I think this guy's wisdom is self indulgent, watered down fluff and his statements on theism demonstrates this most strongly. Buddha, in fact, for example, is not a "god" and Buddhism itself non-theistic by nature. Yes, we were created by the Creator. But this Creator is not defined by our perceptions. God is what God is with or without us.

Mr. Red Crow is stating that by 'planting' (and nuturing) something in the earth, that the planter becomes connected to the natural cycles which happen all around (and within us). The realization of this point makes one realize the connected-ness of humans, to the earth which sustains us. Therefore, by damaging the earth, water, sky, we also harm ourselves.
