  • I have a two set CD of her songs and this is one of my favorites. I can just feel that summer wind, can't you darlings?

  • Love this song. "As he lay warm and tender in my arms."

    bristlestomp is right on

"denknee, you are the keeper of the flame. thanks."

    "

  • Absolute Perfection!

  • denknee, you are the keeper of the flame. thanks from another fan of a genius....

  • SING THAT SWEET ACCAPELA LAURA

  • just (pause) unbelievable - i have no words... THANK YOU thank you for posting this xoxox

  • Where was this taken?

  • Point State Park, Pittsburgh, Pa.,, USA, June 11, 1994.

  • What do you mean Labelle did not do any background vocals Gonna take a Miracle? Patti Labelle's voice is knee deep on that cut!

  • You're probably thinking of "The Bells", luvureally. Patti is VERY prominent on THAT track (she even released a live version of it herself on her 'Live! One Night Only' set a few years ago) I read on Patti's site some years ago that LaBelle did not perform on "The Wind", "Spanish Harlem" or "Desiree" from 'Gonna take a miracle'. Those three songs are pure Laura Nyro on all of the vocals. Thanks for writing. Luvu2. Really. (smile)

  • Went back and listened again. That is definitely Patti on there. "Turning me around, Turning me around" in middle of song and at end of song "Gonna take, gonna take a miracle. That is definitely Patti. Those are definitely Patti's gospel riffs.

  • Maybe I didn't make myself clear, KemuLuxons (my bad). The three songs Laura sings all the vocals on are "The Wind", "Spanish Harlem" and "Desiree". The ALBUM/CD is 'Gonna take a miracle'. Patti, Nona and Sarah are definitely on the SONG "It's Gonna Take A Miracle". Thanks for writing tho, is case someone else also misunderstood what I was trying to say.

    Best,

    denknee

  • Denknee is right. The three songs s/he names from "Gonna Take a Miracle" are solo Laura. Patti Labelle sings with Labelle on the restof the album. Listen closely to "Wind" and the others -- that's 100 percent Laura.

Michele Kort's Laura bio backs this up.

  • Now that takes real guts!!!! Fantastic job!! Nolan Strong and The Diablos would be proud.

  • Eventhough they did a good job here you should hear the version where she sings this with Patti Labelle and Labelle. The harmonies are much better. They actually made it sound like the wind. It was just beautiful. And Patti's voice really rang out in the background.

  • Thank you so much for this. Can anyone explain why there is seemingly so little available live footage of the sublime Laura Nyro? Surely it is in nobody's interest to prevent it being seen, least of all that of her own abiding memory & genius?

  • Well, by live footage, do you mean footage from TV shows and other televised concerts? I have read that Laura was extremely introverted, and would much rather play to crowds right in front of her, like this one in the vid, instead of people in a studio and others watching at home. So she simply did not do much of it. If you want to see live shows, your best bet is vids shot by fans, like this one. FYI: there is a Monterey Pop Festival DVD set that features her as well out there.
