i just went to full moon new year party 2010 at Koh Pha ngan i danced alot in mountain bar and mushroom bar. since 1 am -10 am of 1st January 2010. i will go there again next year
They're true man, certain places get messed up by these kinds of parties, yet ofcourse, it is still fun for you guys. (I've been to that kind of parties). The thing is that many locals indeed experience regional problems due to such events in cultural, environmental, economic and social ways. Ofcourse tourism also brings something good. I can know, since I studied the impact of tourism on developing countries.. Cheers

Well, good for them. I've read about the beach party they have at Koh Phangan every full moon. The locals really detest the presence of the Europeans there. They're rude and, frequently, they get beat up and robbed by the locals. Good for the locals I say.
