Its interesting about the comparisons with the Weimar Republic and now. The WR was heavily attacked by what would no be called neo cons and their allies. Its was liberal, progressive and secular.
After the crash in 29 th WR reflated the economy and weak stability returned to Germany. However the austerity programme of the early thirties destroyed the WR, there is debate about whether the austerity measures were necessary.

I had high hopes for Rubio initially when he was elected. But soon as I found out later that Dick Cheney of all people had endorsed him, I knew I had to look closer. I listened to Rush today. He said he plans to leave this country and immigrate to Paraguay or Uruguay. He suggested that all of hte conservatives move down there with him so that they could start a country with real conservative values. Yes, of course, what you say is true. There's good regulations and bad regulations. Regulations to avoid financial manipulations like those that led to the '08 meltdown would have been good. Unions negotiate, they do not impose. They protect the rights of their workers. Unions in general strengthen the middle class. They tend to reduce, not raise, the income gap, which has widened dramatically in the last 30 years since Reagan's assault on private sector unions.

I believe I indicated above that Castro is far from perfect, indeed he was a reaction to the excesses of Batista. Both brutally supressed human rights.
Its an indication of how right wing the shanty town state ( Florida) is that you feel Batista was reasonable.

Without that individualism there is no welfare state, there is no free healthcare, no food stamps, no safety net. All of this is built on the back of individuals which the government plunders. Europe is a perfect example of shear disintegration of society built on this fallacy. BTW Americans have a much higher standard of living than Europeans.

Firstly I am not a socialist, I beilieve in the free market except in the proviso of public services and protection of the environment. Secondly Denmark and Germany have higher per capita incomes than the USA. Public health indicators are crap in the US.
I far prefer the mode of having four or five weeks holiday with my family than a a couple of weekends as in the US.
Not much of the Christian faith in brutish indivdualism is there.

Germany or Denmark has higher GDP. Europe has lagged the US in GDP for over 100 years. 3. Our founding fathers said that freedom and life were gifts from God to man.
