That's true. They may not have realized it was going to be the last show. By the way, Bob Barker is still alive so no need for an 'RIP! Maybe a 'Good Luck with your retirement' would be more appropriate! ;)
As far as I could tell, Bob really didn't give any real indication he was leaving. He wanted his last show to by every other, and not be a bummer of a show because it was his final.
The beginning though leads me to believe that everyone knew it was his last show. People were giving him an ovation and there were party streamers coming from the rafters! They didn't do that for every show! ;)
I think it might have been someone in the crew because I don't think they would just allow any audience member to bring things like that into the studio and then throw it on stage at Mr. Barker during a taping. If the crew wasn't ready for it, it might take everyone by surprise (including security!) and interfere with the cameras. It could be dangerous allowing people to throw whatever they want on stage.
In Canada/US, RIP is for dead people. As in 'rest in your grave in peace'. It doesn't refer to someone who's retired or who is on vacation 'resting' by the pool. I have never heard anyone ever say RIP to someone alive. The response would be 'I'm not dead!'
And 'mourners' (by definition) refers to those who mourn the dead. We don't 'mourn' someone who retires. We can be saddened by him leaving but we don't 'mourn'.
I don't get it. What is so unbelievable about this clip? I'm not trying to be rude, I really want to understand. Did I miss something???

It was one of the last time Bob appeared live on television. It's sentimental.

Pretty cool during the IUFB on the TV they showed Bob's first show entrance 35 years ago!
Hated to see Bob retire but after 35 years we knew it was coming sooner or later. I just wish it was later. TPIR is not the same without him hosting!

A legend is leaving the show and all these people care about is their winnings. Give Mr. Barker some respect!

fully agree. It was so selfish and disappointing. Only thing I can think of is that they didn't know it would be aired as the *last* show?
RIP Bob Barker

Personally, I really respect that.

If that's the case then kudos to him. He was a class act. But if those people did know, then shame on them!

And I just noticed they're showing his old episodes in the TV for the first item up for bid! It seems like a 'last episode' sort of thing.

That confetti didn't come from the rafters, someone in the audience threw it in the air when Bob came out.

Bob Barker is still alive! Why does everyone keep saying RIP to him?!
eepruls 2 years ago
eepruls - by RIP we mean that we hope he's resting peaceful. It's a message of well wishing from his mourners.
