Yeah, what's the drama? Of course Rakim is high, but he's God, he belongs in the clouds. All praise to the Ra. Nobody spits joints so fresh, so fluidly peerless. BklynJayL .. I see where u comin from with some of your comments. Some I agree.. but your Jay comment in regards to Rakim is off the wall. Thanks. I may be a lot of emcees, out there that, can give Jay a good battle...but, I don't think, they can go the distance with him, u kno'?! Dope rhymes may not give you sucess, on every level but, it'll definitely put your name on the map, for sure! I wouldn't say KRS-One is the greatest rap artist. However..., I would say, he's one of the best(if not the best)battle rap artist! ;-)
RAKIM THE GO!!!!! That man makes me proud of HIP HOP. 23 years after he blessed the MIC, and wisdom still comes out his mouth. You judge all other rappers against him, he's the standard.Put 9 otta 10 of these so called great rappers in front of a camera and they make fools of theyselves, but the GOD? Yo Bklyn i'm not gonna dispute you on the battle rapper angle bcuz i know cube is not considered a battle rapper but i would like to remind you about "no vaseline" bcuz Cube can give it to you in a track if he chooses but in a freestyle rap battle Lil Wayne will probably get him. Tell Lil Wayne to make a track and put it on an album against Cube and he'll get slayed."Child Support"
Are you serious? i'm a fan of Jay's music but Rakim skill set is superior to any of these dudes still today so don't forget those classic lines of Rakim's and don't sleep on his battling skills bcuz Rakim came out when battles were really poppin. Jay's a BEAST but he can't do it to The "R"
Don't get me wrong! I HAVE said, Rakim is one of the greatest rap artist of ALLTIME...but, I just don't think, he can go the distance with Jay-Z. I understand when, you said, don't forget about the hits and, bars that, Rakim dropped...BUT, you also can't forget about the hits and, bars that Jay-Z dropped, too! ;-)
Nah. I don't believe, Jay took Big's bars. He probaly jacked his flow, a lil'...but, Jay always had his own style. Big even said that himself..., "Yo', I know a n***a accross town named Jay-Z.. He's is nicccce"! That's a quote from Big! I look at it as, Jay was sort of paying homage to Big...rather than, taking his flow as his own. He ALWAYS gave big-ups to Big in mostly ALL of his joints! ;-)
lol actually I couldn't care less about a Jay Z news article, that's no contest. Not much of a Jay Z fan although I think Reasonable Doubt was an amazing album and one of the best of all time. Didn't care for much he did after that although he would come out with a great song here and there.
i kno 4 a fact jay would get lyrically slaughtered 10x as muc nas did if he 'pushed his buttons' n if history serves me rgt bdk wanted 2 battle ra until he heard wat he waz capable then backed down, no disrespect 2 any
I'm not one of those people that hate on that Soulja Boy kid, i'm making a point about judging talent. Use your brain, don't just follow like a little mindless sheep. I remember when Hip Hop was nothing. People did it for the love in house parties. If doing something for the love is pointless they should have stopped. If they had, there would be no Hip Hop today (and no money to be made today). Now that it's making money you want people to forget about the love that birthed it?
Rakim was always outshined by more mainstream artists like Run DMC and L.L. early in his career and guys like Big Daddy Kane and Public enemy later on. He has sold alot of albums but it has been over many years. he does what he does for the love, and for his fans...and I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that his fans are all of one type, it would surprise you...the thing is, their just not 20 year old kids.
No. I'm not changing the argument or, anything like it. I'm just saying..., it's all about "bringing the most noise"! Not to say Rakim was garbage or, anything like it...but, obviously, those other guys(LLCoolJay, B.D.K., RunDMC and, Gangstarr)had to be sort of better rap artists than Rakim to recieve the kind of recognition, they did, you know? People are only going to notice you if, you're REALLY doing damage in the rap game! I'm just keepin' it 100, ya' dig?!
Sorry to say, but that isn't keeping it real, it's being fake as you can be. According to that thinking Soulja Boy is a better Rap artist than Rakim. You think getting a bunch of 13 year old white chicks in the suburbs to dance like idiots is being real? This is some pretty twisted thinking and its the reason that Hip Hop is dead suppose. Human beings have a brain for a reason. You don't determine what is good based on what's popular.
Lol.. How is that, not keep'n it 100? Soulja Boy is a TERRIBLE example to use in this discussion! I'm talking about other REAL rap artist(like Jay-Z, Nas, B.D.K., LLCOOLJAY, Gangstarr and, the sort)! Soulja Boy is "PopMusic", not HipHop! It's not only me whom chooses rap artist like, the ones I've mentioned above, to be in the music mainstream..., it's the whole world! Personally..., I think, Rakim would eat 50Cent, in a battle but, Rakim can't make hits, like 50Cent. Lack of CHARISMA!
Are you telling me that 50 Cent has charisma and Rakim dosen't? Was it charisma that made 50 cent famous or was it selling the fact that he got shot 5 times? A song only has two parts, the music/hook and the rapping. The producers make the first part so the rapper can't get credit for it. We both know that what sells records now is hooks and production. If you combine the right image and the right producers you have a star. Use your brain, stop following what ever is popular like your a sheep.
Ok. So, if you were a Record Execetive/CEO/Producer...you're saying, you'd rather sign Rakim...rather than, someone like 50, Jay-Z or, B.D.K.? If so...you, don't even believe that yourself! Better yet..., if there were two different book articles on Jay-Z and, Rakim. Which one would you read, first? Nuff said!
It's so unfair for you young people to not wanna hear Rakim now bcuz of a number(his age) when he's wiser now and got much more to teach. He wasn't one of those "i sold drugs and got paid" type of rappers so he still can come at the game like he did before and he'll make even more sense if young people are smart enough to listen, but oh yeah yall just wanna hear about how much drugs someone sold or how much money they spent.Sad!
He is the one who is most responsible for changing rap. making the ryhmes more complicated than just ryhming the last word of a sentence. into ryhming the whole sentence. He kinda made the newschool. His impact was crazy but i respect your opinion.
Lol...., iight! Well..., of course Biggie and, 2Pac is the first two, Jay-Z, Rakim, KRS-1, Emenim, Nas, StylesP, JadaKiss and, Outkast! P.S. These are extras that, came VERY close..., Gangstarr, Lil' Wayne, Bun-B. and, Dr. Dre. Top that! ;-)
Why not because hes 40 if thats the case the biggest selling group in the world U2 should pack it up right.Thats whats wrong with black people we never preserve our greats we let them fall down over age disguisting!!
As bad as, it may hurt..., it's true! Rakim knows, he the man and, always will be...but, he dosen't need to tarnish his legacy by, creating another album. That's like, M.J. coming back to NBA, at the age he is, now! SMH..
So that must mean you don't think Jay should make any more music, he's almost 40.
With the crap that gets popular now embarassment dosen't exist anymore in Hip Hop, so he has nothing to be afraid of. Do you actually like this garbage out now? Well good luck to you then.
In any case, his target audience should simply be his traditional fans, not the general Hip Hop audience. They DO want to hear him.
Well..., it's a BIG difference between Jay-Z and, Rakim. Sorry to say but, Jay-Z is still in his 30s..., he's is a mainstream artist and, people are more interested in hearing him...instead of, Rakim! Don't get me wrong..., Rakim is one of the few great rap artist but, people aren't some people aren't interested in him, anymore. He tried to comeback a few times...but, it never worked out for him. I still believe, he can rock a crowd with, his old hits, tho'! ;-)
@BK: EXACTLY, JayZ is still interesting & 39, but U KNOW WHAT, Jay is STILL gonna be interesting PAST 39! Has nothing to do with him still being in his 30s, so why even bring it up??
My Point is: I highly doubt his interest sparking, attracting qualities will diminish in eleven more months. Misconceptions like yours is PRECISELY why they try 2 lie to the public about their age.
Rakim was a good rapper, but I never found myself interested in his life, reading articles about him.
Age does play a role in a rap artist but..., the popularity plays a much bigger role! Rakim is a very good rap artist but, he can't mess with Jay-Z in a battle. I believe, he'll give a good match, tho'! Just like I said before..., with all due respect..., Rakim is a VERY good rap artist and, I respect his work but, obviously..., he wasn't good enough to bring him into the mainstream(like, LLCOOLJAY, B.D.K., Jay-Z, Nas).
Well if I had to pick and old school rapper to battle with Jay it would be Big Daddy Kane. Although I'm not sure Jay could even handle Rakim, he couldn't take Nas, and Nas SURE isn't a battle rapper, he's a poet.
I agree. I'm not trying to dogg Rakim or, anything like that. He IS one of the greatest lyricst of ALL TIME but, I TRUELY believe, he can't go the distance with Jay-Z. Hell..., I don't think, he'll beat B.D.K. in a battle! If Jay-Z REALLY wanted to go at Rakim and, put him to shame..., he DEFINITELY could do it...but, he won't because, I think, Jay have respect for Rakim...unless, provoked!
B.D.K would beat Jay Z with half of his brain, your WAY off base here. All that guy ever thought about was battle rap and dissing his competitors (which he had to do down in Brooklyn before he made it). As I said jay Z was even a joke against a freakin poet like Nas, it wouldn't even be fair.
Rakim I belive would do bettter than you think, but in the end it's nothis thing.
I'm not really sure with, whom would win between Jay-Z and, B.D.K.! That's a VERY one to call...but, between Jay-Z and, Rakim..., It would be a good battle but, I think, Jay-Z would be the victor of that one.
haha you're buggin. rakim invented the style jay has, of course he'd shit all over jay. you haven't listened to enough rakim. come back in a few months duke
Lol.. No bet son! Rakim and, Jay-Z has too totally different rap styles! Don't get me wrong tho.. Rakim probaly inspired Jay-Z to rap...but, their styles are much different. I'm not saying..., Rakim is garbage or, anything of the sort...but, he can't f**k wit' Jay-Z tho.. ;-)
jay z style is is jaz o . jaz o got his shit from rakim .. everyone kinda switched after rakim came out . some were still doing it like krs and run and ll cool j with the shouting but after the 80s . everyone started adding more words to bars . thats rakims influence
Now your changing your argument. You said a guy should get off at 40. Jay Z is 39! I said it was almost his time. Dr Dre is over 40. Just admit that the age argument dosen't work. Now after that, you said that because Jay Z is popular he should make music and Rakim shouldn't because he is less popular. If only certain people that happen to be popular make music, Hip Hop stays shallow and uncreative. It's not like Rakim was a best selling rapper in his prime anyway he was always semi-underground.
Believe it or, not..., Jay-Z really won that battle! The general public just felt sorry for Nas and, alot of people was hatin' on Jay, at the time...so, it's said that, Nas won the battle. Everybody knows, the only reason why, Jay-Z went at Nas like that because, Jay felt, Nas was still much toooo young to be forgotten! Actually..., Jay-Z helped him out of a slump but, it didn't help Nas much as expected! I feel, Nas is still one of the greatest REAL rap artist of all time tho..
Yeah. Probaly because, of the personal things that, Nas said about Jay-Z...but, Jay-Z dissed him ONLY to bring Nas out of his rut...but, Jay-Z didn't know, Nas was going to react TOO SERIOUS about it! That's the reason why, they killed the beef so easily because, Jay-Z probaly put him to the side(on the low)and, let him know, it wasn't all that serious, u kno'?! I believe, if Jay-Z REALLY wanted to get personal with Nas..., Nas dosen't stand a chance!
Jay-Z let Nas win because, he felt, Nas was gett'n too serious and, personal...because, he didn't expect Nas to take it that far. Jay-Z sort of like sent a wake-up call to Nas, to get him out of his slump because, people started to forget about him and, he's a legend in the game...plus, southern rap artist was on the rise, HEAVY so, memories of Nas was slowly but, surely drifting away. So, Jay jus' wanted to steer-up a lil' contro. with another N.Y. rapper(Nas)to hold it down with him, u kno'?
For sure! Jay went at Nas like that because, he felt that, the public was forgetting about him. Nas is a rap game legend but, his presence was drifting away slowly but, surely because of, the rise of southern rappers. Jay probaly felt that, he was alone, trying to hold it down for N.Y. while, alot of other great rap artist from N.Y. were being forgot about so, it's only fair that, he call on the next arguable greatest emcee, from N.Y.(Nas)! ;-)
Plus imma say this and if you really know Rap battles you must agree- "Ether" was even close to being a better song that "Takeover" so be honest or take another listen. Nas lyrics didn't even sound good on most of it but Jay str8 rapped and dissed him historically on "Takeover"
Oh yeah..., fa'sho! I'm going with the "TakeOver", also! The takeover was an all around better song than, "Either"(better track, better flow)! Nas is one of my all time favs., too...but, just like Rakim..., for the most part..., not to sound tackful but, he lacks versatality! F.Y.I...., just to name a few..., my example of rap artist whom are versatile that, can flow on all kinds of beats and, speeds: Biggie, 2Pac, Jay-Z, DMX, Ludacris, Emenim, even Lil' Wayne!
Come on dawg you're gonna put Lil Wayne up before Method Man or Ice Cube or Snoop. Yeah i know that HOV is on the top of my list for versatility bcuz he's the total package but Rakim is the standard which all of them will be judged in the end. Nas can't touch HOV really but he's good.
Well..., I can make an exception for MethodMan(and, maybe a few in the Wu-tang Clan). Some of the Wu. members are very good...but, Snoop is questionable(evendoe, he's one of the WC's. legends and, one of my favs.)! ;-) Ice Cube is one of my favs., also. He's a good hit maker and, one of the WC. pioneers...but, he's definitely NOT a battle rapper! Lil' Wayne will probaly embarrass Ice Cube so bad, it wouldn't be funny! It would be sad to see the look of shame on legend's face!
Lol.. Ice Cube and, freestyle dosen't even sounds right in the same sentence! Don't get me wrong..., I.Cube is a great artist! He was one of my favs. coming up in my younger days...but, he can't mess with Lil' Wayne tho.. I think, I. Cube would evenly admit that himself!
Well what would wayne freestyle like? Will he use his lil nonsense lines to battle cube. And cube could battle in his prime. But wayne is like one of the wackest rappers alive...When you look at 50 cent he used to be good, but wayne allways sucked big time.I don´t know where he go the idea of best rapper alive.
all rakims songs shut down all jays songs. listen to the wisdom in ra's interview, and listen how dum jay sounds. rakim is a cosmic conscious lyricist. jay is the best of the unconscious cats. but the worst conscious cat is destroyin the best unconscious
then if that's the case, then redman and bun b should hang it up too, right? them two niggas are past their prime and STILL are better than a lot of niggas in the rap game.
don't forget about the greatest producer of all time, premier.
it ain't about whether your young or old, it's about whether you're hot or not (when it should be more about longevity), and being hot doesn't necessarily have an age. soulja boy just turned 18 and we're ALREADY starting to see the fall of his career.

Tell Lil Wayne to make a track and put it on an album against Cube and he'll get slayed."Child Support"
bggrgg13 3 years ago
Are you serious? i'm a fan of Jay's music but Rakim skill set is superior to any of these dudes still today so don't forget those classic lines of Rakim's and don't sleep on his battling skills bcuz Rakim came out when battles were really poppin. Jay's a BEAST but he can't do it to The "R"
bggrgg13 3 years ago
Don't get me wrong! I HAVE said, Rakim is one of the greatest rap artist of ALLTIME...but, I just don't think, he can go the distance with Jay-Z. I understand when, you said, don't forget about the hits and, bars that, Rakim dropped...BUT, you also can't forget about the hits and, bars that Jay-Z dropped, too! ;-)
BklynJayL 3 years ago
are you discussing skills or sales?
KJtheMC 3 years ago
Actually, both!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
You mean the bars that jay took from B.I.G.Because jay-z againt rakim lyricly looses so bad. That it would end his carrer.
SEJVES 3 years ago
He ALWAYS gave big-ups to Big in mostly ALL of his joints! ;-)
BklynJayL 3 years ago
lol actually I couldn't care less about a Jay Z news article, that's no contest. Not much of a Jay Z fan although I think Reasonable Doubt was an amazing album and one of the best of all time. Didn't care for much he did after that although he would come out with a great song here and there.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
i kno 4 a fact jay would get lyrically slaughtered 10x as muc nas did if he 'pushed his buttons' n if history serves me rgt bdk wanted 2 battle ra until he heard wat he waz capable then backed down, no disrespect 2 any
bladeakadbo 3 years ago
Lol.. I don't believe that! B.D.K. is a lyrical genius!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Oh sorry, I misread what you said about B.D.K amd Jay Z, scratch that comment.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
I'm not one of those people that hate on that Soulja Boy kid, i'm making a point about judging talent. Use your brain, don't just follow like a little mindless sheep. I remember when Hip Hop was nothing. People did it for the love in house parties. If doing something for the love is pointless they should have stopped. If they had, there would be no Hip Hop today (and no money to be made today). Now that it's making money you want people to forget about the love that birthed it?
Onieracraft 3 years ago
If Rakim makes another record it will be for the love, and his fans will appreciate it.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
Rakim was always outshined by more mainstream artists like Run DMC and L.L. early in his career and guys like Big Daddy Kane and Public enemy later on. He has sold alot of albums but it has been over many years. he does what he does for the love, and for his fans...and I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that his fans are all of one type, it would surprise you...the thing is, their just not 20 year old kids.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Sorry to say, but that isn't keeping it real, it's being fake as you can be. According to that thinking Soulja Boy is a better Rap artist than Rakim. You think getting a bunch of 13 year old white chicks in the suburbs to dance like idiots is being real? This is some pretty twisted thinking and its the reason that Hip Hop is dead suppose. Human beings have a brain for a reason. You don't determine what is good based on what's popular.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Are you telling me that 50 Cent has charisma and Rakim dosen't? Was it charisma that made 50 cent famous or was it selling the fact that he got shot 5 times? A song only has two parts, the music/hook and the rapping. The producers make the first part so the rapper can't get credit for it. We both know that what sells records now is hooks and production. If you combine the right image and the right producers you have a star. Use your brain, stop following what ever is popular like your a sheep.
Onieracraft 3 years ago

He's 40+! The last thing he needs to do is, make another album! Lol..
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Why not because hes 40 if thats the case the biggest selling group in the world U2 should pack it up right.Thats whats wrong with black people we never preserve our greats we let them fall down over age disguisting!!
RohoicRamz94 3 years ago 3
As bad as, it may hurt..., it's true! Rakim knows, he the man and, always will be...but, he dosen't need to tarnish his legacy by, creating another album. That's like, M.J. coming back to NBA, at the age he is, now! SMH..
BklynJayL 3 years ago
So that must mean you don't think Jay should make any more music, he's almost 40.
With the crap that gets popular now embarassment dosen't exist anymore in Hip Hop, so he has nothing to be afraid of. Do you actually like this garbage out now? Well good luck to you then.
In any case, his target audience should simply be his traditional fans, not the general Hip Hop audience. They DO want to hear him.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
Well..., it's a BIG difference between Jay-Z and, Rakim. Sorry to say but, Jay-Z is still in his 30s..., he's is a mainstream artist and, people are more interested in hearing him...instead of, Rakim! Don't get me wrong..., Rakim is one of the few great rap artist but, people aren't some people aren't interested in him, anymore. He tried to comeback a few times...but, it never worked out for him. I still believe, he can rock a crowd with, his old hits, tho'! ;-)
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Uh, JayZ is THIRTY NINE, this is his LAST YEAR in his 30s.
YoBootyStinks 3 years ago
That may be true...but, Jay-Z is still intresting(no disrespect to Rakim)!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
@BK: EXACTLY, JayZ is still interesting & 39, but U KNOW WHAT, Jay is STILL gonna be interesting PAST 39! Has nothing to do with him still being in his 30s, so why even bring it up??
My Point is: I highly doubt his interest sparking, attracting qualities will diminish in eleven more months. Misconceptions like yours is PRECISELY why they try 2 lie to the public about their age.
Rakim was a good rapper, but I never found myself interested in his life, reading articles about him.
YoBootyStinks 3 years ago
Age does play a role in a rap artist but..., the popularity plays a much bigger role! Rakim is a very good rap artist but, he can't mess with Jay-Z in a battle. I believe, he'll give a good match, tho'! Just like I said before..., with all due respect..., Rakim is a VERY good rap artist and, I respect his work but, obviously..., he wasn't good enough to bring him into the mainstream(like, LLCOOLJAY, B.D.K., Jay-Z, Nas).
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Well if I had to pick and old school rapper to battle with Jay it would be Big Daddy Kane. Although I'm not sure Jay could even handle Rakim, he couldn't take Nas, and Nas SURE isn't a battle rapper, he's a poet.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
Rakim would look stupid beefing with anybody and taking the stance he always has on knowledge.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
True.
BklynJayL 3 years ago
BklynJayL 3 years ago
B.D.K would beat Jay Z with half of his brain, your WAY off base here. All that guy ever thought about was battle rap and dissing his competitors (which he had to do down in Brooklyn before he made it). As I said jay Z was even a joke against a freakin poet like Nas, it wouldn't even be fair.
Rakim I belive would do bettter than you think, but in the end it's nothis thing.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
I'm not really sure with, whom would win between Jay-Z and, B.D.K.! That's a VERY one to call...but, between Jay-Z and, Rakim..., It would be a good battle but, I think, Jay-Z would be the victor of that one.
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Jay is not as great at batteling as you think.Rakim would make his ears bleed. He would destroy jay in every bar...Thats how it is.
SEJVES 3 years ago
I don't know about that ans. dogg! Jay didn't get his position for no reason.
BklynJayL 3 years ago
haha you're buggin. rakim invented the style jay has, of course he'd shit all over jay. you haven't listened to enough rakim. come back in a few months duke
isportshades 3 years ago
Lol.. No bet son! Rakim and, Jay-Z has too totally different rap styles! Don't get me wrong tho.. Rakim probaly inspired Jay-Z to rap...but, their styles are much different. I'm not saying..., Rakim is garbage or, anything of the sort...but, he can't f**k wit' Jay-Z tho.. ;-)
BklynJayL 3 years ago
jay z style is is jaz o . jaz o got his shit from rakim .. everyone kinda switched after rakim came out . some were still doing it like krs and run and ll cool j with the shouting but after the 80s . everyone started adding more words to bars . thats rakims influence

YoBootyStinks 3 years ago
Gangstarr(one of my favs.)was mainly underground, in his career...but, even some of his music made it into the national music airways!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Now your changing your argument. You said a guy should get off at 40. Jay Z is 39! I said it was almost his time. Dr Dre is over 40. Just admit that the age argument dosen't work. Now after that, you said that because Jay Z is popular he should make music and Rakim shouldn't because he is less popular. If only certain people that happen to be popular make music, Hip Hop stays shallow and uncreative. It's not like Rakim was a best selling rapper in his prime anyway he was always semi-underground.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
He could try to target his traditional audience...but, at this time..., they have bigger things to worry about...other than, buying a CD!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Believe it or, not..., Jay-Z really won that battle! The general public just felt sorry for Nas and, alot of people was hatin' on Jay, at the time...so, it's said that, Nas won the battle. Everybody knows, the only reason why, Jay-Z went at Nas like that because, Jay felt, Nas was still much toooo young to be forgotten! Actually..., Jay-Z helped him out of a slump but, it didn't help Nas much as expected! I feel, Nas is still one of the greatest REAL rap artist of all time tho..
BklynJayL 3 years ago
lol ummm, Jay Z was the only one people were feeling sorry for, trust me.
Onieracraft 3 years ago
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Nas beats jay-z easy.Nas is a lyrical master.You can´t compare jay to Nas.That is a crime...
SEJVES 3 years ago 2
Jay-Z let Nas win because, he felt, Nas was gett'n too serious and, personal...because, he didn't expect Nas to take it that far. Jay-Z sort of like sent a wake-up call to Nas, to get him out of his slump because, people started to forget about him and, he's a legend in the game...plus, southern rap artist was on the rise, HEAVY so, memories of Nas was slowly but, surely drifting away. So, Jay jus' wanted to steer-up a lil' contro. with another N.Y. rapper(Nas)to hold it down with him, u kno'?
BklynJayL 3 years ago
thats very true . he wanted to be friends with nas .. jay woulda gone in ...proper . im not saying he woulda won . but he played real dirty.
kedordu 2 years ago
For sure! Jay went at Nas like that because, he felt that, the public was forgetting about him. Nas is a rap game legend but, his presence was drifting away slowly but, surely because of, the rise of southern rappers. Jay probaly felt that, he was alone, trying to hold it down for N.Y. while, alot of other great rap artist from N.Y. were being forgot about so, it's only fair that, he call on the next arguable greatest emcee, from N.Y.(Nas)! ;-)
BklynJayL 2 years ago
Plus imma say this and if you really know Rap battles you must agree- "Ether" was even close to being a better song that "Takeover" so be honest or take another listen. Nas lyrics didn't even sound good on most of it but Jay str8 rapped and dissed him historically on "Takeover"
bggrgg13 3 years ago
Oh yeah..., fa'sho! I'm going with the "TakeOver", also! The takeover was an all around better song than, "Either"(better track, better flow)! Nas is one of my all time favs., too...but, just like Rakim..., for the most part..., not to sound tackful but, he lacks versatality! F.Y.I...., just to name a few..., my example of rap artist whom are versatile that, can flow on all kinds of beats and, speeds: Biggie, 2Pac, Jay-Z, DMX, Ludacris, Emenim, even Lil' Wayne!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Come on dawg you're gonna put Lil Wayne up before Method Man or Ice Cube or Snoop. Yeah i know that HOV is on the top of my list for versatility bcuz he's the total package but Rakim is the standard which all of them will be judged in the end. Nas can't touch HOV really but he's good.
bggrgg13 3 years ago
Well..., I can make an exception for MethodMan(and, maybe a few in the Wu-tang Clan). Some of the Wu. members are very good...but, Snoop is questionable(evendoe, he's one of the WC's. legends and, one of my favs.)! ;-) Ice Cube is one of my favs., also. He's a good hit maker and, one of the WC. pioneers...but, he's definitely NOT a battle rapper! Lil' Wayne will probaly embarrass Ice Cube so bad, it wouldn't be funny! It would be sad to see the look of shame on legend's face!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Lil wayne could never beat ice cube in a freestyle battle. He couldn´t even beat a MC that haves a bad diareah.Wayne is garbage!
SEJVES 3 years ago
BklynJayL 3 years ago
Well what would wayne freestyle like? Will he use his lil nonsense lines to battle cube. And cube could battle in his prime. But wayne is like one of the wackest rappers alive...When you look at 50 cent he used to be good, but wayne allways sucked big time.I don´t know where he go the idea of best rapper alive.
SEJVES 3 years ago
I dunno 'bout that! Lil' Wayne always being a wack rap artist is VERY arguble!
BklynJayL 3 years ago
That maybe true of Nas but ur incorrect about Ra- peep the Punisher, No Omega, Untouchable, etc, so many different flow patterns n styles.
reggiemunch 3 years ago
Yeah. Those songs by Ra. are VERY good...but, that's only a FEW out of MANY(compared to Jay-Z).
BklynJayL 3 years ago
