  • Can anyone post the instrumental by Sly & The Family Stone called "Sex Machine?"

  • ALL TOGETHER NOW!

  • The break was also used by Schoolly D on Mr Big Dick. So classic.

  • I really wish songs would uplift now.

  • I think Deep Cover uses this one also

  • @borchabronx "Deep Cover" uses Sly & The Family Stone's "Sing A Simple Song".That break beat has been used alot.

  • This is so heavy I can't breathe.

  • This was originally slated to the be the B-side of "Stand!" on Epic single #5-10450 (with a mx. # of ZSP 138640), before it was replaced by "I Want to Take You Higher."

  • This and "Thank You (Falettinme etc.)" demonstrate why for an all too short time Sly & the Family were one of the greatest American bands of their time. Here they're in absolutely top form, and this track never fails to lift my spirits. It's like a gospel sermon, you can practically feel the floor thumping as people of all colors and creeds get up together and dance (to the music, hehe). I's tragic that we don't have the likes of Sly & Co. around these days.

  • @moogyboy6 PLease check out a Fave of mine doing lyrics of love and unity like this. Michael Franti and Spearhead. I have great picks on my channel.

  • What a rhythm section!!! Sly is DA MAN!!!

  • KILLER TUNE!!! ONE OF SLY'S BEST!!!

  • oooh yeaaah ¡¡

  • Please DIE "RAP" MUSIC AND THOSE UNTALENTED FEMALES WHO CAN ONLY LIP SINK!!!

  • Jungle Brothers "because I got it like that" too. Classic

  • That and New jack Hustler by Ice T

  • That breakdown was sampled by a a lot of West Coast rappers but is most recognizable in the Ice Cube classic 'Wicked'

  • @vincelavalle How about Ice-T - Hustler?

  • @vincelavalle How about east coast rappers where it began. Try Jungle Brothers-Because I Got It Like That

  • @vincelavalle and Ice-T --- New Jack Hustler

  • @vincelavalle Also sampled for The Jungle Brothers "Because I Got It Like That".

  • oh man that breakdown at :55 is incredible

  • SUPERIOR

  • I wonder if any of the other vets of the 1971-72 WESPAC U.S. 7th Fleet who see this will remember this as a sort of theme song of the whole 'Nam sailor experience, whether on the line or back at Subic/Olongapo on Liberty. "Higher" was Sly's other song we played a lot - heard a lot - it was sort of the tempo of the war. Of the whole WESPAC. Peace, Al the nvp
