I am a huge Yankees fan and always will be, but Yadi is clearly the best defensive catcher of our generation. How many catchers do you know of that can throw a 1.52 poptime? He blocks everything, he receives so relaxed and steals strikes effortlessly. don't get me wrong though, posey and Russell Martin and McCann are all great catchers. But better than yadi? Not even close. His offensive production may not be amazing, but that's why there are 8 other players in the lineup to pick him up. Defens

@STLCards1494 Yeah Mauer isn't anywhere close to Yadi defensively, plus I like how Yadier stood up for his team, city and fans in Cincy last year, that was killer. The fallacy with ranking catchers is they always rank them by offensive stats. Just look at any commentary, they immediately mention BA, Slugging% blah blah blah. It's almost like throwing out runners,saving pass balls and actually playing the position is just a plus if you have a catcher who can do that, it makes me laugh.

@jcdixon97 Joe Mauer has a stronger arm. If not, Yadier doesn't have that much better of an arm than Mauer. I'm A red Sox fan and I like them both but Mauer is better

@tng150 I agree that Mauer probably has a stronger arm but Yadi is still better defensively. He's around 46% CS for his career and has over 40 pick off's by himself. Mauer is a better hitter but my comment was about Yadi defensively and Mauer is no where close to having those defensive numbers.

@maddenchiefs Brian McCann has a gun for an arm but he makes many errors I wouldn't say he's better defensivley, And Victor Martinez is really inconsistent defensivley. I would take a strong offensive catcher who's shaky defensivley any day though

so true, the only way wellemeyer can win is if the offense can get about 10 runs...which happens very rarely. be prepared for wellemeyer to give 5 or 6 runs up in as many innings of work...

on the other hand...yaddi. straight up stud. one of the best players out there and one of my favorites. he and pujols are the best
