There is no doubt that Fiorina wasn't liked by many because she made some tough radical changes including sliming down the company and acquiring one of the largest competitors, Compaq, but look at how the company has prospered since!

She worried about increasing her pay, buying a yacht and some jets and more than profits. You are right, she stopped development. She also stopped existing products that would increase the profits like the DEC Alpha that HP got when they bought Compaq. The only thing Compaq had that HP could have used was the Alpha. They could have sold the Alpha instead of killing it.
