I think the reason he got a 17 was simply because she wanted to guess... but Rory gave the names of the politicians before giving his impersonations... which implied that he didn't understand "I'll guess" in French.
@themusicdr and @alahl002, the french education system does not believe in giving perfect scores, because they believe you cannot be perfect. The highest a student would probably ever get would be a 17-19, even a 19 is pushing it though.

People should chill out a bit: I've watched several of these rounds & it seems evident to me that Mlle Virgine does indeed have a sense of humour she tries (& almost doesn't succeed) to stifle. She's just playing the part of the hard-faced French teacher.
Having said that, she did well there: I'd be in tears at Bremner's impressions. Kudos to Rory:it is difficult to pull off an impression in a foreign language (esp. of someone also foreign to that language). His French is really pretty good.

Well, I am sorry, but that wasn't racist. I find the French pretty insufferable (nothing against their race, but their widespread cultural attitudes). They need to loosen up a bit.
The woman in the video simply reminded me of the characters I've comes across in real life.
I can understand some of what you mean about the french but not the french people, the french system perhaps. But from the moment you say "typical french" it's racist !
I might add that arse is such an awful word that it could not be interpreted in any other way !

"Arse" is not "such an awful word". You call your self British; haven't you ever seen a single British comedy show ? "Arse" pales in comparison to what regularly features on the BBC.
And, no, "typical french" shows cultural stereotyping at best, not racism. France is a country and French people are racially heterogeneous .. what they have in common, though, is *culture*.
