  • Looks like you chaps had tough conditions there. Would you not consider lighter packs? I walk in the Spanish Sierra Nevada, and initially Carried 15 kg.(see my clip, Mulhacen in winter). Following advice from Youtubers, my pack is now 9 kg, (Mulhacen in February) and easier to carry. Anyway, great vid, and thanks for sharing the experience. Stay safe. Regards Steve.

  • Ka-Ta-Din...... not K-Da-Dyn. Love the videos. Great Series.

  • @26:58 I thought that was a black panther...

  • mercy?! you gotta speak just teeeny amount of french! :D

  • Have you ever heard of the zippo handwarmer?

  • Do you do things like brush your teeth and stuff when you go to bed during excursions like these?

  • :-)

  • Hey nutn, what is your preferred set of hiking poles?

  • Not the water filter.

  • You ask "How do you prevent the realities of getting wet in winter camping?" Simple, don't go camping in the winter when it may rain/snow on you, lol. Derp!

  • Man I definitely got wet working out side even on some cold wet days like that when I would wish it would just snow. But at the end of the day I get to go home. That sure looks likes it takes the heart out of you. I know your having a blast and beats work though.

  • where mountain system are you in? Rockies? Colorado maybe? and how many miles do you hike in a day normally with your pack? good videos, very enjoyable to watch. makes me really miss living by the mountains

  • Good call, and I like how you still had fun even when you all were bugging out, because that's the whole point, right? Having fun is the reason you go on these trips. Either way, I like how the point of the video was to show how a leader or even someone just part of the pack has to make a judgement call when one has to be made. Educational and interesting, thanks. H.U.A.

  • I wasn't there but it appears you made a wise choice not to go on. That shows us, it okay to back out. Thank you for that, sorry about the gear being all wet. You and Crocket built yke memories. Have a fine one

  • Last summer I took a week long canoe trip in Michigan and it rained HARD the entire time! That trip really made me appreciate what nutn and cr0cket did. It sucks when everything is soaked.

  • Highly recommend using Sea-to-Summit dry sacks when expecting any sort of wet conditions. It ensures the gear stays dry and it makes for an organized pack. Haven't failed me yet...

  • Not to seem overly childish, but 13:03 made me laugh

  • What's the definition of "Bivwack"? I remember hearing that a lot in this series and other hiking/backpacking vids of yours haha.

  • @EverythingisFire Good question. Its an odd word, isn't it? Its actually spelled "bivouac" and means: a temporary encampment under little or no shelter (Merriam-Webster definition). -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Ohhh okay. That makes sense. Just by the sound of it, I thought it meant going off trail and making your own(pictured Nutn with a machete chopping down plants/branches) haha.

  • @nutnfancy I remember what a bivouac is because of G.I. Joe. When I was little I had the G.I. Joe bivouac toy set. Which came with camping gear and made me always remember what that is.

  • I used to buy those all the time but my local store stopped carrin them but u can't go wrong with any flavor of theirs

  • 05:45 haha sound like he says ¨im gay¨

  • 24:04 - now that is what I call a truly contented smile. You, your dog, a friend, and the great wilderness. What more could any human being want.

I cannot believe I waited until now to watch this series of vids. The beauty and awe of some of that scenery cannot be put into words.. and that is from video, not even being there! I can't imagine how awesome that would have been. Hiking the Pyrenees this year, Cannot WAIT!

  • I can agree with the difficulty of bivouacing in these conditions, I actually just went on a trip with 4 other guys and we ended up leaving some gear behind due to it's weight just to get to camp, make a fire get the tent up and get some chow going. It's hard work, I was wearing a Gen I ECWCS Goretex Layer along with my Condor Microfoeece and polypros. I was sweating, and we ended up sleeping everybody in the same tent. Not easy, but I just stashed my BFM ruck under the rain fly to keep it dry.

  • What knives to you bring on this trek?

  • nutnfancy is the sheeeeeeeeit, fuck haterz

  • Try Microfiber towels to dry Allie they work fairly well and mushers wax for her paws creates a barrier between her pads and the snow.

  • @kayak17 Oo you just gave me a great idea! Thanks! -- Veri

  • Great video! Very enjoyable.. all but getting everything wet. Been there done that. =(

  • Cool set of videos. I think I have watched 99% of your videos twice or more. lol

    ~ TH

  • I wonder If you guys would have continued if Crocket had some poles..? And gloves? It would have been an extreme trip up, but maybe you guys weren't going for that snowfall. This was only a few months ago, are you guys going to hit it up again soon?

-Nuttin, what's your take on boots suitable for snow? You mentioned that it's the gortex that you prefer, but.. I mean what if your not expecting the snow? Are there boots that are versatile enough where you can use them in a variety of conditions?

  • @theshepard22 They just went up again...hang on to your hat, its going to be another bumpy ride. ;) -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy

Thats good to know that theres another adventure video coming up..

  • @theshepard22 Boots are one of the most important pieces of gear. Gortex is pretty much good for all conditions minus jungle/swamps. I would go with a high-top hiking or a light mountaineering boot. Some examples are Scarpa Barun GTX or Vasque Wasatch GTX. They have Vibram outsoles, quality insoles, they cover your ankles for support (rocky terrain/pack), rubber toe for climbing and durability, gusseted tongues so water/debris do not get in, and gortex keep rain/snow out but still breath.

  • have you ever thought of a head cam for videoing things were you need both hands but cant use a tripod

  • Dude I think there's some moisture in that lens... "sip"

  • Mr Nutn what recommend for a beginner 21 year old kid with friends for camping and hiking , the weight of backpacking?

  • @resident123456 good question! I'm in a very similar position. 21- and JUST starting to realize the power of the outdoors. There are a few different easy access sites that talk about size of bags.. I'm looking at 4,000 cubic inch bags. Osprey packs look like a great choice.

  • I enjoyed the personal comments of why certain pieces of equipment were taken, there advantages and drawbacks and how these were linked to one another to produce an effective, holistic hiking system for the given conditions, albeit a slightly over weight one. Obviously if this was the goal of this walk then it has been achieved by a long margin and you both should be congratulated. Side note: This scenery was magnificent – great camera work given the poor conditions keep up the great work!

  • Someone on this site should take critisism a little better. ya act profecional, so take critics like a pro. nice vids anyway. :-) (sorry for the spelling. English is not my main language.)

  • @lti12 Its a personal choice of teh individual. There is a chance of getting sick from "wild water". You're not garunteed to, but the possibility is there. If you choose to brave the odds, more power to you. Most don't.

  • My last comment didn't make it through, so I'll try again:

When camping in the snow, I strongly recommend a stove with a pump rather than a canisters. You can keep a beautiful flame even when it is freezing - just keep pumping!

  • ...except I wouldn't dare go backpacking without at least a makeshift wooden pole. I think Crocket has already learned his lesson :)

  • Going into the wilderness is always a high-risk endeavour. These guys have done an excellent job at mitigating that risk.

  • Comment removed

  • why do you leave the light on during the night? i could imagine many reasons, but not in a non survival mode. awesome series of vids, once again=) looking forward to more=)

  • nice video.

  • YouTube is my favorite channel. It is the ultimate in providing information. Any kind of info is available right here on YouTube. By the way, your videos are excellent and very interesting. I live in the south and would never ever go where there is snow. Just not my thing. I might add, if you have a good dog and close friend, you are rich. Don't get any better than that. I also have a best friend and lab. I'm the luckies old man (70) in the world. Keep up the good work.

  • I think tent. designers should spend time out there in the rain and snow.

  • Great videos and yes you made the correct call been in the same conditions and wished that I turned around and can not forget about the dogs safety it should be a fun time not a life saving experience

  • 6:15 My current Leopold binoculars are about 3 pounds... even w 80 pounds on my hips, I prolly would have brought them along too :-) I have a monocular\, but it just doesn't do it for me. Looking for something much lighter... soon.

  • looks like one would have to be pretty careful with that SnowClaw not to throw their back out eh? Also I LOVE Z lite !!

  • I would be happy to go to that little flat spot and build a cabin with an axe and some mud and just sit and get old, geez that place at around 5min was sooooo pretty. makes me wanna go on a trail ride. I guess allie is an official utoober now lol.

  • Interesting discussion about Youtube early in your vid. I don't think you really hit it on the head. It gives people like yourselves an outlet to share your experiences and passions and it shows through as REAL. We know that what your saying isn't B.S., you can just tell. The best thing is you don't need to own a media empire and worry if what you say about a product will effect next months advertising revenue. This is power people...find your passion like these guys and share what you learn.

  • where exactly is this? somewhere in the u.s i know that

  • comensense and training nutn puts it together

  • THIS IS A VERY NICE LOOKING LAB

    NICE VIDS FANCY

  • Good seeing you two having fun and getting another persons viewpoint

  • Totally agree, worst field exercise I've ever been on had just that kind of weather, I was so happy when we got back to the garrison.

  • Wet weather is the worst..... Cold and Wet is the absolute worst... No other conditions will test your gear selection or your resolve like freexing rain... Then again in alot of ways those conditions made this video one of the best camping videos on youtube...... Because it shows conditions that for me at least, seem to present titself more often then not when i go camping.... Its easy to camp in fair dry weather.. Even below 25 degree snow isnt too bad because your stuff relatively dry..

  • A group of friends you can hang out with,,share ideas, experiences, gear selection, problems, even accidents you came across..hmmm that all sounds like free advice to me..if there is one thing you NEVER pass up it is free advice!! Hell, all those guru's that get people begging for the answer for this and that...well we got Nutn,,Hobbexp etc..so thanks Nutn for sharing your knowledge, humour, friends(Armed Serenity etc) and gear experience to us all..ps my CS bowie machete is still a wicked budget buy!

  • Wow, I was gonna jump on the band-wagon and give that OrvarAri guy a what-for, but I think Veri already put him to shame. You go Veri!

Veri, you absolutely rock at managing Nutn's comments section..... and giving verbal lashings when they're called for. Keep it up!

  • @darkJohnSmith One of the very few things I'm fearless about when it comes right down to it, is family. I have always been like a pittbull (grrrrrr) about family, and I honestly don't know whether Nutn installed me in the comments because of that, or in spite of it, haha! Thanks for the nice comment, it means a lot to me. =)

  • Allie McB is such a beautiful dog , loyal , industrious but quiet , never whining .. I hope she stars in hundreds more Nutn videos

  • how long will one of those fuel canisters for the pocket rocket last? i remember the days of hauling the massive coleman camp stoves in scouts...theres a good 20lbs for you pack lol

  • I have a lab as well. They are great hunting dogs and they are just so adorable!

  • This SUCH a great series of videos!!! Reaity TV as it should be - unscripted, real world, and no competition - other than man vs. nature!!! you rule -- long videos but SOOOOOOOO informative and educational!! You rule!

  • I love the shots of the waterfall!

  • Thank You

  • space bags? no theyd still get wet

  • These videos are the reason i follow the project, informative and real. Thanks nutn.

  • @OrvarAri How about you post a video of your mad tent skills, and while you're at it stop projecting your interpretation of what camping and hiking "are about" onto a gear reviewer. You have to use gear to review it, oh enlightened nature master.

  • @032125 I can't believe how naive I was not to expect getting a hostile reply from some fanboi defending Nutn 'sheepdog' fancy's little videos.

I only found this video because I was looking for advice on camping on and around glaciers and I found this one downright dangerous.

I never claimed to be some purist wilderness expert and neither am i an ultralight packer, i like the toy's and gadgets as much as the next guy but knowing what to leave behind is also an important skill.

  • @OrvarAri Your "comment" was hostile and aggressive. WTF did you expect, a parade? -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @OrvarAri Dear Spokesperson for the Cult of the Armchair Commando. Only criticize AFTER you get your facts straight and you know exactly what you're talking about. Otherwise, you just look like a posturing moron. He wasn't packing for a 1 night stay, he's not inexperienced by any measure of the word. Post a vid of you camping without any "fancy gear" under similar conditions and at similiar altitude so we can enjoy you "enjoying nature". -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @OrvarAri dude. you obviously have no videos. have you not seen other videos describing the gear content of his packs or advice on how to pack?? a moron that will hurt himself will only watch one video and decide to go adventure. so shut up or ship out!!! ooooooooooo raaaaaaaa

  • @OrvarAri Hey dude, where is your video? Your going to nitpick like a douche on rain in the tent opening? I bet you'd summon a dry tent bottom god and clear the whole mess up right there? To bad you weren't there or ever have been anywhere but your desk chair commenting on youtube vids. Make a video to show how it's done proper or shut up. What's even funnier is you'll probably create a new youtube account after this. LMAO!

  • @OrvarAri Nutnfancy himself here: Um, yes you strike me as an Armchair Elitist. You weren't up there, didn't experience the conditions so don't preach to me on how I should have approached the hike & how I should have packed. It was planned as a 3 day expedition. Anytime a supposed hiker rolls in and tells me how I my system is cranked, I am instantly disinterested. The vid series shows us making a safety call and yet you call it "dangerous." Expect flak for that. Unsub, tune out...pls.

  • @nutnfancy don't feed teh trolls nut!

  • @nutnfancy

I think he/she took your advice and unsubbed. I just checked his/her account. No activity for 3 months now...

Strike one up for the good guys...yay....lol

    Rob.

    (Brisbane, Australia)

  • @nutnfancy nice nutn you really shut that asshole up. btw thanks for making such amazing videos i really enjoyed them and i think most people who watched this did as well

  • @OrvarAri YOU NEED TO MAN UP YOU BIG SISSY

  • @OrvarAri

While I enjoy reviews and vids too & respect experience, I also think the defensive borderline arrogant reply was unwarranted. I dont think OrvarAri's comment was hostile or aggresive either. Were all here to learn & share experience and knowledge. Requires dialogue & skepticism and constructive criticism. NutnFancy is not the most experienced hiker & yes a safety call will result as it will, most good, some bad. Either way OrvarAri comment was valid criticism & sb accepted as such

  • Having said that, I've been in those conditions too in the adirondacks. it wasn't the most pleasant day. Those guys left a little damp, but warm enough, still happy to be out there, and able to appreciate just one of the challenges of mountain strolling. Adversity breeds character.

When I got wet, I made it home and couldn't wait to go again, even if the conditions were the same, I'd get out there just to be there.

  • @nolobede not out of bias but i disagree he states he made the "unsafe choice" when avoiding the summit with unknown weather, unknown terrain, and with crocket with out poles on a slope probably steeper than 50 degree incline on snow and ice, and socks for gloves besides the point, AND approaching nightfall?...defiantly the safe choice, again thats not bias thats experience

  • @soldier0931

You make good points. I think my statement was rather posed from the response. Criticism (well intended) should be listened to with a "thanks". I didn't think such defense warranted. You're correct though, calculating risks the situation and randomness that nature can throw... Nutn's experience IS a huge factor, and gets credit for the call. Show me a consistently successful hiker and I'll show you a smart, rational calculating individual. Point is, they made it home, sound.

  • @nolobede im saying making a decision like that no matter how right and how calculated still sucks, you always want the finish what you start whether its this mountain or everest (at least i always feel like a failure) when making a decision like that (no i have not attempted everest i wish i could say that but i was using an example) my point was i would be pissed if after making the hard choice someone told me i was being unsafe and foolish... i would have responded similarly

  • @soldier0931

My response was about the reply only. OverAri's comment, right or wrong (wrong) didn't deserve the response. OverAri doesn't get to second guess nutnfancy since like he said, he wasn't there. Nutn had others to think about too, so again it wasn't about the call

We ALL have opinions, but the response, still was Unnecessary. Should have left it at, "This was my best decision, my own call."... and ended it at that.

On the other hand, I lash easily so maybe I would've let a finger fly.

  • @soldier0931

The decision does suck, though it brings yet another opportunists challenge for next time.

  • @OrvarAri dear spokes person of the land of d bags if your so expierienced why are you siting here trolling on nutns vids take your ignorence elsewhere he is just helping youtube community and you should be appreciative of the effort it takes to do this and film

  • @032125 I mentioned the tent simply because I was just so surprised that he let it rain into the inner tent without even trying to cover it up. I know it was only around 32 degress there and that he had already given up but if he had gotten stuck up there and the temperature had dropped he could have been in serious trouble.

  • @OrvarAri I agree with you about the tent, but the rest of your comment was ridiculous. You watched someone take down a tent after humping 80lbs of gear up a mountain all day, and from this you gleaned that they guy is a hack? I don't know about you, but I get a little sloppy after a long haul.

Far from being a fanboi, I do get irritated by internet elitists who don't put their cameras where their mouths are. Again I say, post a video. Maybe you'll teach us all something useful.

  • @OrvarAri They stayed two days vs the 3 days planned.. Please don't roll in here being a dink. -- Veri

  • @OrvarAri wow, your a douche or slut, this is his lively hood he WANTS TO SHARE WITH US (YOUTUBE UNIVERSE!!!!!) so you get your face out your ass and pay attention

  • @OrvarAri not even close buddy

  • @OrvarAri Fancy gear? Nutnfancy doesn't care about being fancy! Nothing-Fancy. HellO.. I would love to go up a mountain with him. He enjoys using the common sense it takes to be safe. A great leader, a great guy. Don't post anything at all if you wanna throw up all that negative bs. These are guys who love the outdoors, they enjoy their gear, efficiency, and lives in general. They take in the big picture, wherever they go. Try and do the same Orvar. It's not ABOUT the tent.

  • when in the army and out in the woods, i always used my flak jacket as a pillow :)

  • Feeding your dog tuna in the tent- Bad idea. Pooch farts and id guess your not in bear country. Good video and Good reviews. Leaving for a nine day hike in like a week. Cant wait to turn off the cellphone and carry my life in the wild. Yay backpaking! Anaconda- Pintler wilderness MT.

  • Cool score (music) for the video! Really sets the mood.

Great video so far. Really enjoying the adventure. Great part of the country you live in to go backpack and camp without baking! I realize this was filmed weeks back, but I'm sure it still a lot more comfortable there than the Southeastern US where I live. Have to postpone some of the tent camping this time of year.

Good advice on being prepared. Boy Scouts still have me carrying lots of gear like you!

    Keep up the good work!

  • you and all your backpacking buddys should go up there for a months and do a full season of it. your 80,932 TNPers would love to help sponsor it. you can mabey open a paypal account and we can save some pennys for it.

    thumbs up if you agree.

  • talk about owners that look like their dog...look at allie and nutns matching beards

  • I would take -10 snow and wind over those conditions. Rough trip guys.

BTW I'm a huge Alli fan. Still waiting for her to do some gear review. Starting with Springer Bike Leash :-)

  • Nutn, had an idea for a snow shovel...why not build a shovel blade that would accept snow poles then you wouldn't have to handle the blade and could possibly get more leverage and use less energy?

    what do you think?

  • Merci that u are there is it also the slogan in usa .i didnt know that merci is also sold there its german chocolate is merci well known in america. here in germany its known as a good brand which is not too expansive .is it expansive in usa .i really wanna know how much does a small box coast there . here it coast less than 2 euros

  • your dog is really great a real friend a real lady . i asked myself if every dog could be like this with your training or is it her personality what makes her so special . iam a fan of her such a nice dog .i had a cat she lived for 16 years with me i hope your dog will be even much longer at your side my cat was also special .she told me that the phone rang when i didnt hear it and many oder cool things when i see allie i have the same sympathic feelings as i saw my cat or see hear old photos

  • So how was the pillow kept dry?

  • @sparks444 I always take a pillow too (damn the weight - it gives me a drastically better sleep!). It lives in a lightweight drybag, but getting as much air out as possible is important to save bag-space.

  • Love the Intro music! I'm a novice hiker, these vids have been helpful because I'd just kept going even with the bad weather because I wouldn't have known better. I'd told myself, I've come this far, I'm not turning back now, it'll probably clear off in a little while. And I'd likely ended up stranded up there in the mountains. Seeing the kind of weather an experienced outdoors man considers bad, will save me grief and possibly death in the future. Thanks you!

  • Great series guys & Allie! Thanks!

  • Great series guys & Allie! Thanks!

  • 23:30 dogs are so freaking awesome.

  • That looks like tight shit. Raw, mountin man stuff. Makes me want to do it.

  • have u tried finding a large stick and tieing the snow claw to the stick? or would it be too much work

  • I agree with the pack idea you had nutnfancy. I just don't feel like its something they would enjoy. Dogs are pack animals, and when you bring one into your family they consider you to be their pack. Then to just toss them into a little 6 foot by 6 foot cage letting them out for a little bit each day separated from you. Its the same as tossing a person in jail and I am sure the dogs don't like being torn from the pack. I always try to take my dog with me on trips.

  • I love when my chocolate lab does that head tilt haha.

  • Nevermind.

  • Have you ever used or thought about booties for your dog? They're great for protection in those environments. Good protection against cold, sharps, and junk getting between her pads.

  • @ 7:23 "because Crocket farts alot"..... lmao

  • Allie is the greatest dog ever!

  • Nutn, youre doing it wrong

  • @LearnAsWeGo well show us how it is done then. do you have videos showing us the correct way. most people i find on youtube saying how things are not done right in videos and usually 90 percent of the time you go to the guys page and zero videos. if you got a video on how to do it right send me your vid ok. i want to see your expertise

  • @MOUNTAINOUS haha its called dry humor / sarcasm. you know how nutn always says some guys are gunna come and on here and say do this not that blah blah blah.

dont be so narrow minded. moron. ha

  • thumbs up to Jordan Romero- 13 y/o on summiting mt. Everest

  • This is amazing! So much gear you have reviewed and talked about coming to use here. After camping down in Kentucky it rains all the time and I have camped so many times soaking wet...It can really SUCK! You guys made the best of it and looked like it was a great trip. Looking forward to watching part 4 after this!

    Thanks Nutn and Crocket!

  • how about bleach for the water

  • 1. Great video once again Nutnfancy sets the standard.

    2. Yes, on YouTube, you can see reviews of camping gear, test your skills trying to tie a bowline knot or learn the fine art of booty clapping.

    3. Outstanding demonstation of preparedness with tough conditions.

    4. You sold me on vestibules.

    5. I got caught at a mountain lake in a snowstorm once without a tent. No Fun! Man did I learn a lesson.

  • you dog is great man i got a blk lab/ germn shepard mix that i took up to flat top bout 30 times when she was a puppy, nice hike and she loved it..get to the summit and in the spring jump off the top and slide dwn a 200 ft shoot, good fun and great way to interduce a pup to the mountians

  • It sounds corny, but this is the America (and the Americans) that the world should get to know. Not NY but UT. Not the fat, lazy and ignorant TV worshipers that are broadcast all over the world, but the active, educated, ingenious, responsible folks that move us forward. That's the real US. Thanks Nutn.

  • @032125

Yeah I got'cha, everyone from NY is a TV worshipping slouch. Generalization FTL.

  • @JesusFuckingChrist84 don't confuse a nonprecisive abstraction for a sweeping generalization. Besides, my point is that Americans by and large are NOT the cartoonish Homer Simpsons that we make ourselves out to be, to our detriment.

  • @032125

The comment wasn't as clear cut as you'd think. The manner in which you conveyed your point seemed... mis leading.

"Not NY but UT" is unnecessary in conveying your point. Don't get me wrong, though. There is a plethora of stupid people in the U.S that portray us in the wrong light, I understand that completely.

  • @032125 Yeah (i'm not trying to be racist here) but i used to think all Americans were fat slobs who swore all the time and watched TV all day log, eating doughnuts.

I think people think that English people sound "posh" and drink tea and eat crumpets. Trust me It's completely different

  • @032125 I guess I won't be seeing you in the Adirondacks (or the Met) :p

  • @032125 It's not corny at all. I'm a Canadian, and we know Americans better than anyone. I've met countless guys of Nutn's and Crock's ilk, and they are what keeps the US tickin' and ass-kickin'. (the good kind of ass-kickin'!)

  • That weather reminds me of England :-)

  • Nutn just wanted to pitch a tent on camera.

  • Hey Nutn, one thing I find works great are those GIANT ziplock bags (im talkin the 2 foot by 3 ft ones found in Home Depot, they come in various sizes) for keeping cloths dry. I put all my cloths for a backpacking trip in one and everything stayed dry in the cold, wet, north georgia mountains. They also weigh almost nothing. inexpensive way to keep whatever you want dry.

  • You should shave with one of your knives. haha

  • did crocket say "Im Gay" at 5:49?

  • I carry a single-walled Eureka Apollo 2, great for the winter time, at least for me.

  • 120lbs of gear between the two of you and no one brought a bottle of rum?!?!

    J/K :P

    Awesome series nutn!

  • hey nuntnfancy 3 random questions,

what type of food do you take w u other than food bars?

are there any tent repair kits and if yes do u take it w u?

if u dont make fire in this condition how do u provide heat?

    thanks

  • *chant* part 4 - part 4 - part 4 - part 4 - part 4

  • thatsa sick ass dog if it does all that with you

  • You are the best youtuber there is, straight up.

  • tnx nutn and the TNP crew for jet an other great vid!

  • Thanks for shedding light on the realities of cold weather camping in wet conditions—my experiences have been similar, but I thought I was just doing something wrong!

  • Great stuff guys!! A buddy of mine and I are heading out hiking Sunday and my son and I are going hiking tomorrow as well as Monday. Can't wait! Cr0ckt dude... you looked SO wiped when you guys were making camp. I can only imagine the mental and physical strain you were in with those conditions. Great job with making the Plan B call....and of course making hit home safely.

  • Like the saying in my family goes, "Only thing that can make you more misserable than being soaking wet is being cold and soaking wet."

  • What an incredibly inspiring and informative expedition.

  • Nutn- Just from a creative point of view, I think this is your best effort yet. The interludes of scenery and music between the dialog and trecking shots gave it a nice balance & flow. Really nice selection and use of music throughout too. Of course, its the subject matter, great information, and the cast of characters that keeps me coming back to TNP. This one fit that bill too. But just wanted to give you kudos on the quality of the production. Not bad for an old airforce guy ;)

  • Hey Nutn do you ever have a problem with Alley picking up Ticks ??

  • That's a memoriable pic at 44:35. A keeper for sure. Great job Nutn

  • How the hell am I supposed to study? Now all I can think of is grabbing my gear and go hiking. If I fail my exam, you will be the one to blame, nutnfancy!

  • I've camped in the rain plenty of times. It can be a serious challenge. One of my trick's was to use a double tarp system; one on the ground and one above the tent. Seemed to work fairly well. I have to say that I slept like a baby with the sound of the rain to fall asleep to. That and the forest always smells incredible after a rain. Staying warm is a challenge though...

  • I apologize nutnfancy but from what I have seen in these G.C. video's the 2 of you failed do too inexperience and and lack of physical fitness I will give you credit for your knee and I will give crocket20 credit for his lack of knowledge on proper gear. I live in the mountains at an elevation of 7500 feet and i can quickly tell you both that you need to do alot more research before you attempt another winter run.

  • I loved it Nut'N brings back some great point that i have missed over the easier years... You can't learn to keep dry on a sunny day.

  • Hopefully you can do some boot reviews soon. =)
