'Optometrist' sounds like such a made up word. Surely the word is 'optician'.

@SwitchRich I think an optician is a professional who makes and dispenses eyeglasses, or other corrective lenses. An optometrist is the doctor.

Except for the part about there being no respectable work left for new graduates after they finish school. That would have been helpful to include. Optometry is a terrible investment. You'll spend a couple of hundred thousand & end up working at Walmart or Sam's Club as an independent contractor for low pay. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. The vast majority of grads are forced into commercial optometry. Please, ask around. Watch this.....
