Shahir is a great ambassador for the game. He was recently in D.C. area and gave an exhibition. He is a great player and a great speaker. The crowd really enjoyed him.
Actually the power is generated from his planted feet, transferred body weight and the stability in his legs and shoulder. the follow-through and stable wrist provide control.
@huntrichardson Must remember the cocked wrist. The turning action of your forearm through the shot is another big source of power. Not a bending of the wrist though, that stays relatively cocked. It's the rotation of the forearm one must remember.
@katapila Yes, we're nitpicking! rotating forearm transfers the power that started in shifted body weight & stability in legs and shoulder.
Step #4 (slo-mo text) says "Power comes FROM follow-through". it does not in this clip. it originates in Shahier's legs. when he hits harder he cocks his wrist and then actually straightens it.
Power sequence is legs->spine->shoulder->upper arm->elbow->forearm->wrist (also adds control). the kinetic energy progresses up/out through the bones & joints.
These vids are great! Now if only you would do one to show me how to dig out those bloody balls from the back corners, rather than having to double-handed scoop them!
Razik seems to counter his balance with his arm, is this recommended or just natural?

Putting your opponent under pressure. By hitting it early, before it bounces, it catches them out of position (away from the T)
