  • Same old bigotted talking points, accusing anyone who is against homosexual behavior of "hating gays." Spare me.

I hear most of the hate and intolerance coming from the homosexual agenda crowd.

  • This pro family anti family claptrap is just that, claptrap. Perkins suggested only one thing that might benefit families and that is a review of taxes. Issues like better energy, health care, minimum wage, etc. will do far more to benefit families than what his rhetoric projects.

I don't know of anyone that is anti family. If fundamentalist and evangelists what to improve our culture they should set a better example and not try to legislate it.

  • No one is more intolerant than a gay rights activist!

  • "No one is more intolerant than a gay rights activist!" is an inaccurate, intolerant and bigoted statement. Does that mean that ALL civil rights, ecology, right to life, pro choice, and etc. activists are intolerant too? Or are you just prejudiced against Gay people?

  • Mr. Perkins' assertion that Congress is contemplating the legalization of human cloning is laughable. If it were true I and my clones would have the votes needed to make sure snide, elitist windbags like Tony here would NEVER be able to impose their fundamentalist, Christo-fascist agenda on our nation. I am a heterosexual man with a female wife with uncloned children to prove it. You don't represent us. In hijacking the idea of family for your reprehensible agenda you degrade the very word.

  • This was a very honest assessment by Tony Perkins. As for those who are making negative remarks about Mr. Perkins and the FRC, you have every right to give your opinion. However, "friendis," your implication that you would limit the freedom of speech of men like Tony Perkins IS ALARMING! Where's the so-called "tolerance?" Or does that tolerance end when someone's principles don't line up with the liberal agenda?

  • Since I still have the freedom to express my opinion (apparently, in contradiction to friendis' desire), there IS NO SUCH THING AS 'SAME-SEX' MARRIAGE. The very definition of marriage is a consensual and contractual union between a man and a woman. However, if you want to tamper with an institution that has been around as long as history has been recorded, be ready to see the law of unintended consequences in action.

  • What purpose do you have? Parroting a speech that was made the day before.

  • He didn't mention FRC's fervently anti-gay marriage stance. Looks like even the religious right has come to terms with the fact that most people completely disagree with them.

  • why arent they up in arms over theyr elected leader cheney having gay babies??

  • I don't think 'America's families' will ever 'stand with him' as long as he continues to fight a war that cannot be won. He's sending our people over there to die for one reason: their oil riches. We need to pull out of Iraq (which does not want us there) and give them only the advice that they ask of us. They, like the United States) have to form their own government and make their mistakes along the way.

  • Family Research Coouncil had nothing to do with "research." It's an arm of fundamentalism -- which is anti-intellectual and inimicable to the core tenets of research. Mr. Perkins is free to say what he wants to say, but please don't insult us by even suggesting that what he has to say is in the least way related to research or basic principles of honest discourse.

  • i dislike this guy-he says all the right words, but he seems like a well to do politician type rather than a christian leader with a genuine big heart-it feels like he speaks from a carefully crafted script rather than his soul!!!

  • Two roommates with a treatable sexual disorder does NOT constitute a family. Go to Narthdotcom for evidence that change is possible, then get yourself a good therapist who believes in reparative therapy. Lastly, if I "hated" you, I would say nothing and let you suffer the consequences.

  • You would rather we "mind our own business..." What if I had knowledge that you were going to die tomorrow in a plane crash... would you not want to be warned? God has promised a day of judgment and you will stand before Him. No one is good, not one... we've all stolen, we've all coveted, we've all blasphemed - we're all guilty of violating the law, and a righteous judge will hold us accountable. But - your debt has been paid... accept that gift today, for you might not be alive tomorrow.

  • Amen, my friend. Keep speaking the truth.

And let us all remember, especially Christians who are quick to point out that homosexual activity is an "abomination": The bible also says that PRIDE is an abomination (Prov. 16:5). Heterosexual adultery and fornication are every bit as abominable to God. Let judgment begin at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17) so that we may be ambassadors of God's grace.

  • I think Tony has done a great summary, with kindness to the president, but with proper reservation. Thanks for speaking to the issues with equity!

  • Now that I have a baby on the way, these issues take on more importance. Thankfully there are those who will fight for the First Amendment rights of Christians to participate in the political process.

  • LOL! Poor persecuted Christians who are so marginalized and unable to participate in the political process! Next it'll be white males we should feel sorry for!

  • Grossman, your ad hom is standard fare for pro gay marriage reasoning these days, sadly. Perkins is a good man and if you met him you'd be treated with more dignity than you are extending to him. Shame? I won't even go there.

  • HAHAHAHA! Pelosi is more anti-family than Newt Gingrich? Gingrich was married three times, once presenting his wife with divorce papers while she was in a hospital recovering from cancer surgery. While their teenage daughter in the room. So yeah, Republicans are the party of family values. Sure.

  • I forgot the mention that socrates8181 does not apparently know that frozen embryos are still able to be implanted in the womb and be born. not to mention that embryonic stem cell research will create life in order to destroy it in a lab

  • gluband: It takes religion to inspire such insanity, to believe a lump of cells, incapable of experiencing rational thought or emotions, is as valuable as a fully-formed human with a disease, simply because it has the POTENTIAL to become a human. "Without religion, you'd have bad people doing bad things. But for good people to do terrible things, it takes religion."

  • (jaspeers) If it's not human, than what is it? Is it per chance a weasel or an emu? No matter what stage of development it is in, it is still a human, simply because it comes from human parents. Saying that it's smaller makes it unhuman is like saying someone with dwarfism isn't human. Or is it because it can't live on it's own? Reality check, no one under a certain age can live on thier own, and the edlerly and sick certainly can't either. So are you saying they're not human either?

  • Excellent points OS. Offspring of humans can be nothing other than human, so at fertilization it is human, and alive, the cells divide and create an entirely new living organism.

  • Don't you know that it was man who made religion not God? I agree, that things have been done in the name of religion that aren't acceptable. But don't blame God for the bad choices that people make, we all have the right to choose to do, good or evil. We are responsible for our own actions, not a so-called religion...

  • Not bad at all.

  • Tony, it's really sad that you've focused so much of your career on discrimination against gay folks. Most people of faith don't share your dogma, and unlike you, their faith leads them to comfort the poor, fight disease, and attempt to create a more peaceful place for everyone.

It's sad that you've chosen the path of selfishness and dogma over a faith based on caring for one's neighbor.

Shame on you Tony. Shame on you.

  • why is it when you call homosexuality a sin, you are automatically labeled a bigot, or a homophobe...or discriminating against gay people?

the homosexual lifestyle has proven destructive, and the evangelical Christians want to help all people to be free of sin, for we are sinners forgiven by grace ourselves.

Don't you know that most states have had votes against gay marriage. I don't think you know what the majority really wants. what the majority doesn't want, is gay marriage.

  • gluband: I know plenty of people living in the homosexual community whose lifestyles are not "destructive." And we live in America, where individual rights (supposedly) trump the will of the majority. Marriage, before the fed. Gov. got involved, was a contract between two individuals. The "majority" should have no say in such matters. Lots of us aren't christians, and we--straight or gay--don't want your religious views dictating our rights. Kindly mind your own business.

  • (jaspeers) Saying that the minority overrides the majority goes AGAINST how America works, not for it. It's majority rule, and always has been. Just look at how all the laws and rules and regulations go about in the Government, by majority vote.

  • omega: Your understanding of the way the gov't works is sadly lacking. It is precisely against a tyranny of the majority that the constitution protects us. While a religious order may discriminate against an individual for marrying a same-sex person, any individual in the eyes of the law should be equal to any other in terms of having access to the marriage contract under the law. To say otherwise is to advocate the gov't having a say in what sort of sex you are having.

  • You "progressives" keep repeating this same flawed argument. People of all sexual orientations ALREADY HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO MARRIAGE.

It is not a question of equal access. It's a question of CHANGING THE DEFINITION of marriage.

And there is no sound argument for imposing a radical social experiment on society, in deference to the selfish demands of a small minority that is NOT SUFFERING DISCRIMINATION.

  • Marriage, before the any government got involved as a promise of lifelong unity between two people pledged before their God.

  • Does your "faith" begin with the foundational principle that the Bible is the true, inerrant, inspired word of the Living God? If it does not, then don't say you have faith. Say you have religion. To be a Christ follower, you cannot choose which parts of the Bible you belive to be true and which to be opinion or culturally derived. Its either true, or false, if true, then you must retract your statement because the Bible specifically and repeatedly calls homosexuality an abomination.

  • Strengthening families based upon Judeo-Christian values has proven to improve communities and quality of life. I think the president still has these values as part of his belief system, but I also think he knows the majority of the democrats in Congress are so "secular progressive" they would never support him in those areas.

  • Shorter Tony Perkins: "Please Pay Attention to Us!"

It's tough to realize that you've only been cynically used by the POTUS.

  • Gay is not a family, it is - like lying, adultery, and murder - a violation of the moral law that can not be justified. The law of the Lord is perfect, convicting the soul. But, the price for our guilt has been paid. No one seeks after God, but He knocks on the door of your heart and desires that you would escape the wrath to come.

  • Enjoyed it and give it five stars!

  • Jesus creates clones all the time... it's called identical twins. Not to mention species that are asexual such as elm trees. The embryos that are "killed" are actually not killed... they are embryos left over from artificial fertilization that are going to die anyway. Get your facts straight.

  • even identical twins have been shown to have differences...they are not identical in their DNA. a clone would be identical in DNA.

  • Bush is a fraud...He is trying to divide Israel, why are people overlooking this? God will not stand for it.

Bush will bring the wrath of God to the country..He needs to get on his face before a Holy God and repent...

  • What, you don't understand how opposing the freedom of gay people to form a family is **PRO-FAMILY**? What are you, dumb, or somethin'? ;-)

  • Thank you, Tony, for being a voice of reason! And the comment, in a former post on 'gay families'...there ain't no such animal...and never will be. Only in your sad little liberal mind.

  • Weakening gay families does not and never will strengthen anything, Tony.
