Blanka is in fact far better then Gief will ever be.

Either way, the priority on all moves like lariat, lightning legs, blanka's lightning etc etc is extremely odd. If you're anywhere near them, you simply have to wait at their leisure until they're done, then do some kind of psychic move to shove it up their ass.

Either that or fireball 'em.

I play boxer. Gief is an easy matchup for me, if only because all online giefs are terrible.

I guess it really depends if the Gief in question's any good. I used to main him, but it was just too easy. Granted, Blanka is a Gief-counter, always has been and always will be. The problem with Lariat is it evades projectiles, has two versions, very low recovery time, quite high damage.. as you said, you have to play a waiting game. And if the Gief's any good, he'll likely rape you on that cos of his crazy stamina.
