  • Tahitians never did drum PERIOD on the wooden slit Gong! They were taught by the Cook islander is 1952! Try and find a video of tahitians druming da toere's before that! Still no one can provide one single video! And if the Tahitans did so called drum on the wooden slit gong why did the "Tahitian heiva" only start in the mid70's hmm...? Cuz deh still cant admit that they threw their own culture away jus for something better! Sad and Pathetic! Dats why ders no Cook island village in P.C.C.!!!

  • @Midnite4Life777 what a pitty to see so hateful and so stupid thoughts!!! :( The only response is : check on Youtube that film called TABU, filmed in 1932 in BoraBora and your tiny brain will realized that Tahitians always play TOERE and PAHU... Please check it and STOP your Hateful on Tahitians!!!

  • @Midnite4Life777 I dont know if you haughty cook islanders know, but a navigator FROM TAHITI brought music to the cook islands. And I agree with Teriimataha. You bitter...

  • @Midnite4Life777 funny to see that u can have so much hate towards ur own cousins, but I guess ur just brainwashed and that ur elders forgot to tell u that u kuki airani people and Maori came from Rai'atea - Tahiti:D MO HA HA! Shame shame on u!

  • Awesome!

  • i wonder why they stopped playing the double tokere in most tahitian groups i see nowadays...i like to see some diversity in groups, but why sooo many groups got rid of such a great thing will remain a mystery to me..bamboo/tini can be substitued for it that still sounds great and is CRUCIAL for the feel

  • @1lolopaka4u YES! I agree. For me this instrument enhance the whole Toere playing ;o)

  • @1lolopaka4u The Tahitians nowadays stopped playing the double toere because that instrument belongs to the Cook Islands. So the Tahitians took away that instrument from the Heiva so that Tahitian drumming wont resemble that of the Cook Islands.Thats why today VERY few people play that instrument in Tahitian dance groups. Plus today tahitians have a unique way of drumming, that we call "oro oro". Thought it might help you a little bit.

  • @keitawhiti yes thank you that explains a lot. and i have watched videos of u guys and i love what you have done to innovate new style oro oro it is great.

  • Grew up watching uncles play tahitian drums. I miss it a lot! Fa'afetai lava for sharing!

  • @Afa913 you're welcome

  • @mr kanakanui- It's all the same...I am paumotu, tahitian, samoan n tongan...can you even speak ur own language? Piro!

  • damn! old school drumming is badass! im hawaiian having grown up around tahitian drum beats. and man. its jus. WOW. i love it. id listen to it all day if i could. i just met tefere? (idk how to spell his name) he was hard to tlk to but an AWSOME drummer. he visited my aunty a few weeks ago. and MAN do tahitians love to drink! lol. i cant hang with tahitians, they drink like its going out of style! lol i LOVE it though. mahalo plenty for the video

  • cook island copycats! Do ur own culture oh wait i forgot you forgot it because it was to boring for ur tourists..LOL so sad!

  • @MrKanakaNui hateful people has no place on my page!

  • @teriimataha

Merci Teriimataha pour cette magnifique video. Ce groupe est incroyable!

tu rends service a toute la Polynesie non seulement au fenua mais ailleurs...

    Mauruuru

  • cook island copycats! Do ur own culture oh wait i forgot you forgot it because it was to boring for ur tourists..LOL so sad!

  • @MrKanakaNui how is this a Cook Island copycat? This video is from 1986 and this was the style of drumming in Tahiti at the time. And if you were to go back further in history, I'm sure you will come to the point where Tahitian/Cook Island drumming are one and the same! Same family, same people.

Interestingly, Tahitian drumming has evolved whereas Cook Island drumming hasn't evolved much. I would say the Tahitian drumming of today is more innovate, more creative and has more variety of beats.

  • Wat looks like cook island plagerism if u ask me! Why do most Tahitian groups nowa days claim they dont play da double or tiki ta/take rua (da guy in da front wit two sticks on da little high pitch drum) Because back den before da hawaiians got a a hold of drumming and solidified Tahitian drumming in the U.S. to tourists the Tahitians were trying to mimick the cook island sound by using only one stick on da Tokere's! Tahitian Rubbish! Only in da Cook islands!

  • @MrKanakaNui blabla!! do you ever know than cook uisland language is a mix of tuamotu and mangareva languages? so who copy or plagerism who?

Your mind is popaa mind.mind of hate and racism against all the same people/family, POLYNESIAN people. If you're so anger and to fight engaged to IRAK or Afghan conutries, they need you! let our polynesian family away from your hate.... :-((((

  • @MrKanakaNui Kia Orana I am a professor of Polynesian History, and of Polynesian Dance and Music Studies at California State University Channel Islands. To set ease on this page we must understand that there is no such thing as plagiarism in Polynesia....why?? Because we are all a unit of people who are an example of love, family, togetherness, and strong roots! This argument is similar to the chicken and the egg concept just know that the double style is raro and thats it!
