Mary Anne Hobbs is clearly an unsophisticated fool who doesn't really understand music at the level that is required to be able to comment on Pink Floyd. Earlier in this documentary she compares the Floyd to Deep Purple... are you fucking kidding me Deep Purple? They were a fine band but Pink Floyd were a completely different level musically, lyrically and conceptually. Anyone who thinks brilliant prog rock like The Wall is bloated is just not smart enough to appreciate layered concepts

She didn't compare Pink Floyd's MUSIC to Deep Purple, she compared their level of success to Deep Purple...and The Wall IS a bloated prog rock record. That's why it's awesome. It's not like she called the album shitty. I mean, yeah, her accent's annoying as all hell but people act as if she's slandering the record when she's doing no such thing. Pink Floyd are my favourite band but I'm fairly certain even Roger himself would admit that it's a pretty heavy-handed record.
