Notice while it's swimming by the camera its eyes are white? Thats because its at the deepest part of the ocean most likely, maby even deeper than giant squids. I highly doubt that a tiny rock collecting robot or camera robot can haul a Frilled Shark let alone find one and bring it back up here.

@fizzylemon1 I totally agree with you generally, but in this case the frilled shark was found already at the surface (usually lives 600 m down) and was dying anyway. It was a great chance to do some research without actually harming healthy frilled sharks...

maybe the difference of its natural water pressure killed it. Im sure the dolphin tank would have a much lighter pressure. I think it was suffocated.

The frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) is one of two extant species of shark in the family Chlamydoselachidae, with a wide but patchy distribution in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This uncommon species is found over the outer continental shelf and upper continental slope, generally near the bottom though there is evidence of substantial upward movements.
