@MrSolitude14, Indonesian as a modern dialect of Malay has borrowed heavily from many languages, including: Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese and many other languages, including other Austronesian languages. If we look at the "International Vocabulary" we can found there are thousands of Indonesia words that are ' borrowed words '. It's resources can all be found in Wikipedia.
@MrSolitude14 Registered under UNESCO doesn't necessary mean it is original from that 'registered' country. Look, Malaysia too have certain item registered under UNESCO but most of it, it came from Indonesia ... correct or not. Your country then went on protest against it ... does that ring a bell ???
Try you see "The MP (Merpati Putih)" it's a Most Powerful, effective and Deadly Pencak Silat Style, Original only in Indonesia, and This is the flow of the oldest martial arts in Indonesia, because it was originally taught only within the royal family (Keraton Ngayogyakarta), and also taught at the Indonesian army special commando.
Now it's very well known in the state of Utah USA.

History of silat: In the very begining, approx 2,000 years back, Indian brought in their martial arts & later it was incorporated into the local (Indonesia) martial arts. Indonesia was once under Indian Empire (about 2,000 years ago). In all type of silat, one of their original tradition weapon is the ' keris '. This keris is not originated from Indonesia, it was brought in from India ( two thousands years ago). Back in India you can find keris that is more the 3,000 thousand years older.
@But2Star you got the fact wrong, indonesia was never under indian empire (it is under cultural, not the reign) and the second false fact is that `keris` is malayan weapon, well we cant find keris in india thats why keris is indonesian world heritage that registered in the UNESCO (you can check it by your self)
keris is the corruption of the Tamil word kuru-sooli by getting shortened from kuru-sooli to 'kurusu' and then to keris. Since Malay did not seem to have a written form until the arrival of Indians in the ancient days, the chances of oral corruption of Indian words when in used among Javanese was high. Indian words abound Malay language even today. For e.g, the expression "bahasa jiwa bangsa", agama, mangga, permaisuri (parameswari)...

if anyone want to see silat movie, please find "merantau" or "merantau worrior" movie.....it's indonesian film but directed by english man.....it's like thailand ong bak movie but the hero in this film use silat.....silat harimau...or tiger stail of silat....
it does not look like silat, I do silat and the moves out of this video look different, my trainers actually went to Indonesia from Australia (my country) for a tournament in 2005 I think it was, and I think they came in the top 5 or 3 or something, I can't remember, but they did good, and I haven't even got past white belt yet, because my trainers got heart probs, but my other trainer says I should already be on red belt and I'm only 14.
2. I dare to tell u that this is a real Martial Art and why am i telling u guys such thing coz one of the person [a man that take the sword a.k.a GOLOK!] is my partner!!
So, don't ever underestimate Indonesian Culture!!
and for you who have download this video [hakarasu] i don't know what it's on ur mind bout this but Thank you pal =)
I have much respect for the Indonesian and other southeast asian martial arts. They are practical , covering all bases. I am definitely considering taking them Pencak silat. It would go well with my Ngo Cho Kun. Ngo Cho Chuan had some kinda connection with the southeast asian martials, especially Malaysia and Phillipines., I think. I need to look into it more. Most real artist know Pencak silat is nonething to laugh at.
Hahahaha I think the correct translation for GOLOK isn't quite a SWORD, GOLOK is more a MACHETE or a SABRE, a sword can be more accurately translated as PEDANG, not GOLOK. Peace, fellow Indonesian. :)
yoyoyo... Why everybody is laughing about this video!? to you down there who already gave a comment let me inform you guys something!
1. This is a real Martial Art called Pencak Silat from My Beloved Country, The Republic of Indonesia, but for a show like above of course it is made like a real fighting [And FYI it is known in the whole world! that's why this video was recorded in BERCY's Festival [if u know what is?!]]...

pencak silat, pencak silat is a martial tradition of the Malay people...
if pencak silat come from Islam, why countries in the Middle East, which many followers of Islam do not know about martial arts....
