Referencing something already pre-existing as a meme or other form of cross-culturally shared trope would usually make it less random, agreed. Yet, referencing a meme that is in itself SO NUTFUCK RANDOM and that draws from the well of random potential so, so deep (as deep as a unicorn's vagina after my horse mounts it. It's hung like a horse) doesn't make the reference less random.

hahahahaha. i enjoyed your example. if you must know, I was explaining to a guy who was talking about driving stoned as if it were a cool thing to do that driving stoned would make him a fuckwit. he replied with the well established expression "u mad bro?" to which I replied essentially that I know people who have been seriously injured in car accidents (using the horse call in response to his meme usage while also making a serious point.)
