I think there was a match i think around 20 years ago with Sgt. Slaughter Vs. Pat Patterson in a no hold's barred match they only problem was the ring was not safe or secure at those times so Slaughter got himself cut open and bad and that was real.

@JCFDiego blood in wrestling isn't caused by the chairs or objects hitting them it's from a blade(usually razor blade hidden in the tape taped round their wrists but in this case he takes off the knocked down ref) they use to cut they're head when they're face is hidden because it bleeds a lot and heals quickly hence they never bleed from anywhere else. In this case though eddie was too excited cut too deep and hit an artery causing the blood spray which doesn't happen with veins.

Actually the ref holds the blade and passes it to the wrestler when it's time to get cut. If they held the blade in their wrists there is a good chance it would slice it open during the match and cause a serious problem.

"Scraping" doesn't cause someone to blade, which is what we're talking about. And yes, almost 99% of the time the ref is holding the blade in his pocket. Say when a wrestler gets hit in the head with a steel chair, if he is supposed to bleed in that spot he'd fall on his belly and the ref would "check on him" and quietly hand him the blade.
