It's human. U kno, in Christina Aguilera's early life, her peers became so jealous of her that they'd frequently subject her to ridicule, ostracism, n, in one gym class, attempted assault. For "Mrs. Singing Accent" from HK(aka: bibifever, lafaipaul): u don't have to change alias in order to stop Jane from singing English songs out of ur heart-wrenching jealousy. U've made urself a laughing stock by creating this ridiculous concept of "Singing Accent," or "SING with a heavy accent" or whatever. I don't know how many aliases u'r going to use. Now, Zhang's accent is not obvious when she is doing studio versions. She's improved A LOT. I've been saying that she has all the qualities of an international artist - all it takes is to work on her accent if she is to sing in English. The Olympic song "Embrace in Love & Dream" with Andrea Boucelli-near perfect English-just let off by the proununication in "name" where the 'a' was pronounced "er" & not "ae", & some other very minor areas. She is gd enough we need not be deaf to her weaknesses.

Do u sing urself? Are singers allowed to adjust their mouths as required by registers n pitches? I would put it this way n I take full responsibility for my statement: while Jane does SPEAK with a discernible accent, both English n Mandarin, she has no detectable mispronunciation when singing either in Chinese or English. I had wished that she'd do English numbers with an Asian touch, just like Madonna with an Iberian touch, but unfortunately, she doesn't, except for her face.

For those who have watched the competition they would know why Jane Zhang did not win. For the final 3, the position was determined 100% by the no. of votes they received. The judges had no influence. Chris Li got the most votes, Bibi Zhou got the 2nd most, and Jane Zhang got the least votes amongst the top 3. So the positions were a reflection of their popularity during the competition.

There could be two reasons: (1)not many chinese appreciate English songs which are Jane's strength, so the source of her votes is limited to people who can appreciate English songs; (2)she is too perfect to emulate, and her perfection could backfire and drive some of her jealous audience into desperation.

Come on....this is not against Zhang Liang Ying because she is a good singer & I like her. I like Bibi most but I am not bothered that she did not come first. These are the rules of the game and you just have to respect the results. I listen to English songs a lot..and I think Zhang sounds very good when singing English songs, but...1) she had a very heavy accent when singing.. 2) she could at best be as good as Myriah Carey... which means.. she lacked ORIGINALITY when she sang English songs.

In a competition where you have people who sings with originality like Bibi, people with charisma like Li Yu Chun (although I don't get it), and ji Min Jia is a very good singer too....I don't understand what the big deal is that Zhang did not become first. There is no question that Li Yu Chun was the weakest singer of the top 5... but she got the most votes... so let it be... And I like it 100 times more when Zhang sings in Chinese than when she sings in English.

Living in the States last 20 yrs, using English everyday more than 30 yrs, n enjoying Mariah Carey n Christina Aguilera last 10 to 15 yrs, I finally found a Diva in Jane. The difference is between SPEAKING n SINGING. Preparations for lyrics r a meticulous process in which any slip is to be ironed out, "accent" if any, drowned in tunes, unless u have pronunciation disorder or u don't know the language. She even SPEAKS Mandarin with an accent as HK singers do. So what? Why didn't u pick on THEIR "accent" when SINGING in Mandarin? Coz it's silly to do so, n it's out of downright jealousy to use "heavy accent" to detract a diva like Jane. She has no "accent" SINGING.

The organizer was to blame, too. How come they picked her in the first place? She was at best a local star from a tiny community with no credentials to judge a nationwide competition.
