  • ii stronqly aqree wit yhu 'SacTownUso'

  • FYI ... If you're Tongan, Hawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, Vanuatuan etc. Our Fijian ancestors were fairly recent arrivals to Fiji from Thebes in Egypt. When they arrived in the Islands the place was already populated by melanesians and Polynesians. In fact the courts of Kalakawa has records of 13 generations of their royal lineage from Wakea to Nanaulu listed as residing in Fiji then. Tahitians, Tongans and Samoans etc .. can still find their past there. Let's not forget that ... we're all family.

  • This melody was wrote by tuivakano from Tonga look it up

  • @kisimai Bro that royalcourtier guy even said the same shit in the other Isa lei video

  • I like this!

  • I agree with what Sac says, sa tui ono was related to samoa and we are all islanders no matter where we are located our hearts are in the islands

  • I can see he's holding the Samoan Fue(flying whisk) in his left hand, must be from the Lau islands of Fiji when the Tongans and Samoans use to travel in the old days

  • This is just beautiful.

  • hmm beautiful as ever ..I love my homeland so pure as in nature and this song said it all ...........................vinaka

  • Amazingly pure and beautiful!

  • Thats beautiful. Isa Lei, my mom use to sing this allot. Since its Christmas here in the United States, Marau na Kerisimasi or Manuia le Kerisimasi. CHEEHOO!

  • I am a Samoan myself and I love old Polynesian songs like this one here. I have a some old school Samoan songs and others from other Polynesian Islands. It doesnt matter what language the music is in. It makes me cry, being born in Samoa but as a baby brought to the states, I have an absence of culture. I have made it a goal to return to Samoa one day and stay attached to my roots. This is a good video and I love the song. Stay attached to your roots my friends and appreciate the old school.

  • Junkfood has left the building due to lack of experience and knowledge of the south pacific ancestors. All south pacific islanders are all related and I don't give a damn if you like it or not.unless you are half Karean like JUNKFood from American Samoa.

  • @TheGermansam talofae it's just a nickname for youtube calm down

  • WTF is wrong with you guys? Samoa, Tonga & Fiji are connected one way or the other stop talking shit putting each other down. We are all connected through Ancient times stop acting like Palagi's with this RACIST $HIT its 2010 grow the fucc up and move on.

  • @SacTownUso yup i think ur right

  • @SacTownUso so TRUE. LUV DIS COMMENT

  • @SacTownUso Pugi le guku

  • @SacTownUso: Malo e lelei-I agree-partly to do with the missionaries and the mentality they gave us to literally to teach us by "putting each other down". Colonisation. Its true. This was not part of our culture. There was much respect then than we have today where competition strives to either get the better of us or not. Soifua and vinaka.

  • @opopo6 Actually before the missionaries arrived all of the pacific nations were independant warring tribes who fought against each other and part of that culture was putting your enemies down. Thats why many of the pacific islanders were cannibals to take a defeated foes mana. but also the haka, cibi and other war dances were performed to terrify the enemy. And the "Dele" or "Wate" womens dances in pre european Fiji, were performed to belittle the enemies.

  • well you dont need one becoz you got nz.even if samoa had one they would still be weak.and no one is talking about the U.S we are talking about the pacific and fiji and tonga dont rely on other 2 protect them.

  • @salflashy13 mm ur wrong amerika samoa is part of the U.S so put the shut to the up

  • salflashy13 here you are talking about ARMY's etc my brother do you forget that the Fijian Army are corrupting FIJI? They are taking over FIJI by Force and torturing and killing your own people who get in there way. Do please dont talk about an army unless your ARMY is perfect.

  • salflashy13 the same Fijian Army you are bragging about is the same Fijian Army who abuse there POWER in Fiji and are destroying DEMOCRACY in Fiji almost like a dictatorship. No one is perfect my brother but dont look at Samoa and talk less about us.

  • lmao they are not killing any one.they took over becuase people were selling land 4 peanuts 2 over seas buyers and the goverment were not doing any thing.you go 2 fiji and its peacefull as ever

  • Comment removed

  • lmao fiji will murder samoans even with just hands.fiji had tribal wars nearly every day.and yes fiji has the biggest military in the pacific and our brothers tonga would destroy samoa 2 haha.but lucky we got no beef wth samoa haha nah peace bravaz

  • @salflashy13 now why would you say some stuff like that? If you learn History you will see that both SAMOA & TONGA invaded Fiji back to 1000AD dont believe me read a book. As for Tonga do you forget that SAMOA slaughtered and beat Tonga so bad Anciently 1250AD that they never wanted WAR with Samoans ever again what is funny is all of Tonga's Ancient Kings were all half SAMOAN.

  • lmao i know my history and samo never ever invaded fiji you wouldve got slaughted.tonga never invade fiji.the chief of lau let maafu stay their after he was cast out of tonga.and because he was a royal the chief repctd him and he himself bcme fijian marrying in 2 the cheifs famly.his army were launs and they are fijians.samoa were invaded by tonga then samoa drove them back yub true.but if fiji invaded samoa.there would be no samoan men left.

  • salflashy13 my brother I have nothing against Fijians but you keep talking down on SAMOANS. True Samoa doesnt have a uniform with guns ARMY but trust and believe we are WARRIORS and will protect Samoa to the death the only difference is that SAMOA doesn't have a uniform for every one in SAMOA is a WARRIOR and will fight for SAMOA.

  • brah fijians are warriors.doesnt matter if we are in the army or not .samoans think they are the only warriors in the world haha i dont have nothing against samoans im half fijian/sa.just hate samoans that think that.

  • @salflashy13 nobody cares about that, u dont even know anything about samoan fiji uses weapon to kill people samoan dont kill people samoan r not violence but if fiji want to have war then well see who wins and who loses, doesnt mean fiji has more army than samoa that doesnt mean u guys r the best so yeah never know!

  • @salflashy13 yeah right if fiji invade SAMOA THERE WILL BE NO FIJI MEN LEFT IN THIS WORLD SMART ONE

  • dont make me laugg brah fijiians would slaughter samoan men and eat them lmao we breathed and lived war even though we are friendly people

  • fiji only traded with samoa never had war with each other we let samoans stay in fiji becoz we traded with samoans.if it wasnt for fiji you woudnt have the art of tatooing.samoa didnt really give us any thing.lmao invaded fiji lucky you guys never tried

  • Comment removed

  • @salflashy13 learn Ancient History Samoa & Tonga invaded Fiji from the EAST lau group in 1000AD later Tongans invaded Fiji again. Also Samoans stayed in Fiji because they were givin land for building the DRUA Canoe for Samoans were MASTER CANOE BUILDERS Lesa and Lemai of Manono Samoa from the Saleiataua Family/Clan were known in Fiji as LEHA and LEMAKI there families were givin land in Fiji for building the DRUA.

  • haha samoa and tonga never invaded fiji.they didnt even invade lau.lau was where fiji and tonga came together.when maafu came to lau and tried 2 invade fiji.guess who his army was.fijian warriors from lau but he faild.he became fijian bcoz the chief let him.and fijians built drua b4 samoans even knew about it.fijians showed that family how 2 build it thats the real history.

  • @supersmasher99 you read a one page history book. That's how far Tonga and Samoa can go...LAU...the small islands. In Cakaudrove and Rewa, Nadroga, your ancestor retreated and the rest cooked and eaten. You never even penetrated the heart of Fiji, both in Vanua Levu and Viti Levu. BUT, your princess were married to the Cakobau tribe of Bau, and our present president is one of the offspring of those beautiful, soft, white, Tongan thighs...have a good day pathetic historian...go back to school!

  • @redecloudizatio beautiful, soft, white, Tongan thighs... hahahaha lmao thats some funny shit man hahaha lyteeko. What about fijian girls ?

  • @redecloudizatiocan you tell me about the SAMOAN MASTER CANOE BUILDERS Lesa and Lemai of Manono Samoa from the Saleiataua Family/Clan who were known in Fiji as LEHA and LEMAKI there families were givin land in Fiji for building the DRUA.

  • @salflashy13 yeah right many samoan people murder fijians and togans with hands and u guys murder some of our people with knife....and talking about military samoa dont depend on AMERICA FOR PROTECTION...IF ANYTHING HAPPEN TO AMERICAN SAMOA THE AMERICAN IS GOING TO PUT THERE NOSE IN OUR BUSSINESS WHY BECAUSE AMERICAN SAMOA IS OWN BY THE U.S....SO BEFORE U TALK ABOUT UR MILITARY FACE THE U.S MILITARY FIRST......LOL.......

  • lmao fijians and tongans would kill you samoans with hands, weapons wateva their ar more of us.and no yuo dont rely on america you rely on nz haha .niggaz talking about we are great warriors stop talkn shit and thinkn samoans are the beat thing in the world.ok then wateva yu think brah.people that are humble are the most powerfull and respected.

  • @salflashy13 hahahahaha american samoa dont depend on nz or other country but what ever happen to the pacific america will always protect american samoa even know that american samoa depend on them.....we samoa can kill u guys with hand...do the math our many times u guys kill our people with knife...u guys kill our people with knife because they cant kill us with hands idiot...

  • We don't need a military in Samoa. We don't have problems like coups. And b4 u start bragging about ur military, make sure u top America's military first.

  • Comment removed

  • You do now look at the state of your Prime Minister making a decison to improve Samoan roads with about 8 million dollars then it goes down the toilets cause the tsunami ruined it hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Good work the Military should shoot his arse out of parliament hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Sambulafulei009 you dare disrespect the prime minister of SAMOA? Look at Tonga its the year 2010 and your people are still SLAVES to 1 man your KING the Tongan Concept the King stays rich the people stay poor so please dont talk about Samoa. What is funny is the current KING of Tonga is from a SAMOAN DYNASTY known as the Tui A'ano Upolu aka Kanokupolu (FLESH OF UPOLU) Dynasty. What Im saying is you cant claim to be WARRIORS if you cant stand up to 1 man.

  • @009 it's better than spending 8 million on an army that has established an illegal govn't in a country wherethe growing #'s of Indians have made you feel insecure & threatened.

  • @Sambulafulei009 LIKE WE CARE GOD WILL ALWAYS BLESS SAMOA AND YES APIA, SAMOA ROAD WILL IMPROVE AND IT'S GOING TO BE BETTER THAN FIJI AND TONGA'S ROAD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....HAHAHAHA.......AND BY THE WAY THANKYOU FOR SPENDING UR TIME LEARNING ABOUT SAMOA PRIME MINISTER HAHAHAHAHA.....LOL....

  • lmao ok first tonga never invaded fiji.if they ever did they wouldve got murderd.fiji had better weapons, sailing ships and way more man power etc.if fiji were under one rule back then they cudve invaded tonga and samoa.but why would they when our land had every thing we needed.

  • what a wonderful music !!

    pure feeling !

  • African are a global people!

  • beautiful song. HAWAIIANS IN DA HOUSE. FUCK ALL THE HATERS. 1 LOVE

  • @jimboslice1994 Hawaiians are American...no more Americunts...don't speak your King's statue in Honolulu is full of bird shits. I saw it so shut up!

  • Who is the guy in the picture?... Ma'afu?

  • This sounds like the recording I had as a child! As I recall, this was recorded in an all-girl school. The lower voices are young girls as well, unusually low for children and the record cover pointed out that their voices changed as they matured, and they lost that lovely tone. I always thought this was a particularly beautiful song, and am so happy to hear the very version I so loved, so many years later.

  • @SingerToUnicorns this was at an all girls school called Adi Cakobau School....its a well known school in Fiji....we used to learn this kind of chants during our music practice...:)good times....

  • Do the Tongans usually repeat a sentence twice in their songs like Fijians? Interesting!!!

If you know Fijian Meke, the chants are always repeated like Hebrew poetry.

Also the Cibi/Dele/Wate Meke of the old days was similar to middle eastern practice.

Mind you Tongans and Fijians do share a common ancestry although the Fijians have more melanesian traits and tradition.

  • mai suva nou numa tiko ga

...makes me think of my fam in nadera, lami, 9 miles and toorak.

  • wow this an old version

  • isa this song makes me home sick :(

  • @fijianMonkey nope

  • This song melody was borrowed from an old german song. No doubt taken off the sailing ships or whatever. So therefore the song is actually of European in origin. The point being is that culture is alive and improvised through through sharing. As to who took it from the germans? I don't know...

  • haha stop bustin their balls u know where this songs cums from

  • LMAO yeah you got me...I just made the german bit up, sorry folks.

  • That's right it's a Fijian song through and through...lol

  • bula

  • ni sa bula

  • bula vinaka thanks for sharing i love this song

  • ur rite there epdog. && all the kids being blah blah blah below better go get a life.

  • yes solewomanse u fat ass ufa. 10,000 was a med size army in tonga back then. bout the size of the army that enslaved samoa. don't be mad cause we raped ur women and beat ur men. don't talk shit cause u probably got some tongan in u.lmao fuckin kefe

  • Composed in 1918 by Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba and sung on a boat leavin for tonga with the orgin.. 'isa lei Tupou' cut short to just 'isa lei' now days. Tupou being a tongan girl on board...

    Ratu Mara...Pacific Way:

  • Sorry - slight correction - composed by a Tongan chief - I think Tu'ivkano with 'ise 'isa...

  • solemanse hasnt got a life . grow up you stupid ass . not all tongans eat horse .

  • dis was sung by the Adi Cakobau School Old Girls.....sa rogorogo vinaka saraga....even i myself as a current scholar of ACS hardly hear this kind of chant in school anymore ....

  • solemanse: who cares about horses? tell me what is palolo means? can you ask you dada or your granddada?

  • to Akuila thanks for skipping the Melanesians. polies are just so .........

  • To akuila: With all do respect the original melody of this song is called "si'i lile viola lose hina" from Tongatapu Island but Fiji adopt it and use the MELODY and change the lyrics in Fiji. Thank you.

  • A beautiful song indeed as a professor from China, behind this lovely song comes a wonderful history. Basically a love song from Tongatapu to Fiji. From the majesty Queen Salote to her half brother in Fiji Prince Ratu Edward Tungi Carobau. It shows how these two island shared many special common grounds and well respected by many other islands. With all respect from China to all pacific islanders please respect your sisters and brothers from other islands.
