  • i bet they had a ton of fun writing that "poem" haha. it's too bad a lot of kids nowadays don't get this kind of classy humor anymore

  • OK everybody I get it now.

  • Hugh Is a bit TOO good at the whole angsty awkward teenager thing here :D

  • i used to write poems like this when i was 15-16 and also got into trouble oh how it was to be young and think you knew it all :)

  • OMG "unhappy bubble of anal wind", I know this is coming out next time Im drunk...the insult not the anal wind...well maybe...

  • I'm a teacher not a homosexual.WRONG.Poor Steve had'nt discovered his sexuality they apparently.

  • @MrCriticOfAll he had if you'd read his autobiography, Moab is my Washpot :) He says he discovered it at an early age, but can't remember exactly as it was a few years ago i read it :)

  • @andy231190 Oh ok cheers for the info and it does not take anything away from the guy cos he is one fucking funny smart man.Happy new year.

  • @MrCriticOfAll That was supposed to be part of the joke

  • Am I the only one who's getting nervous by seeing Stephen Fry sweating as hell?

  • isn't stephen fry a homo?

  • @surferdude3451 He is.

  • @surferdude3451 that makes the joke even funnier

  • @surferdude3451 You mean gay? Yes he is.

  • "unhappy bubbles of anal wind". lol its even funnier in stephen's voice XD

  • Some of the facial expressions Hugh pulls in this sketch are *perfect* imitations of a teenage boy.

  • Is there life on Mars, Major Tom? Put on your red shoes and dance the flunky my China girl. In the arse of the world's mind.

  • Haha Oh Dr. House your awesome

  • 'Is there life on Mars Major Tom?' That ending was absolute genius.

  • @98monkey89 It's funny, it kinda ruined it for me.

  • HUGH LAURIE, STEPHEN FRY AND DAVID BOWIE? OH YES PLEASE.

  • an unhappy bubble of anal wind...LOL who wrote the script?! xD

  • HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw a repeat of this when I was about 15 and thought it was too close to home to my poetry efforts at the time, haha

  • @AndPlus Same here. At fifteen I was writing poetry about the destruction of the futures of young boys against the backdrop of a cricket field in summer. It was a bit disturbing for a school talent contest.

  • hugh looks so young!

  • an unhappy bubble of anal wind. LOL

  • Inked ravens of despair claw holes in the arts of eighteen people's minds

  • @miri1653 Arse, not arts

  • hugh laurie looks like hugh grant XD

  • This is why I dislike Comedic Gods redoing their skits: the reaction from the audience is very weak as everyone already knew the punchlines. This is one of my favourites from A bit of Fry and Tidyman's Carpets and I found it sad to see nobody laugh...

  • No, that was just a piece of general adivce for the future. HAHA!

  • Oh how I love comments spoiling punchlines.

  • Fry has always been adept at portraying the educated, professorial type.

  • They look so young!

  • "unhappy bubbles of anal wind popping and winking in the mortal bath"

DEAD. I am DEAD. Please toss my ashes off the cliffs in Malibu.

  • "I asked for answers and I got a head full of heroine in return." Now Terry tell me who is giving you heroine?!

  • My god. Its like Vogon poetry.

  • @Blasted2Oblivion

    YOU WIN ALL THE POINTS.

  • Perhaps that's the lavatory paper LOL

  • ...several mirrors collapse in me, allowing my eyes to cave in

my ears hear the sound of a hundred bees, as my eardrums wear ever so thin...

...and when my heart bursts with anger and tears, reddened with vigor and glow

there's but one way to drown all my fears, relieving it's vessels from flow...

how i sometimes felt in high school after a good steady doze of English class poetry readings. no drugs mind you, just English class poetry :))

  • I know of 18 people who are in fact unhappy bubbles of anal wind...

  • I <3 these two. This is one of my all-time favorite sketches! Thanks for posting. I never knew they did it live.

  • "I'm an English teacher, not a homosexual" Oh the irony. Was Stephen out of the closet when this sketch was done?

  • @procritic09 I don't think he was ever really in the closet, he tried to keep it hidden in school but was never in personal denial from the sounds of things.

  • Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry! Someone drive over here and slap me in the face, nearly all of my body parts are paralyzed and I think it's traveling to my ha-

  • lols. at the end "is there life on mars, major tom?"

    oh, "dereck bowie"!!

  • wow.

    Hugh Laurie was a HUNK!!

  • Mr. Fry is extremely sweaty in this.

  • "I'm an english teacher, not a homosexual"...so ironic...

  • 4:40 is some amazing facial work from Hugh. I love the "12-year-old boy proud of his little joke."

  • i prefer laurie in stuart little, that movie was his best work.

  • THATS MY EXACT SCHOOL BLAZER

  • I'm American, & 13, & honestly I don't care for Laurie's performance on House, although he is a marvelous performer! I'd rather watch his old comedy sketches with Mr.Fry, because the two of them together just defines comedy. Honestly, I rather British humour, other then American. It's classier, and it's hilarious!

  • @xxLexaBOOxx did u spell humour with an extra u naturally?

  • @kittycat0100 This is Lexa (my other account) And, yes, I do spell it like that. As well as other words & I do get points taken off in school for this exact reason. It's so completely stupid, there isn't a word for it!

  • @xxLexaBOOxx does it really matter where you are from, or how old you are?

  • @JimmiWhitcher count the likes, go figure

  • @xxLexaBOOxx

This humour isn't just British, because if it were people from other nations wouldn't enjoy it. It's just humour. The sad fact is that tv, & movies today are aimed at the populace who are blessed with a just below average iq. This is so that ratings, and profits will be good. Yes you can now get: High definition, CGI, 3D, surround sound, Dolby Klingon, Smellyvision, and whatever. At the end of the day, anyone with an iq higher than their shoe size should be thankful for YouTube.

  • @xxLexaBOOxx you're an american, and you're 13... RIP fatso

  • @xxLexaBOOxx Good lad ,now look up Monty Pythons flying circus. You will not be disappointed.

  • "I'm an English teacher, not a homosexual" is probably the best line in this.

And calling Hugh Laurie House is like calling Stephen Fry Reaver.

  • @Sandshark43 Yes but we all know Stephen Fry secretly is Reaver though. I reckon he has chambers of strange beasts under his house. LOL

  • i love the way that stephen say "bowie" lol

  • Fry's part is overwritten, like he's attempting to channel John Cleese. Fry's best when he's just being Fry.

  • Was this skit pre-written, or improv?

  • @Crunchy68

    Pre-written and carefully rehearsed,

  • Scrotal threats unhorse a question of flowers

I asked for answers and got a head full of heroin in return

When time fell swenking to the floor, they kicked in his teeth

My body disgusts, damp grease wafts sweatballs from sweatballs and thigh fungus

Unhappy bubble of annal wind popping and winking in the mortal bath

A girl strips in my mind, squeezes my last pumping drop of hope and rolls me over to sleep alone.

Fireball the dead cities of the mind and watch the skin peel and warp!

  • Inked Ravens of Despair Claw Holes in the Arse of the World's Mind:

  • 'Derek Bowie'

  • Hugh Laurie is known as Dr. House in America thats why everyone in America calls him House. Yes his name is Hugh Laurie and he was in other films and shows but he is know as Dr. Gregory House. I love Hugh Laurie hes the funniest and most hansome actor i know and the fact that he has a british accent drives me nuts i love it

  • @cheezpuff18 only some Americans think of him as House.

  • Wow, so young looking Hugh. Brilliant actor. Completely relaxed with all of his characters.

  • To sum it up: poetry is a virus and young school boys spread it. :D

  • BOWie? BOWie?

  • fry > laurie

  • @woudyman2 your point is?

  • Stephen Fry IS a homosexual... Just wondering how many people knew that when watching this.

  • @EllSieMovies Thanks for that offensive generalizing remark about us. I suppose you didn't bother to think that there ARE some of us who giving a flying f*** about culture, history, etc., and that maybe some of us actually DO know who these actors are because we've grown to love them through watching them on DVD, BBC America, YouTube, etc.

    Good day.

  • Hugh Actually looks better now :D

  • sadly enough if house was a teen I could see him writing this poem. Either way these guys are awesome

  • Is that the guy that plays "House"?

  • @gr8fzy1 Yes it is. He's a very very funny British guy.

  • "I'm an English teacher, not a homosexual." Signature Fry humor right there!

  • but he is a homosexual!!! hahahaha

  • @templar19 You could not get away with that line if you weren't a homosexual in the first place!

  • @templar19 And funnily enough he IS a homossexual.

  • @templar19 but in real life, it's true!

  • I love Laurie as Prince George.

  • holy fuck @.@ i just realized how much Ricky Gervais looks like a young Stephen Fry!

  • unhappy bubble of anal wind...

  • Comment removed

  • omg...Mr. Laurie looks so different then he does now.....WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!

  • I love Hugh Laurie...he is really the only reason I watch HOUSE - probably my favorite actor

  • aahahaha, I love it!!

  • You're fifteen years old, Terry, what's going on?!

  • Laurie totally looks like a kid

  • I'm an English teacher, not a homosexual xD

I remember when they did this on "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" =)

  • Crying with laughter at "I can't pretend to be much of a judge of literature I'm an English teacher not a homosexual"

  • do you know what would sell like hotcakes? Stephen Fry plushies. ooh i want one!

  • I love how Fry says "Bowie, Bowie"

  • been watching a bit of fry and laurie for years now and they always succeed in putting a smile on my face. Brilliant :)

  • I don't get why people get angry when someone recognizes Hugh Laurie as "House." I think it's great that he's getting more exposure and international fans. I'm glad there are more people who like him enough to look up his old work.

  • Young hugh laurie is actually....cute.

  • what a great piece!

  • I'd love either of them as an English teacher, I'd definitely pay attention in class.

I'm so sick of people commenting with 'It's House!' or 'House looks so young!'.. He has a name, it's Hugh Laurie.

Why can't you Americans choose from what you already have instead of stealing the seriously few visionaries we own away? One thing that's certain is Fry stays with us.

  • @GoneWithTheSinners = "Why can't you Americans choose from what you already have instead of stealing"

    This coming from an Englishman.

  • @kuzuboshii English woman, I'm afraid so.. I sounded like a bitch in that comment didn't I? I apologise, I think he's actually doing pretty well in the US. My anger needed to be vented and this was the victim at the time..

  • @GoneWithTheSinners No worries, at least you realized your faux pas and amended, that makes you more mature than 99.9... percent of youtube (commentor)sic

  • @kuzuboshii That's a relief haha.

  • This poem is deep :)

  • hugh laurie is so hot!

  • Definitely good. I like it.

  • Hugh is soooo adorable!! Just wanna hug him, bless him and Fry ;)<3

  • hugh looks so young here, *sigh*

  • "Is there life on mars Major Tom" made me lol :D

  • they look so young, and their heads so well covered with hair!!

  • Hugh is really a great comedian!!

  • @amsoemq it's England in the 80s. we're modestly polite, that amount of laughter is considered an amazing sketch lol!

  • i love these guys!!!

But then again, i love david bowie, and they said his name wrong ( sorry to be picky )

and also loved the quotations from him :)

  • @STIXtwentythree they probly couldnt get the rights to his name.

  • @STIXtwentythree It was mispronounced on purpose.

  • @Rutterkind i dont think so, it would have been fine if they had used the correct way or the way they used, aslong as it was funny to the audience.

  • @STIXtwentythree It WAS mispronounced on purpose.

  • @UDRF Okay fine w.e.

either way it was funny right!

  • @STIXtwentythree agreed ;)

  • I love these guys, and I'm a huge Bowie fan. So this was quite a treat!

  • Madonna - Hugh Laurie. UH who would choose madonna? Laurie is proud to be English anyway.

  • Acoustics there are terrible.

  • Bloody americans thinking Hugh Laurie is thier house. NO just NO. It's Hugh Laurie- and he is english and forever will be

  • Relax, lot of us are aware of that. Of course, those who are not very well might have better things to do than research TV stars' backgrounds. As far as Laurie is concerned, I would bet that he has seen more money from his role of House than from his other work. I doubt he is complaining. Sort of like people knowing Rowan Atkinson only as Mr. Bean or Johnny English. Are they missing out? Absolutely, but if one doesn't want one's name associated with a piece, why take part in it?

  • You said it all. About time someone did.

  • I'm so glad every Fry and Laurie sketch descends into babble about houses and how Americans don't appreciate them. It really doesn't bother me at all. I mean we came to these videos to laugh why shouldn't we discuss how we feel about Hugh Laurie realizing America is a superior nation and going to live there. That's really important for us to talk about.

  • if you really want to go down that road, rabbitwho, be prepared to lose.

  • Sorry, we're keeping him. You can have Madonna back if you'd like.

  • @lolixoOo Tell me about it mate.

  • @lolixoOo

Yeah, well so we're the Americans once... until they moved to America.

  • @CynicalThought Haha that is true.

  • god they look so young

  • Hugh is so cute in this one oh my God.

  • this is good

  • Stephen Fry looks so weird in this cllip.

  • must have been a little warm on that stage...

  • "Unhappy bubble of anal wind"!! XDD!

  • He is not House.. he has his own name.. It's not so difficult - Hugh Laurie

  • hey, you think so!? check out his shoes, they're housistic xD

  • @sllaveq I agree, he is sooo much more than that character.... he is a brilliant comedian and musician

  • @sllaveq Don't bitch just because you're not a House fan.

  • @Mastodamus you are extremely stupid. if you were a versatile actor, as well as an author and an all around person (i can't give an example, 'cause you're obviously a failure at life), but would you want someone to refer to you exclusively and forcefully as one thing? no.

hugh laurie is a person, who is more than the sum of his parts, and definitely more than just one part.

  • @LeftyHandedGuns Ummmmmmmm....Call me crazy, but I don't recall saying any of that. I told you not to bitch because you don't like House. SO DON'T BITCH. I'm a failure at life? You're obviously an egotistical dumbass to be so quick to judge someone you don't even know. Go be full of yourself you pathetic piece of shit. You act like you fucking know Hugh Laurie. True he is an amazing actor but I'm positive if he heard someone talking shit about you he wouldn't say a God Damn word. Fuck you.

  • @sllaveq "Hugh Laurie, whose real name was Hugh Laurie, was better known by his stage name... Hugh Laurie."

  • @sllaveq I am pretty sure that Lara Croft married Sinbad, didin't she !? :-D

  • @sllaveq He is Hugh Laurie, or to use his stage-name, Hugh, LAUrie.

  • @sllaveq He is House, and Rowan Atkinson is Blackadder.

  • @sllaveq

    aka house..... :D

  • @sllaveq "Hugh Laurie, whose real name was Hugh Laurie, was better known by his stage name, Hugh Laurie." XD

  • Fry is saying "I'm not a homosexual." ?!

  • :D love the david bowie allusions =)

  • "it's my title" sounds so much like "it's my name" in your name sir? :P

  • Hugh Is so damn cute (inlove)

  • "Inked ravens of dispare. . . . "

    Definitely an Emo.

  • "dispare"

definately someone needs to learn to spell :P

  • @Kharkidevil

    Difinitely *we* do. LOL

  • Ouch true point :P well played, draw?

  • @Kharkidevil

See? Even when I tried to tease you about definitely I spelled it wrong! That's OK, life is a series of humiliations.

    Draw!

I promise to hold my dictionary tighter, even my thesaurus has been mocking me. :-)

  • definately?

is this a joke or are you a hypocrite?

  • Fry is all wet there! Perhaps he was nervous?

  • no. Its hot in there..all projectors and stuff...

  • Aah, school!

  • 3:30, lol "you're 15 terry whats going on!?"

  • stephen looks ill! Maybe it's because on stage but somehow he looks feverish.

  • epic derek bowie references at 5:35
