im a noob so im just going to ask what could be a dumb question.
Could you use this (or any other power amp) to run a guitar cab? or do you need a guitar specific power amp? been using a line6 spider4 hd150 head and it has no power at all. so im thinking of just buying a power amp and just using the effects on my pedal. i need to power a crate 4x12.
@carpenterbee10 you can use a power amp like this, but you might not get the sound you want even with your pedal. Is your line6 spider4 hd150 a tube amp? If it is, power amps like the one i have are not tube amps and might have a different kind of sound to it then your old amp head. I don't think it could be that much of a difference in sound, but if you are really picky about how your guitar sounds maybe you would notice it more.
I just got me a XLS 1000 Crown amp and hooked it up to my speakers but im not getting any thing out of them...What were the settings that you put the amp on I'm using bare wire and RCA jacks and just not getting anything out of them.
@klintravis It should not make a difference if you are using bare wire or speakon, I have used channel 1 with speakon and channel 2 with bare wire. I would test your rca signals first, if you turn on the amp and turn up the volume of your source, see if the power indicators show any green light. that means your rca's are working. If you see the green lights and when you turn up the gain on the amp, that means something internal could be broken. Message me back about what you find out
what would you recommend to use as a pre amp? something small. and what do you use as your preamp? i don't want to bring my big ass sony stereo just to hook up the speakers at some parties you know?
@cadw600 What do you mean by "pre-amp"? like an unbalanced to balanced converter box? Thats what i use, you plug rca's into it and has balanced xlr outputs. It helps the snr, so i dont have to turn the gains on the amps as high. go to partsexpress.c0 m and search "ART CLEANBoxPro Stereo Balanced/Unbalanced Converter", this is like what i use. It would help a lot if you want to do house parties and just want to plug an ipod into your amp, this will give you a stronger single to your amp
@speakerlover13 yep thats exactly what I'm taking about thanks! small and makes the iPod signal stronger. but $65 is not what i was planning on spending ha.
@cadw600 if you could invest $300 you could buy the xls 1000. I have used it at house parties with just my ipod plugged straight into it and i got plenty of volume, plus the xls 1000 only weights 10lbs and puts out 1100 watts rms of clean power. What kind of speakers do you have and what sony stereo do you use? and yea $65 is kinda expensive, i bought mine for like $25 at a local audio store
@cadw600 It is aluminum, the amp has all metal of some kind on the outside, the only plastic is the gain knobs. But the amp is still light enough to easily be carried in one hand
You're wasting a ton of power running those subs in free space. Since there is no baffle the speaker is canceling itself out and not producing any low frequency amplification. That means a lot less efficiency. If you had those bad boys in some boxes I bet you could roll down some of your power output and run that amp a bit cooler!
@ootoobings you should watch my other vids and yes i know it was pointless to do this, this vid was right after i got this amp and i was seeing how well it worked.
plus if you actually owned this amp, you would know that it runs cool even at full tilt in 85 degree weather, i own 6 of these amps total, 5 for my djing setup and 1 in my room
@RutlesRyan well duh, the xti is about twice as much to get the same amount of power. The xti just comes with more features and is maybe made with a little bit higher quality materials. my dads djing company has 4 jbl srx728's each powered by a crown xls 2500 and we have never clipped either of the amps nor have i ever felt one even a tad warm, that is when we are pushing the subs so hard, we can start to hear port noise. I am not hating on the xti, but the xls is a better bang for your buck
@BassPounderX Thats what i do now, i have a single 600 watt rms sub brigded at 8 ohms, dont be talkin shit when you dont have anything better then me, i watched some of your vids, Logitech, grs, and they are all shit
@BassPounderX I have 2 of these amps, and i am a mobile dj, I also own a xls 2500. I use the xls 1000's to power my 2 JBL MRX515's, each one is bridged to its own amp and with the xls 2500 i power a JBL MRX528S, witch is a dual 18. I have about 5000 grand invested in my pro audio equipment, and when i am not doing gigs, i use one of the xls 1000's in my room and i don't give a crap about what i am powering with it
@bupkiss24 do your speakers say an rms wattage? If they do, you should be equal or a little over their rated rms power, so if your speakers are 300 watts rms, the 350 watts rms this amp puts out would be fine for your speakers you don't want to push the amp too hard. So if your speakers are 450 watts rms, i would get the next size up in this amp. If your speakers only say max power, i don't know how you will find an amp. A company can just slap any rating on the speaker way over the rms rating.
nice i just got mine yesterday but i cant use it to its potential yet, waiting on my reciever, i have it hooked to my directtv reciever and its really not that loud. im hoping when i use an actual reciever it will become much louder, if not im getting rid of it lol

that's stupid why nt just buy a 1kwatt sub rather then running a bunch of shitty speakers together with uneven wattages

whats the max wattage it puts out in stereo 4 ohm mode?
bupkiss24 1 year ago
@bupkiss24 it puts out 350 watts rms per channel, i don't know the max wattage, i would only go by the rms rating when looking for amps
speakerlover13 1 year ago

@MrRavi009 i think it would be fine but if i were u i would buy the xls 1500, you want to have more wattage then you need so you dont strain your amp
