Thanks for this, it's one of the best explanations I've seen on making simple stone tools, years ago I did this , made an axe to build a shelter, chopping was slower than a steel axe but it worked.
Yep, you are right, I have made 1000s of these over the years so I can predict the path of the shards a little better than most. However, it is always best to use eye protection even if you are used to working around rocks.
Really interesting. Not sure you should be demonstrating this without eye protection. I don't think having the brim of your hat pulled down is adequate.
