I'm 50+ yrs old. I had heard of this from my family. Ball lightning entered my aunt's house nearly 70 yrs ago and moved down the wall and across the floor slowly then disapated. So glad I finally got to see what it actually looks like!
@glenwoodfin just to let you that ball of lighting your aunt saw is called: Saint Elmo's Fire. Its caused by electro-magnetic forces from lighting, it usually happens on airplanes though. My mother experienced one when she was a flight attendent and she described it as "it felt like a strong force hit the airplane and she saw these strange luminescent balls of lightning with a blue hue, that seemed like dancing blue lights, kind of like a pilot light."
This video just changed my life! I've been franticly searching for an explanation for this "UFO" I saw the other night!!!! I finally got my answer!!!!
you guys are retarded its not a friggin ufo if you have ever visited brisbane you would know we have an annual river fire. during that an f1-11 flys through and leaves an after burn. I have been laughing my ass off knowing you guys actually think this is a ufo
@lwestmcinnes More significantly, for anyone who suggests that this is not ball lightning by pointing out that the background comments in the audio track sound like those present KNEW they were watching a plane and that an air force base hosting two F/A-18F squadrons is right on Brisbane's doorstep, they find that their comments keep disappearing from this video! Ball lightning fakers conspiracy theory confirmed, don't you think?
About nine years ago my brother and I witnessed something identical to this in Beaverton, Oregon. We thought it was a UFO and I told my parents but they thought I was crazy! Now I believe that what I saw was this phenomenon!
@TheSambolini (continued) -- occurrence." Many of the hypotheses are along the lines of saying this, but it would take forever (obviously) to type everything up on here. But I do recognize what you're saying: "would YOU know exactly how long ball lightning lasts or what it looks like". I know how it looks like, as should you, from countless videos showing ball lightning. But there is actually no way for me, or a professional to know EXACTLY how long it lasts. I just go on what I've --
@TheSambolini It's not a word. An easier way for you to check is type out "encyclopaedic", and observe the red line underneath it. Signifying a false word and/or misspelling. Also, there is no possible way for me to find all of the articles and names from what I've read. But most of them say about the same thing. "Instances of ball lightning observed by scientists appear to last approximately 30-40 seconds at one time. But in rare situations, they can reappear, almost as if it's a new --
@TheSambolini So I can't know a lot about something because I'm 15 years old? That's probably just a lame excuse for you to use to make yourself feel less inferior when someone corrects you. Yes, I'm 15. Yes, I've experienced ball lightning. Yes, I've read scientific hypotheses on it. Yes, I've read many entries on it. And yes, you're trying to correct me on something as simple as this, when you don't even realize "encyclopaedic" isn't even a real word. So, thanks for that. ^.^
Ball lightning or other plasma event. I know a bit about plasma physics and yes it is RARE. I have seen it ONCE ever and I have thousands of hours of sky watching.
@TheSambolini rain doesn't matter, and it's a lot further away than is apparent from the video, so well behind the city.. Ahh hell who am I even arguing with.
Perhaps ball lightning is stable plasma? I've made something similar in my microwave. It behaves the same way, though mine isn't always as stable as others that I've seen.
I think I might've seen one of those at home (Puerto Rico). My dad took a picture of a stange ball just like this one. He thought it was the moon cause it was very still. Problem is, 5 minutes later the "moon" was nowhere to be seen. The actual moon showed up hours later. That was years ago and I still keep wondering what the hell is the strange white ball in the picture we took. It could be the same strange phenomenon you videotaped.
This is NOT ball lighting. And it is certainly not an airplane. Leaving little else as a possibility. You are lucky to have experienced it. Few have ever had the opportunity to.
trust me: I know from experience. The next time you see anything like that. Run or get in the car and get the hell away from it. you can think its whatever the hell you want, but I know what it is and Im telling you next time run,or you'll have the therapy and/or medical bills to wish you had
@TheSambolini Wait so you just got told you'd faked an alien sighting when in the description you even said you DON'T think it was anything like that. Then you got told you're wrong and you DID see aliens by someone who wasn't there and didn't take the footage.
if you have nothing to prove then why are you replying to all the comments saying if its not ball lightning what is it. dont you think if it was over the city and lighting up the sky like that then other people would have got pics or filmed it too ?
@TheSambolini so you are from brisbane and you just happened to upload a ball ligthning vid from brisbane ? that was taken by someone else ? its interesting how there is not one piece of info anywhere on the net to back up ball lightning or anything like this in or around brisbane on 27th jan 2010.

If anyone has seen the Phoenix lights the footage and eye witness accounts looked identical to this and the descriptions from many were of a round/oval orange/white pulsating and swirling light, but there were several travelling in unison. Thousands of people witnessed that event and there was footage. I just watched a documentary on it. That was on a clear night as well. If this is ball lightning that's an odd coincidence...
i have seen this same phenomena before, it's not fake. I was waiting with my family outside an olive garden when i was 13 years old. I saw a flash of light and looked into the sky, a ball of yellow orange light came down from out of the clouds though it was about a 1/6 of the size and lasted the same fraction of time. Great video!
@LittleBananaBoy Buddy, you know its "plasma" ye? plasma can go through stuff, aka it can go through your wall, if you dont touch it, nothing happens, also, that kind of country doesnt exist since the sienticts would've had WAY more info on ball lightning if it did.
indeed ball lightning but the dimensions are staggering the clouds are lit up which means it is as big as the clouds it is passing in front of otherwise how would the clouds absorb the light from a small object versus a big object which obviously this is. Good catch
@trolljenhors Actually how would you know The universe is never ending who know what kind of crazy looking beings are out there and what kind of technology they would use....it could also be a drone type thing they said they seen balls of light like that following airplanes in WWII alot of people seen them the explaination is that its mecury with to rotating spheres around the mecury casuing a gravitational pull allowing the craft to fly...idk look it up itll explain it better than i can...
I used to think tsunamis and tornadoes were the neatest weather phenom. This, however, is a billion times cooler. I would have thought it was a meteor about to destroy the city at first. Neat.
Fantastic footage, whatever it is. I'm honestly inclined towards an extra terrestrial craft, but I could easily see how it could be a mere (albeit extraordinary) atmospheric event.
If that was the moon it wouldn't move that fast. And whoever did the video is lucky that they didn't come face to face with that becuz if they got too close they would be fried
No one has an adequate explanation of this and it has been reported for years . I think it is the plasma equivalent of a smoke ring ,imagine a doughnut with a very small hole and steep sides spinning fast
I saw one of these at about 7 years old, it travelled down a phone line about 20ft from the ground for about 3 meters. Wish i got a video, if camera phones were even around back then.
i red this in a boook but sientists say that ball lighting is actuly alout of enegy that is being attracted into a little area making a ball of enegy aka BALL LIGHTING
I saw a huge lightning strike the top of a mountain in Monument Colorado 2002. The ball lightning it produced floated down the mountain side it appeared to grow in size. Near tbe bottom of the mountain it was tbe size of a football field. We knew it was not a UFO as I saw the lightning strike and whitnessed the ball grow. On all must have travelled 3000 ft on about 2 mins. We were about 2 miles away
it almost looks like a missile taking off at first because of its velocity and tail but there wasnt any smoke and it had very eradic movement. amazing video!
I saw ball lightning once in Texas, it seemed to float in the air for a long time and then slowly floated down to the ground. But when it hit the ground it suddenly became a spiderweb of electricity that flashed aver a much wider circle for a couple of seconds and then disappeared.
0:16 - Awesome thunder, i hear a kid getting scared of it LOL. Too bad the camera lacks its own mind to adjust its focus accordingly to the zoom. Details got lost... =/
These are orb manifestations. They're typically labeled as UFOs, which to me makes much more sense then a scientifically hypothetical presumption that lightning can form a ball of concentrated energy. Even more presumptuous that said ball could maneuver through the sky & intelligently change direction? I honestly think the term "ball lightning's" just an attempt to debunk accounts of these vivid, luminescent phenomena that frequent the night sky. I hate to break it to you skeptics, but this's BS
why does nobody believe in ball lightning? its not like a ufo, is it that unreasonable to think that lightning forms into a ball and floats around for a few seconds? of all the things that we dont know about the planet, how can we possibly know that ball lightning doesnt exist? call me crazy, ive seen it, on my road, and a few seconds later, it exploded into thunder, it was terrifying.
i thought it pops :D

What I suggest, is that when it's thunder storm, close the windows. Because these ball's flow with wind.
Five years ago my friends house bunded down to ashes cause of the ball.
The ball got into the ventelation and then into kitchen.
Even they can get into 10X10 cm holl if wind flowes throught it.

I saw one of these at about 7 years old, it travelled down a phone line about 20ft from the ground for about 3 meters. Wish i got a video, if camera phones were even around back then.

I saw ball lightning once in Texas, it seemed to float in the air for a long time and then slowly floated down to the ground. But when it hit the ground it suddenly became a spiderweb of electricity that flashed aver a much wider circle for a couple of seconds and then disappeared.
