You're right, the song is silghtly downtuned. Downtuning helps vocalists with a lower vocal range, I guess it helps james to plow through an entire set. Another band that did that in their prime was Scorpions. Their "World Wide Live" album was downtuned compared to the studio versions. Glad you checked the video out!

Mora than the age, it's James vocal range, which never was quite that high. Playing it half a tone lower makes it a bit easier, but yeah, I know what u mean. Scorpions did the same on "World Wide Live", all the songs were tuned half a tone lower.

Also the albums between the black album and death magnetic were all tuned half a step down. they could have different guitars for the songs that are tuned standard, and those tuned down, but why do so? Probably also helps with James' vocal range.

The audio for that crowd chant is more prominent on the original audio from the video shoot. In the MP3 mix that part sounds too low, so hopefully this new mix evens things out. Cheers mate!
