Not a Mavs hater whatsoever but Dallas really won this based off who they beat in the NBA Finals. If they had beaten Chicago,Boston or Orlando they wouldn't have won this award. The Packers or Giants would've. Love Dirk(no homo) and some of the other players but let's face it people voted for them because they beat the Heat. I thought Green Bay or San Fran had a better postseason run given that not alot of people expected them to win it all.

People said they would show they're age against the Thunder. And, finally, they would in no way beat Miami. Sure, everyone rallied behind them because they wanted to see Miami fail, but GB and San Fran weren't any less under dogs than the Mavs.

Portland was the hottest team after Miami comming into the Playoffs and had the better regular season record head up against the Mavs, Lakers where the two time Champions who blew the Mavs out in the last game, OKC was supporsed to be a better younger more athletic quicker version of the Mavs with the scoring champion, and Miami was supposed to Win their 1st of 7 Championships. SF had Pitching, and GB had one of thhe top Offence.

@c0mm0ns3nc3 Dalls was one of the best teams in the NBA. SF won a weak division on the final day of the year and GB got in the playoffs on the final day. No one really expected those two to go as far as they did but even though Dallas was picked aganist in the first round and against the Lakers alot of other people thought they'd still beat the Thunder and had a chance against the Heat. I wasn't saying DAL didn't deserve the award all I'm saying is they really won it because they beat the Heat.

But I think a big reason why Dirk won for best athlete and Dallas won for best team, was how fresh those memories were in our heads.
