  • ITZ FRAY-KIHN-STINE!!! <--- (frankenstien)

  • We're there.

  • HEY WONKA I WANT OFF!! *evil music plays*

  • AND THEY'RE CERTINALY NOT SHOWING ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!!!

  • the scene in the second movie is no where near as good or scary. Wilder FTW!

  • @over181471 i definitely agree with you

  • I always thought that this scene would seem less scary when I grew up.

    It doesn't.

  • this is well messed up! lol!

  • This scene scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • man do i still remember i miss when they used to show this it made me laugh the guy is still hularius.

  • It's like spooky mormon hell dream or mr conductors evil double tampered with the anything tunnel. funny scene.

  • @retroflashbackdude Not every day I find someone who's seen Shining Time Station. lol I completely agree.

  • @tinykicksass George carlin was the shit in the 90's man. very few of my friends remember that show.

  • I love this. It showcases the fine line between genius and insanity.

  • what a drastic change of scenery...first a happy meadow full of sweets, then a dark scary tunnel...wow

  • drugs

  • Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was never a children's movie.

  • suck on my rainbow drops and you can spit 7 colors :D

  • Haha, he is singing... O_O

  • I've always prefered this version to the Johnny Depp one.

  • Wonka planned to bump one of the groups off before they got on the boat, notice how's theres just enough seats ;)

  • They should've taken a hint at that point...

  • I can see why this is a BLAM. This is the whole reason I never watched WWATCF.

  • @jbebecker lol another Nostalgia Chick fan I'm guessing?

  • is this edited? i seem to remember seeing something along the lines of wilder turning into something that looks like jabba the hut (by way of cut scene)and one of the kids really freaks out screams and faints.

  • @seanmichealangelo No it's not edited :-S I've seen a few different editions of the movie, but I've never seen that happen in any of them.

  • @tinykicksass Coolness possibly getting it confused with something else that was equally screwed up (but oddly still permitted) on TV when I was a kid.

  • what the FUCK willy wonka?

  • 2:56 ~ Who would put the word "Hell" in a kid's movie?

  • @920arianna Never really thought of that. I guess since it's not used as a swear word in this context, it was considered acceptable.

  • @920arianna Lots of people don't even consider "Hell" a swear word.

  • gene wilder is better than Johnny Depp.

  • Alright...where do you get stock footage of chicken butchering, chameleons, and centipedes crawling over people's faces...?

  • 2:07 creepest part ever!!!!

  • I LOVE This scene! EVERY time it is just as awesome. Gene Wilder really is an amazing actor.

  • 3:06- 3:15....Gene Wilder's trademark maddening raising of his voice.

  • ....nuts....

  • This Wonka is my personal hero. I've already confused a pair of Jehova's Witnesses into confusion, but this is the big league of messing with people. :-D

  • This scared me so much as a kid.... :|

  • There is no earthly way of knowing. In which direction we are going. There is no knowing where we're rowing. Or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane-a-blowing?

  • i like it! :)

  • This movie is listed as #47 on the Top 50 Scariest Horror Movies of All Time list because of this scene along w/ the Oompa Loompas, the family-friendly ending & the whimscal sets. XD

  • Big lipped alligator moment!

  • @AlexanderT21 No kidding :-d

  • @AlexanderT21 oh, Nostalgia Critic...

  • @AlexanderT21 chick!

  • What makes me laugh is how no-one questions Wonka about the boat ride at all.

  • Comment removed

  • Damnit this willy's much more crazier than Mr. Depp

  • what is this a freak out?!

  • this is offensive to gays! who ever made this is a bigot hater!

  • @RagDollMovies How so???

  • @clarinetchum because the rainbows and the evil images. its clearly an anti gat metaphor.

  • 2:24 wonka starts his poem! D:

  • I cried for the Green Lantern to save me.

  • MMMMMMHH BIG LIPPED ALIGATOR MOMENT

  • indeed sir

  • I genuflect everytime I see them enter the tunnel, Wonka does his song and screams at the top of his lungs and until the boat ride ends!

  • The guy who played Wonka creeped meout himself for some reason

  • STILL SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME !

  • This movie was once on Cartoon Network for some reason.

  • rainbow dick. suck on it and it will cum in many different colors.

  • This part strangly arouses me.

  • @x6x6x6xlegion

And here I thought I was the only one.

  • I guess 1 person was Augustus Gloop, who missed out on the ride.

  • It refers to how bad a mushroom/acid trip can randomly turn.

  • i love that theres no dislikes :)

  • The 1911 thing is great with this.

  • DRUGS

  • "OH MAKE HIM STOP DADDY!!!" ...I said that to my mom ("MOMMY") when I saw this when I was 7!

  • I was thinking that they should have turned this into a ride for Universal Studios. I think it would be the most AWESOME ride ever!

  • I read that gene wilders ranting in all this was unscripted and the other characters thought he had lost his mind

  • My favourite friggen movie!

  • this used to scare the daylight out of me when i was little

  • thumbs up if you think the tunnel and his rhyming + all the frightened people is the funniest scene of the whole movie =]

  • had no clue pendulum sampled his speech!! 'Through the Loop' by the way people

  • 3:06 Does anybody else feel a bit creeped out that his right eye shines that way when he talks?

  • @Cuteblondie1972 Hence, "I know another dirty habit." LOL!

  • This is what is termed a "dark moment" in storytelling.

It's used to build tension and then release it.

It show us that Willy is not the sugar-coated candy-character that he pretends to be.

He can be a bit devilish at times.

  • That is why this boat is the ride that takes everyone into the invention room. It symbolizes the "journey" one must make inorder to create somehing. You must make the abstract (your thoughts/ideas) into concreate objects (such as candy bars and gobbestoppers.) His whole factory is a metaphor for this as each child leaves due to their inability to understand his inventions and suffers because of their desire to selfishly manipulate them.

  • @GurlPrincess :-O Wow... I realize that that's just a theory, but... it actually makes sense. Only one little problem though. If this is the true explanation, then why isn't it explained better in the film?

  • @tinykicksass I never got the DVD version I only have the old school VHS. Do you know if they offer a behind the scenes commentary on it?

  • @GurlPrincess I think there's been different DVD releases of it, but the one I have has a behind the scenes featurette, a feature-length audio commentary with Wonka and the kids, and a making of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory video.

  • @tinykicksass Does Gene Wilder say something about the Wonka boat ride or is it glossed over in the DVD commentary?

  • @GurlPrincess Haven't seen it in a while, but I'm pretty sure it was glossed over.

  • @tinykicksass well, if you have to be explained everything to do with a film, then it would just be boring. I mean, you have to open your mind to these types of things, otherwise you are harboring a lot of irony in your question. With inability to understand Gurl Princess' explanation. Oddly, GurlPrincess is not a youtube name I would expect to be on that side of the spectrum of thought. You should never state your moral in a story.

  • @karmaofgood You definitely have a point there.

  • @GurlPrincess wow

  • I like the idea/history of Willie Wonka so I'm going to take a stab at this.Remember when the Charlie in the Johnny Depp version mentioned that "Candies not supposed to have a point." So Wonka here is showing his audience the concepts that run through his mind inorder to conceptualize Wonka Candy. It will not make sense to normal people because he does not make normal candy. His candy is BEYOND comprehension, reason or logic like his images.

  • @GurlPrincess

The whole scene was ad-libbed by Gene Wilder. They just kept the cameras running on him. The faces the children have on their faces are them actually thinking he's gone crazy.

  • "What a great series this would have been"

Damon Lindelof took that kid seriously lol

  • at least this version is better then the god-awful jonny depp one

  • A BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT

  • @EchoBoomer1987 lol no kidding :-)

  • Oh god, I remember this scene when I was little! D:

Also, what the FUCK does a chicken getting it's head cut off and a centipede have to do with CANDY!? OMFG

  • Does anybody know the ACTUAL, not spectulated, theorized, or opinion, reason that this scene was added into the film?! Did they just do it so everyone would go ಠ_ಠ, or was there a reason?!

  • @mademan912 I've given it much thought... and I haven't been able to find one. Was hoping that by posting this clip on YouTube that someone could give me an explanation.

  • @tinykicksass Well it's only been up since January of this year so, I'm sure you and I both will find an answer eventually! ^_^ For now I'll just sit here in ಠ_ಠ-mazement!

  • @tinykicksass I have your reason. Look for the song "Through the Loop" by Pendulum. They made it to inspire the song. =P (I don't really believe this, but I'd certainly like to think so!)

  • @ElvenNoble lol Well, at least SOMETHING good came of it.

  • Why would they ever put this in a movie for children? This thing used to give me nightmares!

  • This is my favorite scene in a kids movie ever. I remember being 7 and thinking, wow that guy has issues XD I was always unhappy when it was cut out of the tv versions though D: it's just so awesome!

  • @Cuteblondie1972 WTF i never noticed that when i watched the movie! XD

  • "There's no earthly way of knowing~"

    "Haha, he's singing." O_O

    That cracked me up! XD

  • "STOP THE BOAT!!" music playing "WE'RE HERE"

  • WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH CANDY

  • i just urinated in my trousers

  • willy wonka needs some damn therapy

  • Watched alone is bad enough, but watched on drugs, it's probably the stuff of fucking nightmares...

  • This movie took a HARD left turn!

  • 1:18 Amanita Muscaria, a type of magic mushroom, lol.

  • IS TH RED DRESSED GIRL IS a SCARLETT JOHANNSON?

  • @bibip12345 No she isn't.

  • (Sigh) My first psychedelic experience! Memories, memories ....

  • LOST just used this audio for its commercial of next weeks episode... weird haha.

  • the chicken bit is messed up but i dont find this scary one bit!

  • lol I just had to look this up again the poem popped into my head XD

  • Another example is the golden goose scene. Wonka says I know what you're thinking, they can't be doing what you think they're doing. I haven't met the oompa loompa who can't do it. No kid would ever understand that, their parents would chuckle and they would ask what's funny?

  • @Russell364 when I say no kid i mean the young ones

  • There is a number of stories you would hear if you watched the films documentary on the dvd or listen to the commentary.

The Oompa Loompa driving the boat is not really driving the boat he thought he was but it really is on a track.

  • To answer your question @tinykicksass

If you watch the making of the film on the dvd, the director Mel Stuart said the film was not intended for children it was made for adults because of the adult comedy. Like the piano solo he plays to enter the chocolate room mrs tevee says it is rochmononoff no it's Mozart

  • @Russell364 I guess we both have different DVD versions, because on mine there's a documentary that says the film was made for both kids and adults.

  • @Russell364 not much substance in your answer....They are going for a trip on Amanita Muscaria mushrooms, thats all...You can see a huge one right at the start of the scene ,and several others just before they enter the tunnel(red cap with white spores)...consuming them can cause nausea, sweating, hallucinations, and profound terror, especially to those with limited spiritual awareness such as most of the greedy fools on the boat..

  • @rhetoricalparadox

    Absolutely correct sir.

  • This was one of my favorite movie scenes as a kid, but I remember it scared the hell outta me.

    d:

  • Wonka looks like Dr. Who, how ool is this. ^.^

  • I wanna go on that ride, but only if Gene Wilder is on it.

  • @commodore256 If I was on the ride, I'd ask Wonka where he got those disturbing gruesome images

  • @TomTornados

Nevertheless, I'd actually DO wanna go on the ride if Gene Wilder was on.

  • @commodore256 ditto

  • i laugh my ass off when Willy screams

  • @BloodyPooProductions Me too xP
