  • So, are the people who go to these Pro Ana websites Wannarexics then? I mean, if they think it is just a lifestyle and they are not suffering from and ED, then r they trying to get one? You should all be careful what u ask for, ladies. If u start out a new lifestyle, that road can be very seductive and u can end up losing control in the end. It sneaks up on u! Nutrition is an important thing, and if your brain doesn't get enough of what it needs, it could go all haywire on u....just b careful

  • 0.58 seconds "During the time Allison MADE THE DECISION to starve herself" What a load of uneducated bollocks! Allison, i'm sure, did not wake up one morning an say ''Hay you know what today ima be an anorexic'' throw all the food in her house away and decide to never eat again.... God that pissed me off.

  • @SexyTruffles I know, Right!...Alot of "pro-anas" do in fact make that decision but that is what makes them NOT eating disordered. But the media keeps confusing those with acutal ED's that happen to go to these sites with the people that really do use ED'd behaviors by choice because they think they will lose a few pounds. They deny having ED's because they just don't have them and the media says that they are just "in denial" when they arent..they really don't have EDs. UGH

  • As long as you're happy it doesn't matter what people think. Why do people assume everyone "suffers" from ana?

  • eating disorders are cool and I want one

  • ANA DOES NOT STAND FOR ANOREXIA! At least get it right on the news!!

  • Im not sure why anyone really cares. If you want to die while looking like a broom stick then go ahead. Im all for it. Just think, a few less bat shits in the world.

  • I'm 16 and a recovering anorexic/bulimic. My anorexia started when I was 13 and saw a frontline video on the dangers of the Internet with teenagers. I don't remember what it was called, but I do remember a girl who was anorexic and looked at pro-Ana sites all the time. Her parents had no idea. she kept saying how it made her feel so in control and so powerful, strong, and best of all - thin.

Anyway, after watching this show I thought "wow. That's easy. That's control. That's a secret.. It's goo

  • 111 people are empty, rotten and dying "princess" how sad the world is...

  • Thin has a taste all its own

  • @cypher988 Agreed :)

  • Nothing tastes as good, as thin feels. Ana is also my best friend. All I think about is THIN. som call it sickness, some call it obsession. I call it PERFECTION

  • @skinnygymnast101 go to a hospital!! you want to be a skeleton for the rest of your life? you won't be able to have kids, you can have a heart attack, your kidneys can fail which leads to death. you have friends and family that want you to be around for many years to come. you can also die in your sleep. your body is like a car. a car needs gas to run. without fuel, you cant go any where

  • @skinnygymnast101 and what boy will want to go out with a skeleton who has no chest?

  • It's not a desire to be skinny, it's a desire for control with me.

  • @XLilXTweakX samerz.

  • The Prodigy

  • Ana's my best friend and she treats me perfectly. She's not an enemy. As long as I do what she wants.

  • @WilliamHardigan i guess you don't want to have kids in the future

  • i'm bulimic ... and i think that being anorexic would be much harder even though mia sucks.

  • @Shrink18 They are pretty much the same thing. Anorexia is just weighing less.

  • @MB4493 ; Wrong. They're both eating disorders but very different. I'm not able to deprive myself of food for more then a day because i'm strongly addicted to food while an anorexic can go days without food.

  • @MB4493 ; and also bulimics purge.

  • @cypher988 i already knew that

  • @cypher988 ur welcome

  • Wow that Melissa chick is a porker! MOOO, MOO FOR ME PIGGY!11

  • she "decided" what the hell?! it's not a choice!!

  • I am pro ana i think its the smartest way to lose weight. "if it was easy, we'd all be thin"

  • @bryane5 smartest ? dont u think easiest is more appropriate ... im really not here to judge u but dont be dillusional about what ur doing ... u guys call urself strong but u take the EASY way out instead of the good one ... that being weak in my eyes, no ?

  • @FyreBalletDancer like i said, "if it was easy, we'd all be thin" its not easy. i have a hard time trying to resist food. but it w/e. i have my reasons for bein pro ana.

  • I love pro ana sites I don't know why people are hating thanks to fox news I have a new website I can visit on a daily basis bludragonfly . com!!!!

  • Why do they keep showing Blue-Dragonfly? So an anorexic, bulimic, or near anorexic or bulimic girl who happens to see this report can go see it? If they were that worried, maybe the best thing to do is not talk about all the details. People could ignore the warnings and go "Hey, that sounds like a good way to get skinny!".

  • @RainbowStarlightGirl exactly right. no news coverage should be made for them, it's like advertising it to vulnerable girls or girls with pre-existing disorders. argh, so stupid. i discovered them through a magazine that was revealing how bad they were, but at a young age i just though... maybe it'll work for me..?!?

  • I didn't learn about Pro-Ana through a website...at school I saw a video about a girl with an eating disorder. The slogan was "Don't let this happen to you!" but all I saw was how beautiful she looked with all those bones...

The next day in class some asshat made the comment that I was 50 times bigger than her. So I decided to BE her. I stopped eating.

My point is, if this isn't just about the websites. If a person is emotionally messed up and determined enough, the "thinspiration" can come fr

  • Those pro ana girls still look fat.

  • So, still think heart attacks are exclusive to fatties? I'm 220 pounds, excellent blood and kidney screen. I wanna lose weight, got a bypass and shit, but THAT? Yeah hip bones are pretty, but the way there is fucking ugly.

  • it isn't just the fault of these websites, these websites can help people. When someone is ana or mia it can be even more dangerous if they don't know what they're doing. People are more educated about these things now than they were when this film was made. These girls help each other stay alive now, and make sure that they don't go over the top. I know, because I'm one of those people who look at the sights. It's a lonely illness. And these website give anas and mias people to relate to

  • Very interesting insight to anorexia in the online mag psycho--therapymagazine

it's found in the search engine. Incredible videos tagged on. I've never seen anorexia like that before; also incredible insight into how to lose weight without being noticed what you are up to by the folks. Dr Julian Fairbanks is an expert on the matter. Great interview he does with Victoria Bekham.

  • i've been bulimic for about 2 yrs now.but i don't really look at these websites.and this didn't happen to me because i wanted a boyfriend or wanted to look pretty, but bc my mom is constantly comparing me to her when she was my age, i'm 120 lb she was 100 lbs and even still the other day she called me fat. though i can't lose weight, i just eat so much and then purge. i've probably done damage to my esophagus now, but i can't stop now...even when i try...and my mom doesn't know...will not know

  • Noone can understand what it is like to have Anorexia unless they have been through it themselves. You will never fully recover. Pro Ana sites are a safe place where we can go without being told ..Just eat a f*#king sandwich.. it is more than just about weight and appearance. That is a symptom of the psycological trauma going on. Keep pro Ana sites open so we have a place where we can talk about our daily struggle and be understood. When used by the right people .. It is lifesaving!

  • @Borritoful

I was anorexic for about 4 years and definitely bought into the proana websites, they "fed" by addiction and normalized my behavior. However, anorexia nervosa is a disease, not a lifestyle. They allow those of us that are sick to be "supported" by negative distortions and cognitions.

recovery is possible. fill yourself with truth, not the lies of proana!

  • Damn I don't know whether Pro-Ana isn't even worse than Scientology...

  • Delusional? They know what they are doing and what they are risking. Delusional would demand a denial of that.

  • tHis pro anna foruns are a fucking shit, do you people think anorexia is a lifestyle ? then you are all stupid , whe need to eat, youa always think you are fat, when you aren´t, its all shit to kill you, fuck pro anna

  • I'm proana. I'm fine at 80 pounds

  • @imperfecterthanu not something to brag about

  • The woman at the start of this video is what my dream wife would look like.

  • Fuckin' anorexia almost killed me!!! fuck those websites!! eat healthy and excirsise right and you'll be thin as you should be.

  • This proves women are more easily influenced than men. Men see pics of muscle men but don't kill themselves trying to look like that. Even if there is a case here and there, it's not close to the number of women who die from anorexia.

You can't go through life blaming external sources (in this case, magazines, skinny models, websites, etc.) for your shortcomings. Sometimes you have to accept responsibility yourself (as much as that is an alien concept these days)

  • nobody can just "catch" an eating disorder from a website. Pro ana is wrong and really ridicilous. Who the hell is pro ana? It's being pro death.

  • i do enjoy pro ana porn something about a starving woman

  • At its inception, pro-ana referred to those people who were pro-support and pro-recovery, whereas pro-rexie referred to people who promoted the disorder as a lifestyle. There are so many shades to pro-ana and it's not automatically bad. But no one hears about that. Which leads to support and recovery sites being shut down because they use pro-ana to mean what it actually means.

  • Pro Ana is freedom of speech, the end. I could make racist jokes and I wouldn't be doing anything illegal, correct? Just immoral to most. Is pro Ana in exercising freedom of speech really harming anyone? its like being unable to insult someone because of their reaction. Banning pro Ana is to ban freedom the end

  • @cassidyteufel Free speech does not mean you can say anything you want. Ever heard of the yelling "Fire!" explanation on what your free speech right does not cover? Pro-ana is harmful, period. Young 12 year old girls find those sites, starve themselves, and DIE. Fact. I don't understand why young women choose to mutate a legitimate illness into some sort of glamorized diet/lifestyle. Hell, many of the women in the "thinspo" pictures that they steal have died from the ED.

  • @sybrix Its the parents fault for misteaching their children to be willing to harm themselves. And I looked into your freedom of speech bit, we don't have "freedom" of speech I realised, we just have ability to express opinions more so them other countries. It's misleading and annoying.

  • @sybrix also it pisses me off that we're basically talking about deleting the existance of pro-ana, in other words information about how some people see anorexia and knowledge! It's like me deciding learning how to bake a pie is harmful and so destroying the knowledge that past generations have formed and future may need

  • @sybrix

That's different from people being allowed to express their opinions. Yelling 'fire' in a theatre is causing trouble, whereas saying extremely thin people look good is an opinion. Being extremely thin is not a crime. So giving advice to people on how to become extremely thin shouldn't be either.

We're not toddlers and we don't need a nanny state

  • @thepotatovagina Sure, people over 18 years old can do whatever they want with their bodies and kill themselves however they want. But as I said before the problem that has arisen from this is that young girls as young as 9 years old are getting very sick and some are even dying from these websites. I used the fire example to explain to someone that freedom of speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want.

  • @sybrix actually it's up to the parent to make sure their kids aren't influenced by those sites. And freedom of speech actually does mean you can express any opinion you want, so if someone is pro ana they have the right to promote that. The things you can't do under freedom of speech are direct threats (like "I'm going to kill you") or say things that you have promised not to say by signing a contract (like a doctor giving away information about his patients)

  • @Chaaarge Yes optimally parents should really block all sites except for approved ones, but unfortunately children find ways around that and it's exceedingly difficult to shelter your child 24/7. Some of the responsibility falls on sites (hence the admittedly BS age checks on porn and alcohol sites). Also, freedom of speech doesn't always apply if corruption of a minor is involved. Just saying it's not a black and white law, there's many gray areas no matter how strongly people feel about it.

  • @thepotatovagina Also these websites are harmful in certain ways (just like yelling "Fire" in a theatre). That's why some of them are being forcibly shut down. There is a degree of responsibility when you run sites like that, especially if a minor stumbles onto it and hurts themselves. Maybe they could make sites like that for adults only.

  • You can't promote an eating disorder anymore than you can promote hepatitis or schizophrenia! It's an Axis I disorder in the DSM IV, you either have it or you don't. I bet half the people that post stuff on these sites aren't even anorexic, they're just wannabes who are either fat or wish they were thinner. For psychologists, a person is only diagnosed as having AN if s/he has satisfied certain disorder-specific criteria (HINT: Being a pro-ana website fan or blogger is NOT one of them).

  • i do not agree with this site at all but i am 14 years old 5`7 and 118 lbs and i had taken a trip to the modeling agency they said that i had potential but i need to loose at least 7 pounds.

i believed what they said to me and i took it to heart and i try to watch how much i eat now because it really tears down your confidence. society and the internet have caused the rate of eating disorders to sky rocket. it really sucks.

  • @Rocket14queen They should've told you that you can't be a model at 5'7" period. Models need to be TALL. You're taller than the average girl, but not by much and certainly not tall enough to be a model, and 118 is too fat for modeling. Wait to see how tall you get, because you haven't finished growing yet! The weight will naturally come off in a few years as well. Think of how many billions of people live in this world, then think of how many dozen of them are supermodels! It's not for everyone.

  • @reymatt76 my dad is 6`6 and my mom is tall too so the doctor said that i will mostlikely be tall as well. my mom isnt too fond of the idea because it worsens your self confidence, but most models get signed at young ages because they are fresh faced.thanks thoough

  • @Rocket14queen There are pros and cons to modeling I think. I would tell mom that you can't have a career first and then decide to become a model when you're 30, 40, 50, etc. It's all about youth, so if you're going to do it, might as well get it out of your system when you're young and more likely to get gigs. Your modeling career is over at 25, but on avg. women in the US live 80 years. Modeling can be an important part of the journey, as long as it's not your destination.

  • Skinny is ugly

  • I like the part where she says " I like

Melissa a lot better than Ana"

  • More than half of all the photos and advertisements we see are photoshopped.

  • ana girls, trust me, I'm not thin as you would die to be, but I'm gorgeous!!!! Men go crazy for it, that's just the truth, don't starve yourselves!

  • @ciccicasillas shut the fuck up ho u dont whats it's like

  • i want to be thin but ill never be thin i feel very ashamed

  • @1988delighla I hope you're not serious...

  • i want to be anorexic. fuck it. i will die

  • you cant blame pro ana websites for our "ED'S"

ITS NOT A MENTAL DISORDER NEITHER IS IT A CHOICE

  • @muna4eva ~ Having an ED may have been a choice at first, but once it begins to run your life and take over your thoughts... it's a disease/disorder/addiction. It's never a choice for very long. It's like having a drug addiction. The first few times you use were by choice, but it very quickly turns into a habit, then an addiction.

  • @DaMinHe Very well said. Its a slippery slope, have to start somewhere.

  • @muna4eva ~ Deep down, you know I'm right. I hope that one day you will break free and be at peace with how beautiful you are without all this media/pop-culture/hollywood inspired non-sense.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mhenge nope it is absolutely correct, tons of girls and young ladies make this a lifestyle choice, fad or a diet. This does not always begin in families, it does not always have to do with the media, The real problem starts with you, it is time to take personal responsibility and stop blaming everyone else

  • If they want saggy boobs, extra hair, a sickly face and a disgusting figure then let them. It's their own choice so I don't feel sorry for them at all.

Anorexia Nervosa on the other hand is a completley different story though. They don't choose to be this way, their sick.

  • The title of this video should be:

    EX-Pro-ana interview.

  • or anti proana

  • t's so sad.

  • Let's face it people. Having a perfect body takes a lot of work specially if you have the wrong genes. Not eating is NOT the answer. Eating in small quantities and only nutritious foods being careful to consume enough vitamins, along with plenty of exercise is the way to do it. But remember , if you have the wrong body most diets WONT WORK. You will have to accept yourself as you are and stop hurting your body and your loved ones. My sympathies to the pro-ana community . God bless you.

  • doesnt you religion give you enough reason to live?

  • wow...i got saved only 9 months ago? i thought it was like...10 ...i thought...yeah, it was May... ^_^ nah, I hate anorexia now <3 <3 <3 this is so weird, i forgot about that comment :) thanks for reminding me :)

  • @RozyczkaProAna18 well done for recovering from this isgusting disease and i am glad that you found your senses befor it was to late how old was you when you started getting this problem?

  • @cherrypie294 i was about 15 when i started to try to lose weight, then i thought 'if this won't won't i'm gonna go on starvation' and it started when i was 16 i started bulimia around start of 2007. i wasnt strict though. i guess i stopped around may 2009 :) my teeth are really bad now :( i have holes and i think i might lose a few. my weight hasnt changed, if anything - i lost weight. also it is a sin against God that one will be punished for if s/he doesnt repent and turn to Christ. God bless

  • i meant 'wont work'. if theres anyone there whos got a problem - i know you might like the culture and i know its hard, but you know you can die, dont go on with it, cos after you die, theres no rest - theres waiting and then judgement and torment from which you will have no rest - day and night you will suffer. therefore turn to Christ, He can save you, cos He suffered your sin instead and as long as you believe He is God and repent, He will save you from the wrath you deserve as a sinner.

  • thankyou so much. i was thinking about becomin bulimic as i am a plus size girl. i would still like to be curvy but i have read and seen videos of people and seen that it goes out of control.well done for u. and thank god that you got saved.

  • I hope He saves you too. there is nothing good about bulimia, it gets addictive and tempting, but i couldnt even throw up too often cos my throat hurt, i was constantly worried i'd die until i accepted it, my <3 said he'd leave me if i was too skinny (he wouldnt, but he was making a point) most guys dont like skinny girls as far as i know i'm slowly starting to want to look curvy, just - nice :) you can lose weight without exercise, but then your body would be saggy and you'd have excess skin.

  • Starve yourself, be cool.

  • Comments like this are ignorant and rude, you should do some research on this DISEASE. And you sound like the drama queen here too

  • Drama queen? ME? No shit, really?!

    /sarcasm

  • Well with comments like this coming from a kid, I think I'll just understand your ignorance

  • Ha, you're funny. You have no idea how old I am.

And ignorance is bliss, anyway, so yay for me.

  • i think u have issues with ur insecurties

  • I'm not insecure.

  • May I ask why you watched this video in the first place?

  • To troll the skeletal bitches, obviously.

  • Nice... And soo necessary..

  • Why, thank you!

  • You know what? I'm glad you exist. I bet you bring so much joy into people's life.

And of course: thank you for all your comments. I mean, someone has to criticize the anorexics, if no one did they'd walk around with ONLY their own self critic to think about, and we can't let that happen, can we, little human-hater?

    Jerk.

  • I don't hate ALL humans, and yes, I am a jerk.

Glad to see that I can make new enemies from just stating my opinion. =D

  • Obvious troll is obvious, ain't that right /b/rotha?

  • Not a /b/. Yes, I troll the bony brats.

  • Sir, you are doing the world a great service, and I commend you.

If the spooky, scary skeletons want to fire first at anyone who isn't 89 pounds and call them a lardo without any provocation, then hide behind the excuse of having a disease that prevents them from taking responsibility for their insults, they should be prepared to receive a taste of their own bitter medicine.

And it'd be weird for them, that being the first taste sensation they've had in years.

    YOU ARE CREDIT TO TEAM.

  • shout out for pro ana!

  • no pro ana!

  • it's easy to blame others for our mistakes. if you visit pro ana sites you're obviously aware of your ED. i'm anorexic too, i know i didn't choose to have anorexia but i do choose to keep starving and b/p etc. pro ana sites do not force me to starve, i choose to follow those tricks as well as everyone else. btw the original pro ana pages didn't encourage girls to become anorexic, they were created to support anorexics who were not ready to recover

  • Ok so let me ask you this. How many girls out there though really now use this site for not the positive reasons but for the negative? And how many women or men give each other advice on how to starve or purge themselves? Is that helping a person's recovery? If this site was made to support people it shouldn't support the "i'm not ready" approach, acceptance is the first part of recovery, how do you know you're anorexic if you use this site for negative reasons?

  • i don't know how many people can live knowing they helped someone to commit suicide. i don't agree with them that's why i said the original ones. you can't force anyone to recover, they might gain weigth but the mindset is still there. tretment doesn't work unless you want it. it's not about supporting the idea of not being ready, it's about respecting a personal decision. those pages were about talking without being judged and most of them included recovery information

  • Pro-ana sites that are out there now do not really give recovery information. How do tips/advice on how to maintain anorexia help the person with the disease recover or find help? And you know I believe the sites do support the person who doesn't want to recover, and i believe that from the content i see on those sites. I'm sorry , but there are sites that actually do help and these pro-ana sites don't (my personal opinion)

  • "How do tips/advice on how to maintain anorexia help the person with the disease recover or find help?" it obviously doesn't, maybe i'm not making my point clear enough

  • Maybe we can agree that Pro-ana sites are horrible.

  • oh my god, a seizure at 13?!

  • i have anerexia too i dont need to hear that its a terrible thing to do i alredy kno that but i cant help it its so hard to fight yourself

  • i have anorexia and i accidently came accross an pro ana/mia site and i bacame like addicted to them and i regret ever going onto that site! i need treatment but i am not ready yet.

  • She had a heart attack THAT young...?!

    Maybe I shouldn't starve myself.. =/

  • sensationlize,much?

  • I have learned that ana people had bad youth, with some trauma. They isolate themselves from the society and that only thing they can do is to control their food.

The best thing to do is to make them more social and let them feel free, and with more love and nice words you can get them out of ana. It requires lots of time and patience. But always use love nice words.

  • Comment removed

  • wha was the name of the ana site she went too?

  • I'm not trying to be funny, but I have a question for any pro-ana supporters out there - the people who think that starvation is a legitimate lifestyle choice and not a disorder. Do you find emaciated AIDS patients beautiful? I don't find some of the models and actresses that give pro-ana girls "thinspiration" attractive at all, and I like thin women. There is a thing called a "happy medium" or a "middle-path". Being healthy, whatever your body type, is truly a beautiful/attractive aspiration.

  • not that i support pro ana but how do you think these things start?? they choose not to eat...which is how they choose to live...hense life style...

  • Well, I have an actual disorder, and I despise pro ana. this so lifestyle is basically saying that the ED is a choice. it isn't.

  • i guess i can see where ur comming from

  • people!

let me tell you just one thing

Don`t criticize what you don`t understand!

  • its easy for her to say....i mean she's already thin

  • Stupid typing in the pro ana sites, its advertising it even if it's not meant to. People will check them out.

  • wtf..bulimia and SOMETIMES anorexia.. right. (around 50 secs)

    you people know nothing.

  • wtf? anorexia and bulimia often occur at the same time. my girlfriend used to have BOTH at the same time. dont talk if you're an idiot. thanks.

  • LOL.. i was quoting what the person said.. thats why i said they dont know anything.. the people in the video.. sorry i didnt put speachmarks :/

  • that's ednos. or anorexia with the purging subtype.

they are seprate mental disorders. just because she purges doesn't neccessarily make her bulimic as well.

not saying you're totally wrong but the way you worded was.

  • what idiots...those sites help you and there are often many girls encouraging others to get healthy and to overcome their ana/mia. ugh.

  • Well said :) xx

  • blah blah blah watevs!

like they know what we go through...

  • blabla bla..

  • They do realize they are telling people that pro ana websites exists. Girls r gonna see this and go onto these sites.duh

  • duhh, Pretty, they arent showing people what we havent yet seen. Everyone knows these assinine sites exist.

  • No actually lots of peoples don't know that pro ana sites exist but the news etc give them exposer.

  • They are helping each other dig their own graves.

  • i hate the media for trying stopping us... -.-

  • Keee, they arent trying to sop anyone. This is the NEWS. They are bringing life to it, they are EDUCATING the public.

  • pro-ana is not promoting ed's. it is a movement so that other ana's can reach out 2 eachother!!! so learn b4 u post

  • no they usually say on the site that they dont want to make you have an ed. BUT they arent "reaching out" in the right way. they are reaching out to teach each other more tricks of being ana or mia. they have a wieght, and you think that when you get there you will feel so good. but you get there and you feel even worse. and you truley cant understand that unless youve lived it. these sites need to die

  • kgirl, they DO promote ED's. They glorify it, they advocate death. I think YOU need to learn before you post. Perhaps this is nothing more than the effects of a starving brain. Go get some ice cream :)

  • wannarexics go on pro ana websites. they want to develop disordered eating simply to lose weight. people with real eating disorders don't need these sites....

the sites mimic eds. they are redundant and frivilous.

  • Look...

    They don't mimic...

    as I said before...

pro-ana is not promoting ed's. it is a movement so that other ana's can reach out 2 eachother!!! And until you have an ed, don't try to think like us!

And keep your opinions to yourself. It would be better that way...

  • i have had an eating disorder for seven years and i can tell you that my opinion stems from my own experience as an eating disordered individual as well as information from psychiatrists as well as years of research.

i have every right to my opinion as do you to yours. although, your claims have no clout or explantation behind them.

    so quit being rude.
