I never expected to see Royalty on the net...I subbed because I'm shocked to see a Princess cooking refried beans. I never expected Royalty to post...You must be bored....
Rule of thumb with beans is NEVER add salt (do not even use water that comes from a water softerner) the beans wont soften no matter how many hours you cook them. Always add the salt LAST
This is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. And it tastes great too. Thanks! I think I'm going to have to try it in the crock pot as well. You can't beat crock pot cooking. :)
just put the ingredients in the crockpot like you would the pan on the stove and cook on low for a few hours. Instead of mashing I put them in the blender or food processor, then add bean liquid as needed for texture. Then bake like she instructed. :)
Hi Bethcat61, I'm so sorry, I was just alerted to your question here and I apologize for not getting to it sooner.
Yes, it definitely could be done in a crock pot. Just soak the beans overnight, then the next morning drain, add in the garlic and onion as well as the water and let them cook on low all day. It is identical to the way you do it in the pan as oneholejunkie has explained!
Thanks, and best of luck. Please feel free to email me personally should you have any further questions!

I've never made my own refried beans before. But everything tastes better homemade than from a can. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
