PM me and I can give you my email to further discuss this. You wouldn't want to miss out on me. What ever airline I fly will be my family, and I'l never let my family down. You know what to do.
Hi there i was just wandering whether the figures have been released on how many people applied to the fpp, just to see what the chances are of being picked. thanks
Hi, this may be a first i don't know, however i'm really interested in becoming a pilot as im so into aviation. Im at uni studying a degree in art. I want to get a PPL, but have been thinking about going one step future to become a commercial pilot. Would an Art degree halt my chances of entry or boost it , seeing as ill hopefully have a degree. ill b 24 when i leave. Thanks.
I've been thinking about become a pilot ever since I was at school. The careers advisor gave me some advice on this but I never got around to doing anything about it. I'm currently working as a manager in a restaurant, but have no intention of staying in this profession. Would it be worth going for a few trail lessons at my local airport? Or maybe even pursuing a PPL?
@scarlaton1 If you want to fly airlines, I suggest getting a degree. This trade is a highly competitive trade. You have to show how you are different than the many other applicants. Go to a flight collage/university.
This video made me fell that could be me because I am 14 years old and in 5 years time I would be 19 so I could have a lucky chance to be part of the ba team. All I go to do is study.
Hey guys. As a mayor airline in Europe you have to fly the A 380. I saw your 777 in Sydney next to the VH-OQI A 380 from Qantas. Hard to believe that both planes could fly SYD-SIN-LON but the comfort on board ? More space and less noise in the A 380 on a 22 hour trip. When will you get your 1st A 380 and send it to down under ?
@fablehottie Hi, there isn't a college that offers flight attendant courses. You'll need to apply via britishairwaysjobs[dot]com there's more information about our cabin crew at beoustanding[dot]co[dot]uk
this video has helped me realise my dream for flying for British Airways can become a reality. I have started training and almost going solo soon :) hopefully with enough study and work at school and at flight training i'll be able to get into this magnificent program :)
@hen555 You'll need to have the right to live and work in the UK. Please see the description above for more information including the link to the website
I am 15 and being a pilot has been a my lifelong ambition. I was just wondering what the age restrictions were because i was thinking of applying for this after ive left school.
How old do you have to be to be able to be recruited by British airway because I am 15 and I would like to be a pilot but like you said it is only for 5 years so I don't know if I would have to go to collage or university
hi ive been looking at the CTC wings programme since july, but want to wait for this, am i looking at weeks, months or even years until this programme reopens? thanks
Contd : Research on new-age aircrafts, also flown a two seater cessna 152, a large group of friends who are pilots & Fa's to 180+ hrs on the Microsoft sim with 75% type rating on the Boeing 737-800, Will my dreams to be a pilot at BA still fall as an eligibility as I am an Indian Citizen and no UK work permit yet.....I feel if you rank my enthusiasm to be a Pilot : I would fall within the top 10 aspiring Pilots without a doubt.
I have been an aspiring Pilot for 10-12 long years but due to menetary reasons was'nt able to pursue the beautiful career, I am 33 now & work for a fortune 20 organization, Since this last decade, I have only dreamt airplanes in all its possible ways, from a Scaled model collection, Aviation analysis on growth markets,
I'm about to finish a degree in Physics this year - will I be able to find out about the costing, necessary qualifications and the traits you look for in an individual on your website?
@supercaca12 You need a JAA Frozen ATPL if 18-21, 21 and over I think you'll need a full license. You need the right to work and live in the United Kingdom.
When I was 7 we was in Orlando trying to get back to the UK. A Hurricane was approaching and something stopped our plane from taking off. However we heard a pilot was trying to reach us so we waited. Late at night, rain battering the windows, I was looking out and saw a plane arrive. The rest had already parked up because of the storm and the runway was silent. The pilot walked in and told me I was going home on the last flight, that I could sleep and would be safe. That was British Airways.
I would absolutely love to be a pilot for British Airways. Im 15 right now, 5 months away from sitting my GCSE's, can you please tell me the grades which I need to get to become a future pilot for BA. Much appreciated. :)
@finestudios thank you massage. i am 29 year old i have never fly planes before but I with love to learn to fly. Do British airways training pilot like my self
I too (like many top comments) am 16 (nearly 17) and working on my PPL already, but would like to know if in 2 years time (when I'm out of College) will this still be offered as I'm deciding on whether to go for this or apply to university (my parents are giving me either choice). Also check out the video of my most recent BA flight on my channel
My biggest dream is to come a pilot, im 13 years old im pracetising flight simulator everyday so i can learn the buttons.

Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
matthewanti 2 months ago
@matthewanti Hello - the figure quoted related to total new employees at British Airways, not just pilots. There are currently no plans to make any changes to the programme. Thanks.

hi
i was just wandering whether you could clear this up. Does the student have to secure the 84,000 before training and it is repaid back on top of the f/o salary by ba or is it the other way around meaning the f/o will get a reduction in salary to pay for the cost of training. thanks in advance

Sincerely,
HB

Hi, this may be a first i don't know, however i'm really interested in becoming a pilot as im so into aviation. Im at uni studying a degree in art. I want to get a PPL, but have been thinking about going one step future to become a commercial pilot. Would an Art degree halt my chances of entry or boost it , seeing as ill hopefully have a degree. ill b 24 when i leave. Thanks.
FilmFanatic1231 3 months ago
I've been thinking about become a pilot ever since I was at school. The careers advisor gave me some advice on this but I never got around to doing anything about it. I'm currently working as a manager in a restaurant, but have no intention of staying in this profession. Would it be worth going for a few trail lessons at my local airport? Or maybe even pursuing a PPL?
scarlaton1 3 months ago
@scarlaton1 If you want to fly airlines, I suggest getting a degree. This trade is a highly competitive trade. You have to show how you are different than the many other applicants. Go to a flight collage/university.

Kassowar65 3 months ago
@Kassowar65 Hi, we're scheduled to receive the first A380 in 2013. We don't know which routes it will be operating yet.
