  • I got here searching for something else, and was just about to click the back button. But then I started listening to it, and I gotta say, this is pretty fraggin' hilarious.

  • Lovin' the chiptune backing!

  • JUSTIN BIEBER IS NOT A BAND.

  • Comment removed

  • 79 dislikes.. just a band

  • I typed in youtube(dotcom) slash myanushurts and he hasn't been online since forever and this was on hes favorites

    true story bitches

  • Thou shalt kill 79 people who thumbed this down!

  • Damn, Scroobius Pip has sexy legs.

  • That was pretty good. thumbs up.

  • They did NOT just put an advert on this video.

Looks like 2012's gonna do down afterall

  • Thou shalt feel compelled to express dislike, favour or crack a joke on a Scroobius Pip video by starting your comment with "thou shalt not"

  • anyone noticed, that the scene in the tv at the start is the same as the one in the end but the second part and you see him get up just like at the beginning?

  • Comment removed

  • thou shall not dislike this video

  • Is he trying to be ironic in saying "Thou shalt think for yourselfves" after spouting off a series of commandments? A bit contradictory...

  • @fightinirish273 thats the point

  • @welshdecs I really hate that logic. I like the concept of the video, but with that single comment he makes the entire video pointless. If the point of the video is to make the video pointless then why do it? Just leave it as a quasi-inspirational satire and be done with it. Instead he just ends up sounding pretentious...

  • @fightinirish273 it is ironic, like the freedom we currently possess regulated by a complex systems of laws restricting the amount of freedom we are allowed to experience. Some of the laws are to allow for peaceful cohabitation while others serve little purpose other than to stop us rising up against "the man" whoever that might be...

  • gotta love the TeChNo jEwS !

  • I hate when videos have extra time at the end because I always have to watch the whole thing. WHAT IF THERE'S A SECRET?

  • TO VANGUARD...ONLY THE BRITISH

  • Haha, he didn't mention Hawkwind!

  • I first got introduced to this song in English class two years ago, and I can honestly tell you.. It has crushed my thoughts and sometimes it still does. 'The Smiths.. Just a band.' I still refuse to agree.

  • Thou shalt not take a picture of your abs and post it online.

  • @GenerationXeroFilms you jelly?

  • Thou shall not question the negative effects of multicultralism that so cripple our country.

  • AMEN! what a song. fucking love it!

  • thou shalt not, as a white male, act as though the problems in society are the fault of everyone else but themselves.

  • i want to rub my face against his fuzzy beard.. mmmm

  • great great great ..

    ehhh graet?

  • you=not even a band

  • I gues the stones arent just a band jajajja

  • Thou shalt not question Steven Fry :)

  • @TemmaCake4991 It's Stephen Fry xd

  • @HughHouselover Oh duh! I knew the 'v' looked out of place

  • Comment removed

  • is it

  • thou shalt always keewl !

  • @SeRoAnthem I think that last line might be a statement pointing out hypocrisy rather than issuing a directive.

  • Can someone explain the "KILL" point at the end- am I right in assuming is he provoking me to think for myself, instead of listen to every instruction people give me or am I wrong?

  • @ASP1NALL There could be many interpretations. I feel yours may be correct because the performer contradicted himself many times throughout the piece, and even said that "thou shalt think for yourselves" after essentially telling the audience how to think.

Another possibility is that "kill" is meant in a positive way, meaning to produce a really good impression or to do something successfully.

  • @ASP1NALL 'Kill' basically means to conquer whatever you're doing, as in "I'm killing it today", or "You've got shitloads of work to do, so go out there and kill". At least that's how I've heard and used it.

  • @ASP1NALL You know the phrase ' Hey man, that band killed last night!".

    That's what he means.

  • OMFG!!! this is amazing o.o

  • @3yedea its just a band

  • I thought he said "Thou shalt not read ANIME". I guess my excuse for condemning people who read anime is gone...

  • @debbiepelbry

You can't read anime... you can read manga tho'

  • J.S. Bach - Just a band.

  • @Stev02112 -J.S.Bach - Just an alpha wave

  • J.S. Bach deserves to be put on a pedestal, he is not "just a band", he's the alpha and omega of music, and a genius of unparalleled depth.

  • thou shalt not be a thou shalt notter

  • Is there a better quality of this song anywhere?

  • Thou shalt always kill.

Thou shalt not steal if there is a direct victim

    Isn't killing taking a life?

  • @SeRoAnthem

i dont think he means to actually kill someone

  • @SeRoAnthem "Hey man, that band killed last night! They were so awesome!'

    Meaning 'very good performance'.

Try to understand he's prompting better living; think outside the box.

  • @StrigExLibris Oh shit, completely forgot that expression, thanks.

  • A loop of rubber . . . . . . just a band.

  • @stoongk Boing!

  • @stoongk you win at internet!

  • Thou shalt not listen to this man! P-H-O-E-N-I-X is correct!

  • @CreditCruncher Did you not understand one drop of what the song was about.

  • lolollol .

  • Ah but are you really thinking for yourselves if you listen to somebody who told you to.

Thou shalt always kill, just a song. Just a really good one.

  • If I don't get this album I will surely die

  • Thou shall not question Stephen Fry. Love that!

  • Its more clever to go 'think for yourselves' then tell them to 'kill always.'

  • what about Pink floyd? don't tell me they were just a band :(

  • he telling us to think for ourselves but it wont be thinking for ourselves if hes just told us 400 things we cannot do and its a pretty good song apart from the last bit thou shalt always kill ruins it

  • @firelikehel4 thou shalt always kill may not mean that phrase literally. Think about; kill jokes; kill relationships; kill songs and metaphorically 'kill lives'. These lyrics can mean so much more once you think over them.

  • @firelikehel4 i love this comment... just listen to the lyrics carefully, its irony. :)

  • @firelikehel4 I think that it might be referring to the bible. The 10 commandments, which everyone has heard of.

    Xx

  • @firelikehel4 You'll find that a lot of what he says is contradicting. I'll let you figure it out after that.

  • though shall not censor the lyrics too..

  • Self-righteous shite.

  • all those beautiful vinyls D:

  • who is this epic man. i want moar

  • @lolwut6045 Scroobius Pip

  • name of this band???

  • If you disliked this, you will still remember "Thou Shalt Not..... blah blah" and do otherwise, If you liked this then you put importance in the phrase "Thou shall think for yourselves" and either way it has the same effect, same meaning. Epic win.

  • 10101010101 is not binary its actually robots laughing

  • It's Pixies, not "The Pixies".

  • "Some people are just nice." HAHA

  • The ending of this is somewhat ruined by the song title. It's like telling someone the punchline before the joke.

  • "Thou shalt not take the names of [famous musicians and recording artists] in vain" ... "Thou shalt not put musicians and recording artists on such ridiculous pedestals" - WHICH ONE DO I BELIEVE??

  • @schumacherenator

    Thou shalt think for yourself.

  • @schumacherenator

    thou shalt think for yourselves.

  • @schumacherenator its like the bible man it just contradicts

  • @schumacherenator i think he's saying to respect people who have passed on

  • i feel better 3:30 well spent.

  • yeah what's with the Phoenix part?

  • @hipser I think I read somewhere it's just a pet peeve of his. That he thinks it should be spelt differently.

  • "Thou shall spell the word "Pheonix"

    OBJECTION!

  • @ItsMYMedicine wonder how Stephen Fry spells it...?

  • thou shalt always kill.... who? sarah palin? no prob. Most people would do that for free.

  • Thou shalt not dye yourself orange.

Thou shalt not make the duck face.

  • @yacheritsi ... damn your good

  • Hahaaaa. Ace. Except the phoenix bit.

  • This song is about doing all the opposites...

  • @hexcrackerjtj You're just not reading into it properly. This thing is full of puns and metaphors. For example, when he says to Kill at the end? It means for a band to give a really wicked awesome live show. When he says 'thou shalt not [...] follow lost prophets,' there was a band touring Europe that was crazy popular called lostprophets.

  • Not by Coca Cola products? Instant dislike.

  • @2dreamy

Why don't you do some research into the company and why he said you fat bastard.

  • @xxVIKxx100 i was being sarcastic to a guy that said he disliked the video because what he said about coca cola.

  • I was with him until he made an anti-gun message.

  • @Psythik It wasn't anti gun. Learn to read between the lines.

  • @Psythik - Actually that didn't take that as anti-gun necessarily. I wish rappers would stop talking about gun, bitches, and bling and get back to their roots because when they do talk about guns its the macho boasting and ammo for the gun grabbing statists that want to take away the natural right of people to protect themselves.

  • Quite a few good points in there, quite a few garbage ones too.

Most important one: Think for your goddamn selves motherfuckers.

  • Talking over really shitty beats does not make music.

  • @PicklesReallySuck

Yea, the song mentions that too "Thou shall not make repetetive generic music"

The whole thing is an attack on modern culture, deal with it.

  • @PicklesReallySuck Posting stupid comments shouldn't give you satisfaction.. . .mmm I'm satisfied - DAMNIT. I think I get the point of this song :)

  • @PicklesReallySuck

    That's like your opinion, man

  • HE MENTIONS RADIOHEAD! GOOGOO!

  • I spell it as "fenox" thank you very much.

  • Thou shalt not make repetitive music Thou shalt not make repetitive music Thou shalt not make repetitive music Thou shalt not- I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH

  • This dude is one of the all-time freaks and I love him.

  • Thou shalt patronize a barber shop on a regular basis.

  • thou shalt not contradict thyself by telling me to think for myself.

  • THOU SHALT STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO

  • Wouldn't not taking the names of Jim Morrison, Desmond Decker, Jimi hendrix.....etc.. in vain be the same as putting them on a pedastal?

  • @louispawnville .....a good point, well made.

  • @louispawnville Can't you see the difference between having respect and being a groupie?

  • Cool song, only it might need some additions: "Thou shall not wear a trucker hat if you only ride a faggy retro bicycle. Thou shall not use a neckbeard if you are not Canadian or man enough to bear it with pride. Thou shall not use a 80's tie if it already had passed 20 years of the damn fad"... stupid hipsters.

  • everything is just a band, book, film, painting, idea, feeling

  • this is like 10(+) comandments for music lovers ;)

  • mmmmm he knows crass

  • i heard this after the daft punk show in Seattle in 07, it was mixed by the person playing the party, and it was the awesome. thanks for putting this up and giving me flashbacks.

  • i do prefer the mp3 version :)

  • @Blazefire200903 me too!

  • Fidel Castro?

  • the CRASS - just another band, what ignorance!

utube crass documentary and check out the trailler then watch the movie - the crass were and infact are far much more than a band

  • @consumedsociety You completely missed the point of that entire section of the song. Not sure how you did it... but you did.

  • fucking legend.

  • Hate it!!

  • Going along with the line of 'Thou shalt think for yourselves', I don't think you can say that any band(s) that had a massive impact on culture, pop culture, and the general world view(s) of entire generations can be called "just a band". I suppose the argument could be made that it's the actual music that's important, not the band(s), but the music wouldn't exist without the band(s). Like I said, just "thinking for myself".

  • @lycanfan A valid enough point, but I think it is almost ruined by the point that the music wouldn't exist without the band. That's obvious. Now, I doubt that a single band can change an entire generation's views. Let's look at Nirvana. I know someone who formed a cult around Kurt Cobain, and it is his view that Grunge is the best kind of music out there. Except, and he's told me this many times, he is disgusted by suicide and thinks it's selfish and utterly pointless. Think about THAT.

  • @GoreCrowVII I have. Thought about it, that is, and I still do say that, while any single band has most likely never changed the world view (completely) of an ENTIRE generation, bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd have defined and altered the perceptions of millions of people, across generations, as well as having a great deal of international social impact. I can hardly view such groups as being "just bands".

  • I really love this song. I also love the irony of following up three minutes of dogma with "Thou shalt think for yourselves."

  • @spencersghost dogma is only a form here..

  • Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry.

  • Thou shalt not use poetry, art or music to get into girls' pants. Use it to get into their heads.

    I love that line :D

  • Is still don't get the pheonix part, anyone care to explain?

  • @Firetornados It's probably just because e before o sounds more phonetically correct

  • "is it"? what? is that just an english thing? i don't get it.

  • @creepfest Yeah, it's like the English teenage girl's version of "Shut up!" when somebody says tells you something shocking.

  • @mikebx3 OH, shit that makes sense. thank you !

  • I loved this song immediately when I heard Syd Barrett's name.

  • Just listen to and enjoy the song. If not, go away.

  • He spends three and a half minutes telling me what to do and not do and then says "Thou shalt think for yourselves"...so I'm off to buy a coca cola and some nestle chocolate and then I'm meeting my boyfriends best friend in the woods to take drugs and cheat on him.....just thinking for myself.

  • @netty0011 that's the point of the song

  • @NinJackAGoGo ...I know mate..I was joking....or so I thought! Get this...I was just leaving the local shop after buying a bottle of coca cola and a bar of nestle chocolate & I bumped into my best friends boyfriend & he was on his way to the woods with some paracetamol as he had a headache. I took one of his headache pills, he winked at me & one thing led to another....now we're both covered in cola & chocolate & I feel dirty. What a day! my best friend will be mad that we made man-love!

  • @netty0011 sounds like a hella good time

  • @netty0011 I agree. Thinking independently equals just doing exactly opposite than what someone tells you to do.

  • @mieszkomieszko ....although I have been finding out this that it's not something my employers agree with.

Anyone out there got a job for an independent thinker?

I have great initiative...but don't like being told what to do...so don't try!

I expect a great salary, great working conditions and a boss who knows when to button it.

  • @netty0011 You are overtly concerned with form.

  • @netty0011 a cocky girl

  • @mieszkomieszko .....eh?....Who's a cocky girl?
