We are hoping to stop in for a few days in Chicago - we stopped there for one day enroute to Memphis and vowed we had to come back it was so beautiful - will go on the river boat cruise for sure.
Chicago is a wonderful place to live or visit. I know certain areas in the city are not safe. Then again, any city in America has a bad spot. Chicago has an endless array of museums, theaters, and gorgeous skyscrapers. Plus, their lakefront view is very picturesque.

chicago is vast,forget the cultural experience,stay downtown which is what i call disneyland,don't go too far out,especially west,the southside seems to have a murder everyday,and every gas station on the northside has at least one customer with a shaved head(gang banger),but you can enjoy downtown when the weather is nice,that is about 5 months,the homeless are begging for change at every exit ramp,it is legal in chicago to run them over,please do
i am slovak(central europe) and i have an opportunity to study for a year either in chicago, san francisco or honolulu...quite different locations, but if can i ask, what would you reccomend me?
If you were just talking a month or so, I'd say Honolulu. But that might get tedious for a full year unless you really enjoy surfing and sunbathing. San Francisco is great if you're rich and gay, but otherwise offers little that Chicago doesn't have.
Chicago is a great choice if you can stand the winters. Plus, with its central location in the U.S., you can venture out to visit other North American cities on weekends. Chicago would probably give you the most diverse cultural experience.

Your photos make me homesick which shows you not only take good photos, but you took photos of a lot of location where I used to live (Old Irving Park)
Great video of one of my favorite cities!! Chicago, Illinois and New York City, New York are my favorite cities in the U.S!! Chicago has the best Pizza oh my God!! And its cheaper than New York tho

Thanks for the comment.. We (my wife & I) grew up in Chicago and always enjoy returning "home" to enjoy all it has.
We now live in Tempe Arizona and for the day to day living it suits us fine but we have to travel to more cultural places to see more than desert cactus.
