On the last day of each month, the top 20 entries with the most votes will each win $200 for a charity of their choice or a $200 Visa gift card for themselves to spend as they wish. They’re also giving away a $5,000 annual prize for the absolute BEST entry before March 30, 2012.
@mikesoccer11 - actually, I lived in Japan for two years, but I left about two years ago. When I lived there I worked for the U.S. Government, so I had a special visa.
In this shocking incident, close to two thousand haemophilia patients in Japan contracted HIV after using non-heat treated blood products. The Health Ministry was criticized for not introducing heat-treated blood products that prevented spread of infection. After the incident, high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Health and Welfare were charged with involuntary manslaughter.
I just got back from Osaka a couple of weeks ago. That place is awesome and I am going back this year. (also, that is where my girlfriend is from). But dude, you forgot to mention that they also have vending machines with beer and sake. It's true people. Beer 180 yen and a large bottle of osake is 840 yen. It wasn't very top quality alcohol, but I indulged anyway. Just because. Nice video, man.
Ahhh, milk tea! I visited Japan for a month and a half and got addicted to the stuff. I wish pre-made milk teas were sold in US stores. I also miss ice cream crepes from Baskin-Robbins.
Either somwhere in japan or somewhere in England is where i want to move to when i get older im leaning towards Japan becaus i can get cheap meals that are warm out of vending machines!
I went to Japan last year without knowing a simple Japanese word... I spent there two weeks, visiting Tokyo, Osaka, Kamakura, Kyoto, Nara... You don't have to learn Japanese. Almost all signs are in English too. I've started to learn Japanese now :)
I know japan does have english sign's but i want to interact with other 23 year old's in Japanese . =) plus it be the most awesome experience for me seeing somewhere new.
Sladewalters I have a question, I'm in college now but I was considering getting a job in Japan after I graduate. If that is remotely possible, how would I get around or even find my apartment or work with my co-workers if I can't speak/read Japanese fluently?
You're best bet for getting a job in Japan is teaching English for one of the English teaching schools that seek out native speakers and provide employment and a work visa for a year. The pay isn't great.
I miss these things. I used to live in Japan and usually bought drinks from these machines and I onetime bought "Potato Chip" Fries (Yes. They sell food in these.) from one of these machines.
That's tight, you're bilingual. I am too: ENglish and Japanese. I was born in Japan so it's kinda cool to see you post this. So many good memories. You have really great pronounciation. Thanks for posting these videos! I enjoy!
so everything you eat in your life through the day is fresh from the cow, fresh from the chicken, fresh from land, vegetables and fruits, and fresh water from a source coming out of a mountain near waterfall, yep, you'll never eat cream corn out of a can, so, why not????
I second Mangadood's comment, Memoirs of a Gaijin, very clever haha. Might have a flick through the rest of your vids later, only watched this one cause it came up at the end of someones else and caught my eye cause I remember being wow'ed by the venders in Osaka aswell.

Awesome video! Nice production values. I love Japanese vending machines! Another cool thing about that vending machine is that you can use you cell phone to pay for your hot creamed corn. Just put your pre-loaded phone up to the little pad next to the coin slot.
Now in the greater Tokyo area you can also pay for vending machine products with your subway electronic pass smart card. Convenience stores also accept IC smart cards.

Yes.
sladewalters 3 years ago
I just got the question. You mean, why does it say miruku instead of gyuu-nyu. Well, that is one of many strange occurances in Japanese with regards to foreign things. Cream or milk for coffee or tea is referred to generically as miruku. Gyuu-nyu would be the kind you drink straight or add to a recipe. Don't ask me why. Rice in a bowl is Gohan but rice on a plate is raisu. Seriously.
