I liked the two episodes with Martine Beswick as the Black Widow and some of Robert Webber's lines in the pilot. Admittedly, i saw more of the Antony Hamilton episodes than the Jon Erik Hexum ones.
I loved the show Cover Up. I was just 12 when Jon died and I was very sad. I wanted to be just like him. Thanks for the great memories Jon, you are missed.
I loved this show. I remember I turned 12 the day before he died. I wanted to be just like him when I was a kid. Thanks for all the memories Jon, you are missed.
I loved this show when I was a kid and I remembered when he died it was the day after I turned 12. I loved Voyagers too. Where have all the good shows gone? Now just reality t.v.....how boring. You are missed Jon. Thanks for all the memories.
This tv series was popular in former Yugoslavia. It was broadcast on TV NS (Televison Novi Sad) everz Friday night at 20.00CET. I remebrer every episode, particularly Hexum's last episode - Golden Opportunity, and episode Who's Trying to Kill Miss Globe?.
jon eric hexum shot himself on my birthday as i recall and it never meant as much afterwards. does anyone have or remember an episode where a doctor hypnotized jennifer o'neil's character using the phrase "the water is warm". i saw the end of that episode long ago and have wanted to see the first part forever. i can't find plot summaries for the episodes and it seems like it'll never be released...just curious
We can only hope 20th Century releases this series. I was able to see this first run on CBS and later in repeats on Lifetime in the mid to late 80's. Great memories
i loved this show! i saw it for sale on some tv addicts website for $100. can't afford that yet. waiting for dvd rental, i guess. i know it's cheesy, but part of what made the show for me was the opening credits and that catchy "hero" song!
I remember watching thisshow on saturday nights(I think) with my mom when I was little.I think I vaguely remember hearing that he died on the set of the show.
i recall my mother telling me that he shot himself with a gun. put a gun to his temple that were filled with blanks, not knowing that it was even loaded
right it was a blank which fired a dime sized piece of plastic through his brain, from all accounts it was a reckless, stupid thing to do, but still, damn bogg, also there is a good backstory about his gf, and the peewee herman connection
I vaguely remember this series, but for all the wrong reasons. Namely, a young actor being cut down in the prime of his life. But honestly, what a load of cheesy 80's pap.
Wait! What about Tony Hamilton? He's that other guy who took Jon's place. He was a wonderful, dreamy, fairy tale prince of a man who himself died too soon, in 1995 of AIDS. I'll put in my two cents and say that it is his episodes that I best remember of this great show.
He was frustrated with the equipment and tired. His last words were, "Let's see if this one will take me out." He had no idea that movie blanks have a wax-covered paper wad covering them.
Jennifer O'Neill spoke out against the producers for overworking them to the point where Mr. Hexum was tired, frustrated and became careless.
He was a good actor, and he would have become a great actor had he lived.
The show couldn't survive without Jon. Yes, i think the show was cursed from the word go. I watched the program. Still can't believe to this day why he chose to play with a gun. Stuff he never got to do and for us to see.
It does seem crazy that he played with the gun, yes; but he honestly believed it was safe. Many of us have done stupid things when we've been bored or frustrated. Of course one could argue that the studio was massively negligent in having left him with the gun. It should have been taken away when filming stopped. Twenty four years too late to worry about that, though. :(
Mon dieu, je regardais cette série quand j'étais petite, à la fin des années 80. J'adorais Jon Erik Hexum. C'étais mon héros. Presque vingt ans plus tard, je l'adore toujours autant. A french fan.
I loved Jon Erik and adored Cover up. I must admit as a teen I always had a creepy feeling when Jon Erik's name was shot in the credits, then when he had his accident and later died I almost freaked. BRRRR!
Yes, academy is right, EG Daily is singing the theme. I really like her rendition of it. Too bad she never sang more in the 80's teen movies she was in. Would have been awesome to hear her in Valley Girl.
Teraz mam 23 lata a wspomnienia wciaz zywe :)
This is E.G. Daily singing the theme song...she was dating Jon at the time of his death. Academywin... EG Daily as in Tommy Pickles from Rug Rats. It is strange to hear it now. I love it by Bonnie Tyler.
Fantastic... I´m from Brasil and I loved "Cover Up" episodes when I was a kid!!! Jon-Erik Hexum, Jennifer O´Neill, Antony Hamilton... great talents!!!
Hey, I´d like to watch the complete opening sequence... Is it possible??
I loved this series when I was a kid! I was in love with Jon Erik and was devastated when he died. Thanks for this video I've been looking for Cover Up videos for forever!
he was hamming it up with crew members during a delay in filming and jokingly said "can you believe this crap?", put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. it was a .44 magnum with blanks, but apparently Hexum didn't realize that a magnum--even with blanks--fired at point blank range can be fatal. When it happened, i was around 12 and found it hard to believe that this young, handsome actor with his life and career in front of him was gone. My sister loved both Cover-Up and Voyagers.
@cristinablueranger On October 12, 1984, between filming scenes on the set of Cover Up, Hexum was critically wounded after he placed a .44 Magnum prop gun loaded with blanks to his temple and pulled the trigger.[ Police later reported that Hexum had been playing Russian roulette, having loaded three empty cartridges and two blanks into the cylinder. He eventually placed the gun to his head and, after saying, "Let's see if I've got one for me!" pulled the trigger. (accident )
Damn...I think I've seen the credits before, but I didn't realize how eerie it is when his name pops up. I know they aired a few episodes after his death, but I'm guessing the producers couldn't have edited new footage into the credits?
Thanks, someone had this posted but they took it down. The opening makes me cringe a bit when Jon's' name comes up. They could have thought of something better I think. Love G.
