  • This fellow sounds just like Jello Biafra !! :)

  • at 1:33 he is talking about Einstein Theory of Special relativity concerning magnetism and electrostatic forces right?

  • thanks so much

  • Screw My Physics Teacher...

    Youtube Is Much More Better..!!!

  • @The007yoman ikr!

  • @The007yoman Screw your English teacher too.

  • @The007yoman should maybe get an english teacher on youtube

  • khana are you like the smartest guy in the world or something?

  • Afrikans have been using "magnetic" over 100,00 years ago

  • He says compass weird.

    Thumbed down.

  • Sal Khan is greater than Allah

  • @megag52 youre a piece of horse shit you bitch

  • is there any subject his guy ISN'T good at?

  • this stuff is great fundamental physics review for the physics GRE. thank you very much!!!

  • Dudes, have you aver seen circle ? it's like atom ?

  • Who are the 14 Bozos who disliked a free and accurate educational video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?

  • This video is full of miracles.

  • I can't believe that i understood magnetism

    Awesome video :)

  • AMAZING!

  • MAGNESIUM: From the Ancient Greek, "Μαγνήσια" (Magnesia) (district in Thessaly), where discovered. (from Wikipedia). Good guess Sal.

  • @mrhansenable

    its Master Sal to you

  • Can you explain how Magneto controls the powers of magnetism?

  • A magnetic monopole sounds like an oxymoron, but it's fascinating to think that one might actually exist.

  • north pole...

    and

    south paw

    o_O

  • Lol, from Magnetism to laxatives.

  • he mumbles alot

  • what happens when your right on the magnetic north, with a compass???with no sun, or stars?dam...

  • seriously, you're the best buddy! :D

  • @khanacademy hi can we use this video for a science presentation on magnetism? We might play this video muted while we explain how magnets work if it's okay. thanks.

  • this is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I disliked this video at first because the video didn't come through, then I liked it because I like the subject. I really would like it to load the video so I could watch it.

  • I wonder if the element kryton was first discovered in Kryton as well, probably.

  • hes trying way too hard to make this interesting and get comments...its so discreetly desperate its sad

the magnesia thing is jst fr comments....sad

  • @ish95aoe his vids actually like.....are better than teachers in classrooms, so if he wants comments, i don't see why he shouldn't get them. So i don't see anything sad about it. PLUS, he's only doing this for help. I don't think he really cares for mere comments

  • @ish95aoe :O How dare he try making education fun! Enjoy your life as a gas station attendant.

  • i love these videos!

  • He's motherfucking lying and getting me pissed.

  • @looooooool lying how?

  • @ChuckleKing It's miracles up in this bitch.

Now stop motherfucking responding and getting me pissed.

  • Clown Posse needs to lose weight and stop making music.

But yeah I'm here to learn about physics so yeah.

  • These objects - magnetism, magnetism... - These objects...

I'm just kidding, these videos are great. Triple integrals are a breeze, now I'll deal with fields. :D

  • This is great. I can play pokemon and study for my physics test at the same time. hahah i'm such a nerd.

  • 9 people failed physics

  • I'm movin' to Magnesia!

  • Or maybe the magnets poles were mislabeled not the earths?

  • Clown Posse needs to watch this.

  • make videos on amperes law, solenoids, and current loops

  • Fuckin' magnets, how do they work???

  • Thank you soooo much! I thought I was going to fail Gr.11 physics. :S

  • @DMCIidol me too lol

  • im pretty sure magnetism isnt a fundamental force. I thought the fundamental forces were electromagnetic force, strong and weak nuclear force and gravity... sorry for being an arse, or bein wrong

  • Hello, thank you for posting this, I watched your videos and learned lots, here is the result. My video DIY strong water cooled electromagnet. Thank you again and be well.

  • Just to be clear, because it is hard for some to believe, the poles are opposite. Magnetic north is in the geographic south.

  • The magnetic north is actually next to the south pole. The north pole of a magnet faces north because that is where the south manetic pole is.

  • @evilsinzy thanks for stating the obvious

  • @goopop67 Wow, you're original.

  • Didn't know magnets will make me suffer like this when i was young.

  • Didn't know magnets will make me suffer like this when i was young.

  • does milk of magnesia comes out when you squeese the tities of magnesium?

  • Thank you kind sir.

  • i love how he starts talking about laxatives.

  • "no i dont wont it to be yellow.." xD

  • why not fucking call it the negative and positive pole?? wich one of the north and south pole is negative????

  • thankyou was looking for a science project worth 75 points and this helped me explain and understand my project and what I was doing thankyou again!!!

  • sir,

    ur videos are nice

are there any videos regarding HOW IS MAGNETISM PRODUCED FROM THE ATOMS(OF THE MAGNET)?

all are saaying about what is magnetism but no one is saying abou that

if anybody knows that please tell me the linkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • FUCKING MAGNETS! HOW DO THEY WORK?

  • i was wondering ist it north pull south pull because it pulls?? where did poles come from?

  • @CONCUSSION187 it was created by magma spinning under the Earth's core.

The magma's revolution is producing the magnetism which is the ozone.

  • I agree that north pole is really " South Pole" good logic!!!

  • FUCKING MAGNETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fucking magnets. How do they work?

  • @greenwasabe +><-

    opposites attract.

  • @greenwasabe HOW DOES GOD WORK?

  • @greenwasabe

    They work by relativity!

  • @greenwasabe Fucking miracles.

  • I have never made login ID in YOUTUBE, and This vid just turned me into ONE OF THE YOUTUBER, Since i had to leave a comment to "mr khanacademy' to say "thank you so very much"

  • Acctually nowadays the magnetic north is near the south geographic pole and the magnetic south is at the north magnetic pole, its a recent discovery because they realized that the needle's north is attracted to the earth's south and the other way around.

  • OMG THANK YOU!!!!

  • Magnesia :P

  • why in the world wouldn't they make the geographic north and south the same as the magnetic ones??!

  • @TutorWizard

Geographic north and south were set before they really understood how magnets worked. So "North" was defined as the end that pointed to the already recognized north.

Conventions really don't make sense. Electricity is even more bizzare.

  • @TutorWizard

Actually, they are aligned when you look at it on the earth. In the middle of the earth it's flipped around. The reason is that the earth, like any other magnet, has field lines running through and around it. Imagine a circular line running through the middle of the earth, coming out the south pole, going up around the earth, and going back in on the north pole. That's the magnetic field, and things like needle point compasses will align with that.

  • @TutorWizard Acctually nowadays the magnetic north is near the south geographic pole and the magnetic south is at the north magnetic pole, its a recent discovery because they realized that the needle's north is attracted to the earth's south and the other way around. i ment to write this comment to you instead of posting it so sory! hope that was helpfull

  • @Mlebhad95 yeah guys hes right, the north is the south and the south is the north

  • Magnesium wasn't found in Magnesia.

    Sorry

  • No, milk was! mwa hwa hwa hwa

  • thank you for your work. physics class is so tough but you dissect this information very clearly. and the videos are very enjoyable.

  • Great Vid. Thanks!

  • did you know that if you move a magnet side to side with another magnet in the dark u can see blue static

  • @alexprez55 9 months late but i did not know that

  • Can it be said that North is the "Origin" of the field lines and therefore South pole be called the Convergence point?

  • whyisitalwaysabitch, just what i wanted to say to you xD

  • I am also interested in quantum mechanics.

Hopefully you can have few videos on it thanks

  • Hi Sal,

Not sure how I can contact you except for posting my question here...

Do you plan to put some videos on quantum mechanics here anytime soon?

    Can't wait to see them!

  • awesome video.

  • This is the best explanation of magnetism I've found on youtube. Great work.

  • to tell you the truth, the magnetic north is near the geographic south and the magnetic south is near the geographic north...

  • yeah that's true

  • nice

  • d explanation worked 4 me..nice work..

  • that was great :) keep doing what your doing!

  • magnetism is just a magnetic substance that was put on an object. everything can be magnetized with the proper condition applied.

  • thanx for the video! it will help we at my final exam

  • Excellent elementary presentation. He actually anticipates all of the common-sense questions that a simple-minded person like myself would ask. Even better, he answers them in easily digestible bits.

  • Awesome video, I like all the little extra tidbits of information you gave like the origins on the word magnetism and stuff. Very cool.

  • magnesia FTW! :-P

  • 8:45 When I was a kid, I used to collect magnets. I dropped one on the floor. It broke into two. I tried to fix the two broken sides together, but they kept repelling. Therefore, I think two opposite poles were created. So I think his drawing at 8:45 should have two unlike poles such as N and N or S and S on each broken side.

  • I'm a beginner in Physics, I always thought a magnet was created by forcing a bunch of electrons over to one side of the magnet. I always wondered why they didn't simply move back so they were evenly distributed again. But now I know it's because we put all the clockwise spinning electrons on one side and all the counter clockwise on the other. Interesting, I can't wait to learn more.

  • laxative for my brain

  • actually the new curriculum in physics goes into quantum theory it sucks balls so confusing can u help??

  • men your the best, where are your calculation on newtonian gravity

  • great job

  • i really like your presentation on electrostatics

  • there i s a mistake

when you break the magnet ,the polarity of the second one will change

in what you've depicted, the magnets would actually get attracted

    in reality they would repel

  • I subscribed to you.. this is much interesting than the lectures from uni... the professors are so damn boring.. i really find this intruiging... WHO KNEW LEARNING COULD BE SO MUCH FUN.... man if the profs were this interesting i wouldnt have fai.... (nevermind) well good job (

  • Electrostatics is unipolar, and Magnetism is bipolar!!! XD XD I kill me

  • Magnesium wasn't discovered in Magnesia I don't think, but Magnetite was XD

  • lol yeahh

magnesia i think is magnesium oxide

  • Magnetite is one of my favorite minerals :-P

  • which category of the channel does this fall under?

  • Physics.

  • I'll show this to my brother, which, by certain calculation seems to be the magnetic opposite of the moon.

'tis indeed a realm we don't operate in, normally.

  • aw man i wish i would have seen this video when i was in physics..finally makes more sense!!

  • Maggots XD

  • That was surprisingly funny at times. All the Magnesia business.
