  • I could fall asleep to this tune.

  • Why does this song feels evil and good at same time?

  • @izvarzone I was just thinking that. It's like triumphant and eerie at the same time.

  • Everyone who plays this game ignores the horror aspect of it. They only hear this fast techno music, which is more representative of the trance you're in while you're playing it, rather than the apprehension.

System Shock 2 has better tracks than this one, which everyone seems to like (The Many all need to fit somewhere, you know what i'm saying?)

Hydroponics 2 and Operations 1 definitely revive the pitch black mental atmosphere of this game.

  • @SirKuja This game was a goddamn miracle. It defies genre. There is no game like it. (not even Bioshock)

Has another game pulled off the Epistolary story-telling device before? Like, it's got to be the oddest and most brilliant design decision of all time. Years before HL2 we had a first person game that told a robust story (predominately) without dropping the first person perspective and without interrupting gameplay. this game is 12 years old now and STILL ahead of the curve.

  • MedSci is better.

  • i need to study but im gonna install the game. SHodan wins.

  • 5 people disliked this song, and while I am not one of them, I will respect their opinions.

  • Frank : system Shock what ?

    game : die human

    Frank : zombies hell yes

Frank ; damn no ammo [found melle weapon] die die die die

    game : ah shit

  • game --> NO AUTOSAVE :p

me- "YAEH CONTROL DECK WOOT "no ammo" fuck D:

    game ---> DIE BIATCH

    me-"huh WAIT NONONONONONOnonon *guah*

    me- HAH ILL UST LOAD

SHOADN- okay welcome to the residental deck you need to get into the main area and find the keycard

    me" OH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • the really really good games are more underground in a way...huge games like modern warfare are rediculously hyped...and it isnt no longer entertaining, its funny how im playing more order games nowadays then new games

  • <3

  • Damn that game was fun....especially when i faced shodan and just shot her a couple of times with the fusion cannon. I saved ammo for that weapon in almost the entire game...wtf i still had barrels left when she died. And coolest response to a ''do you wanna join me?'' question i ever heard after the fight.

  • I first played this game around a year ago and wow... I kept getting lost, killed, out of ammo, scared countless times, no forgiveness whatsoever...and I loved it. Immersion's 10 times greater in this than many modern games.

  • They honestly should remake this game

  • The Many Sings to Us.....

    rrrrarrrYARAAAGH....KILLLL ME!!!

  • The Many was Bio engineered lifeform created by Shodan but eventually escaped her control and began to evolve and change. In the end it feared her/despised her but wanted everything else to adapt to its own 'genetics' . She used the player in System Shock 2 to fight back. She actually created them in SS1 but they play more of a role in 2

  • can anyone PLZ tell me where i can get a free download for this game? thanks!

  • Best song of the game, hands down.

  • Retard arguing on the Internet is retarded

  • Calling this track a "song" is as console gamer as you get.

  • @PObserver What?.... What does that have to do with anything? I play PC games and have since the Doom era. If I wanna call this piece a song, who cares? Haha. Man people have some weird opinions. That's cool though I guess.

  • @moldyskittle Tracks are without spoken lyrics though all songs are tracks. I guess that's the neuroticism of my PC gaming management clickfests.

  • @PObserver ;P S'all good dude. Just givin' ya a hard time for shelling in the console gaming bit. Often times I get like that too but sometimes it's just aggravatin'. Haha. We're all here for the God of cyberpunk games anyways. PC FTW. Also? Thanks for the info.

  • @PObserver haha i know the difference between a track and a song. It was a joke to go into the whole "singing in a symphony of life", since you can't "sing" a track haha and as far as console gaming goes, yep i've played a lot of console games, but i've been playing computer games since the amiga haha

  • This is also my favorite song from the game. This is truely amazing, I am hoping for a remake as well.

  • 3 people have joined the Many, and have disliked this song.

    Their loss.

  • @sgtmoscovitz this song isn't bad, but we the many would prefer if you sang in our symphony of life.

  • @VAThrasher It's not a song it's a track there are no spoken lyrics.

  • @sgtmoscovitz whats "the many"? not familar with this game

  • @sgtmoscovitz their song is not ours.

  • @sgtmoscovitz What is Many? Is it Navy? If so, why is it a loss?

  • @bodo635 The Many is a parasidic alien race in System Shock 2, they're kinda' like the Flood from Halo.

  • @sgtmoscovitz

Even though The Many represents the masses of flesh including yourself.

  • Cool Song

  • Ringtoned...thank you

  • @TheFilthNasty I thought i was the only one !

    fucking brofist

  • this so made me play it again, wow

  • reminds me of the 90s and how time passes by. a warm and in the same moment sad feeling comes around. oh boy are we really in 2010 now? what the fuck it is like i was preparing my computer for the millenium 2 months ago...do we waste our lifes on the internet? ... :x

  • @Duphe

time is the mass murderer of all mankind

  • This game was/is perfection! Why don´t developers and publishers bother to continue the series or remake the original two games?

Well maybe just no modern studio would be able to do so without fucking everything up by focusing on shiny graphics only and simplifing the game to death -.-

  • @101HipHop101 Because neither System shock 1 or 2 were comercially sucessfull.

  • @NikolaKuzmanic123 and because they're making a lot more money doing the watered-down (sadly, pun intended) rehash that is Bioshock.

  • @helikestv too bad the gaming industry nowerdays is controlled by a few hughe companies, so everthing is developed to make profit by (savely) rehashing stuff and not to come up with some new and fresh ideas...

  • @NikolaKuzmanic123 And I guess there is something about the rights to the franchise being split over multiple holders or something.

  • @101HipHop101

You hit the nail on the head hiphop. It's dumbed down for the fucking consoles. That's why there won't be a SS3.

  • EPIC!

  • @AnssiVIH Right, this is epic.

  • Fantastic game, I would kill for it :D

  • I bought the soundtrack, it's electronic perfection.

  • Awesome Song!

Never played this Game, but if the Game is such good as this Song is then...^^

  • @madogmgd

    Insuccessful troll is insuccessful.

  • @Katalmach You best be trolling too... The answer we were looking for was "UNsuccessfull"

However, you aren't leaving empty handed

For taking part here, you have won the following prize!

    /watch?v=EY39fkmqKBM

  • @dannyboyinxs

Unsuccessful, with a single l, actually. Sorry, it was a horrible oversight on my part, the correct prefix is 'in' in my language so by reflex I put in and went with it. But thanks for correcting me, I won't make the same mistake twice. Here's your prize for the friendly non-nazi spell-check: /watch?v=CbuYb6lLHX8

  • @Katalmach In fact, i noticed i, myself made a horrible mistake while correcting you. I used to l's in "unsuccessful" instead of just the one that was required.

However, in light of your youtube linkage, i find the video to be exceedingly well past the "hilarious" category, as this has now made my day.

    Thankyou kind sir

  • @madogmgd modern warfare 2 is retarded get over it

  • @ChromeGhost0219 He's just trolling. :P

  • @Claymore2408 yep

  • Comment removed

  • @madogmgd MW2 is a failure, generic piece of shit, and an embarrassment to the FPS genre in every way shaped possible, just like Twilight is an embarrassment to movies, vampires, and werewolves.

  • @madogmgd I'm afraid not. This is and will be, Awesome.

  • anybody have the full game so i can download it including the cutscenes?

  • Even the main theme is sort of scary itself :D

  • this song still gives me chills...

  • Is that a faint smile on Shodan's face..??

  • LOLing at the Bioshock hate, I mean, it's basically the same game, right?

  • @Kperson123 Not really. Very different acually. I guess you have to play both games to see.

  • @ITSjustanothercommen I think it's pretty much the same game, Psi Powers-Plasmids SHODAN-Andrew Ryan Edward Diego-Frank Fontaine. Does that mean that it's a bad game? HELL TO THE NO! Both games are equally badass

  • @Kperson123 this came out before though... Not sure what entirely what you are saying though by the bioshock hate though...

  • Anyone got any idea as to what kind of synthisier they used for SS2

  • YES BEST GAME W.W.

  • best game out there imo.

The atmosphere was intense and creepy throughout the whole game.

Some1 was on crack when he wrote the storyline and added these epic tunes to it.

I love Radiation 2nd floor to this day.

  • system shock 2 has an incredible invirnment that I have never seen in any other game that Ive played.Sadly I dont think the curcumstances will ever be given to create a game with this sort of mood and atmosphere I meen who knew a inexpexpireanced staff of voice actors could do so good?Who knew a composer from a band most poeple I know never heard of could make such atmospheric score for a game most poeple never heard of? btw its funy how manny so called bioshock fanboys dont know why it was made

  • Honestly i hope a sequel to System Shock is never made. today, gaming consists in graphics and multiplayer, they would sure fuck it up and ruin the name, this game will never die, not until we true fans are still around.

    New games<Old games :)

  • Maybe if it's just a graphical remake. As in, the same game, just with updated graphics and other more technical flaws.

But if a full on remake was made, it'd probably be horrible.

  • @Spartan117A1

Well with a mentality like that you make it sound like you don't WANT new games to be good. The devs that made this game are still around. They can do brilliant work again.

  • @xalener Really ?

Take Bioshock as an example. It could have been fucking fantastic, It's still a great game, But it's dumbed down to infinity.

  • @Spartan117A1

    That was the past.

  • @xalener From what i've experienced, It only tends to get worse.

  • @Spartan117A1

    There are two possible reasons.

1: Gaming is evolving beyond your grasp and you're mad you're being left behind.

2: Gaming IS degrading, but only temporarily.

Are you really that naive to believe that this downward spiral is forever? Are you telling me that no developer in the world is ever going to make a good game again just because the shit ones get popular? Are you modern SURE games are just that bad, or are you just not looking for the good ones?

  • @xalener "Looking for the good ones" The good ones nowadays are those which sell good. Developing for consoles cannot be avoided today and that alone makes sure that games will not appeal to those gamers who value quality. Also, since new players grow up playing shit, soon, there will be no one market for quality games so yeah, it is a downward spiral. Just take a look at how gaming development has changed; it is no longer a passion, it a billion dollar industry. What sells will be important.

  • @Szederp

Same with movies, but good films still come out.

There will always be those with passion. I, for one, am developing a game for the soul purpose of having a shooter that controls how I want it to. Will I sell it? Yeah, but just to fund it's growth. If you're going to call all game developers monsters, just think for a sec that every living thing on this planet is just that. Everyone has a different mind and different motives. There are still people in the industry that care.

  • @xalener You are developing a game? Let me know when it is done, and please also let me know how sales turn out. Don't get me wrong, I strongly disagree with the logic SELLS GOOD = GOOD GAME, but as you stated this project will be used to generate funding for future project. If it sells poorly, you will have no other projects, which proves my point. If you alter things in the game, so that it should appeal to more people, then you will already be part of the "modern industry"....

  • @Szederp

    Well then, what about Notch?

  • Comment removed

  • @Szederp

    The creator of Minecraft.

  • @xalener When you say that gaming is degrading temporarily, You are part right (In my concept). But i would put it differently.

Games may be getting worse, But our tastes are changing. Therefore what one considers good can be bad to another person with different (Call it outdated if you want) tastes. And those "outdated" people will eventually move on to greener pastures and forget about these old games.

    We're just lowering our standarts.

  • @xalener Also, i think you too my critic "too literally". I thoroughly enjoy many modern games, And i can classify a true plethora of them as Very Good. I'm still a "gamer"

  • @Spartan117A1 My god what a fluent truth speaker.

  • @Spartan117A1 A very good thought there. I recently played this miracle and was about to ask for a sequel, but seeing the game industry today, I have to say that you are absolutely right.

  • @Szederp I wish i was wrong... It saddens me to see where the gaming industry is headed.

  • @Spartan117A1

    No!

I am not a FAN. I am not a FAN of anything.

And besides, there ARE some good games those days.. Same can be said about the "old" games, though.

  • @LolestN00B I'm not sure I follow your train of thought here. Of course there are good old games, That's exactly what I said.

And if you're not a fan, That's your problem dude, No need to rub it on my face.

  • legendary music

  • greatest game b4 bioshock

  • @Ehiguy102 Imagine this with the technology they have now.

  • Bioshock...What a joke.

  • What is with this hatred of Bioshock in the System Shock fanbase, seriously?! Bioshock is one of the greatest games of the next generation, and it's from the same game series of system shock! So why do you all hate it?

  • Because the game had a lot of potential with one of the greatest and most creative settings in a very long time. It nowhere near lived up to its potential. Everything felt so half-hearted and I felt the world was not immersive and had no suspension of disbelief. Plus the game reeked of bad game design. Enemies would constantly respawn destroying any concept of progress.

  • Enemies respawn in System Shock 2 too.

  • I don't hate bioshock but it's sad to see that a pretty good game like Biosock or another good new game can't be as good as SShock² or DSX.

  • @YoMomma868958

It is the same with Fallout...

People do not like that time goes forward but rather stay in that era *when everything was still good*... I don't understand it... I admire BOTH titles. They both are made with heart and soul and define the word videogame!

  • @carfoz I do understand. I think most of people like BOTH games. I think System Shock 2 was a great classic, Bioshock was also a good game. I think people are dissapointed with it (Bioshock), because it had a great potential to be much more. System Shock 2 and even the first System Shock were revolutionary titles. System Shocks "roleplaying-elements" in 3d-game were nowhere to be found before title...

  • ..for example Far Cry-series have same kind of elements now. You can buy skills and weapons with diamonds. Bioshock is more simplified, first part has narrow RPG-elements and in second those elements do not longer exist. System Shock had better level designing, at moments (in SS) you start to wonder "where am I?", in Bioshock you can't get lost because there's no place to get lost...

  • ..Bioshock was also badly balanced. At moments you get constantly killed by respawning enemies, at other moments game feels a bit too easy. There's also mechanical limitations in Bioshock that makes game harder, which seems stupid. Bioshock is hard because character can't carry much of stuff, System Shock is hard because you can't find a lot of stuff. In Bioshock (more in the second sequel) you can't return to last levels, in SS you can do that...

  • ..finaly System Shock 2 had ideas that no other game had that time.. hint of antigravity, radiation (vs hazmat suits), more interactive environment (those light switches!). This ideas haven't taken place in Bioshock. (Those should have been in "System Shock 3"!) Now Shattered horizon will be remembered as first game with real antigravity effects. I think System Shock 2 had ingredients for much more than Bioshock. Bioshock is still a good game.

  • @YoMomma868958

You're totally right, it is one of the best games of the decade, but it doesn't have the same feel as System Shock. I think it's because it's just not science fiction, and isn't quite as philosophical. Also, the music absolutely kicks ass.

  • I find Bioshock is still good but nowhere near as good as System Shock 2...

I think we just need a hardcore group of fans/programmers to create a true remake of this masterpeice

  • @metalgeard222 Yeah, can't agree more on that. Bioshock is just a bunch of ideas recycled from System Shock. Graphics are better in Bioshock, but almost everything else is then worse. System Shock 2 has a great soundtrack. It also creates atmosphere, that Bioshock does not reach. I don't know is it because Bioshock is more created to masses and consoles.. or something else..

  • there is a team that is reskining the whole entire game to make have better graphics I believe they are still working on the damn thing :( I hope they finish soon!

  • Can you play SS2 on Vista in compatibly mode?

  • no only on a Amiga lol

  • @DasZocker0815 Yes, perfectly.

  • EA currently owns the rights to the System Shock IP. Ken Levine and his team at Irrational Games tried to aquire the rights so they could make SS3 but EA refused to sell. Hence Bioshock... not a bad game but personally I preferred System Shocks 1 & 2. Shodan was a villain for the ages.

  • if they do make a remake, they better not change the music.

  • @blacksword223 Or the Story, gameplay or anything. Give it a graphical overhaul, maybe even update some game-mechanics (big NO to quick time events though) re-release it and you got a pretty awesome game by today's standards.

  • @blacksword223 Agreed.

  • @blacksword223

Or let Eric Brosius do the job again! So we could get even more awesome music!

  • @blacksword223 And tey better not get rid of Shodan. Best villain in gaming history.

  • @LandLord357 and slick cuz i DID NOT SEE THAT COMING

  • @LandLord357 Nope...Irenicus is :D

  • I had heard (I think in PC Gamer) that they would do a remake of System Shock 2 same game new graphics but that was a few years ago. Not sure if it was just a rumour or was the project canceled. I wish they would make a third System Shock. Shodan will return!

  • Yeah, and then it turned into a "spiritual successor" a.k.a bioshock, if i remember correctly...

These games... so far ahead of their time... at least got DX3 to look forward to, for sure!

  • The musical quality of this is on better than most electronica today. I will love this game forever.

  • @TehGhoul Hey, you should check out Future Engineers, they make some pretty good music similar to System Shock 2's.

  • God this game is amazing in every way, there's nothing more you could ask for (okay maybe graphics but i find them cool the old school way)

Bioshock was great but system shock was perfect!

  • well when i get my gaming degree.... i just might talk EA into making a remake..... once i get the money from the CF funds

  • This is my favorite soundtrack of tis game :)

  • You don't have to do anything visual with it bro, it's only distracting. Most people actually upload their soundtrack songs like this.

  • If Deus Ex had System Shock 2's score it'd be better.

  • you are godamn right.

  • nice place

  • this game and its music is an masterpiece

  • this is an good game, hasn't it?

  • A great game indeed! ;)

  • I agree 100%

The game rereleased with updated graphics would be ultimate. The new generation of gamers need to experience playing the game.

  • They really need to remake or just rerelease this game on steam or something...do it up so its more compatible with newer hardware and OS's and id be a happy man!

  • ICH GEHE INS BETT! =D

  • best egoshoter game thanks /̵͇̿̿/'̿-̅-̅-̅' ٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶ ---

  • this song makes me think of running in a cyberworld. i wish they included cyberspace in system shock 2. maybe ss3?

  • We would have a System shock 3 if EA wasn't a bastard and made Bioshock. Fucking hell. They took all the credit for TTLG's idea and said fuck you to us and them. Why do good ideas never get promoted? And when I say good idea I mean it.

  • anyway if they would do a ss3 im not sure it would be as good, with the newer technologies they always ruin old game sequels loll, like they did with deus ex. Deux ex 2 just ruined it, way too different

  • I think it would be arrogant to make that assumption because you never know, I've seen many sequels that are good and just because its different doesn't mean its bad to some people (Wind Waker for example). I would at least give have given it a chance. ;)

  • yeah your right but still, who knows. I guess we will find out if someday they decide to do it ^_^. Let's hope so :D

  • Yes we might. 8P

  • Huh ?

    Quad core on a 64bit (xp) machine 4gb ddr3

Works fine .______. (also in win7 64 and on wine ubuntu64)

ALTHOUGH, theres always the control and inventory mouse button problems= fixed anyhow.

..back to enjoying the soundtracks :3

  • oh and BTW. Eric Brosius was a composer of this music :>

  • all new games are just first person killing games. there is no story. just running around with a gun killing everything. but this game has so much more to offer.

  • I'm pretty sure Bioshock and Half-life 2 would have something to say about that...

  • I don't know where you're getting your facts, the likes of Half-Life 2, Bioshock and even Fallout 3 come to mind thinking of games that are more than killathons.

  • shodan is the reason it doesnt run on new computers... she lets you install the game to install herself, then she compromises your computer

  • This is the coolest thing anyone has ever said!

  • you need to patch it and will work :D

Search, I found a way once to get it running but I dont remember the site/forums ...

  • cyberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpunk

  • I really liked this song. It reminds me of a slowed down remix of the coolant tubes. Or inspired from that anyway.

  • On SHODAN... Where is Malware when you need it?

  • SHODAN is such a sexy evil bitch.

  • I really thought this game so badass and had so much effort in it. Especially the soundtrack. But....i think the first part of the games soundtrack was excellent....its seems as though Eric Brosius half-assed the rest of the soundtrack after this song. Good music nonetheless.

  • the download for ss2 stopped working. i was so sad. right when i heard i swear i could have cried. i miss this game so much!

  • System Shock 2, what a game it was when it came out! Same with the original System Shock. These days games hold your hand too much! We want games like this back for god's sake, we are not all noobs! Modern gaming is going down the tubes and fast.

  • SoDaR2007 Twenty fifth thumbs up !!! YaY

What happened to the good old days? When you were plunged into another dimension, without even an instruction guide. You had to figure out the buttons by trial and error, until you realised the instruction manual was in an obscure file called README.

  • @SiliconBong - Exactly my friend, them trusty old README files came in handy if i do say so. Figuring out what to do was all part of the fun and this is what made these game so memorable. Ultima Underworld is another example. You create your character, choose your skills and start the game with no indication on what to do next. The rest is all up to you, the player. This is how gaming should be!
