  • What happened to Beat This! A Hip Hop History (1/6)? I searched for it but didn't find it.

Anyways thanks for posting this up. Brings back fond memories of the early 80's

  • i've got it mate...if you want it I can upload it somewhere for you.

  • @curleedaddee wmg or whatever blocked ti on copyright grounds.

  • hiphop rulez

  • i been down wid hip hop since 84...and wat malcoms chattin here is pure legendary...i wish i was there in them days to see that shit, just like the end jam in wild style. I LOVE HIP HOP!

  • Malcoms a twat!! He gets too much credit for bringing the sound to Britain. If you were in the know we had whodini, tyrone brunsons the smurf, flash, planet patrol etc way before the buffalo thing came around

  • at leat he bought real hiphop to britain, not the club nonsense that faggot tim westwood has brought

  • I remember westwood doing pirate stations in 1981..he may act like a bit of a fool but he was down from the start..for that alone he deserves respect..forget the image for a minute and see what hes done to bring it over here..i dont know your age or your location but where was you hearing hiphop?

  • i'm sure tim was doing the right thing for hiphop back in the early to late 80's,but the last decade he's been spinning nothing but trash.i just don't understand a grown azz man lovin' fake hiphop for the 14-21 year old demographic.

that's why i respect malcolm more,he made classic records like buffalo gals and hobo scratch with the world famous supreme team. i was 10 years old back then from amsterdam and still love it!

he also collaborated with dj aladdin in the early 90's,he kept it real.

  • I agree he plays a load of shit nowadays but so do most dj's playin hiphop on the radio..hot 97 included..westwood plays what 90% of the buying audience want and its 99% bullshit!..its a sign of the times the music has become pop now unless your a true head and still love the underground.....malcom is like an fashionista..he touched punk then hiphop but you could never associate him to producing or making true hiphop

  • Im not fan of westwood, or hip hop now, but westwood was the man back in the days of LWR, and then later Kiss.

His shows were legendary, and i wish i still had them old tapes of the 80's!

  • 1:52

  • 2:02 that is some bad ass windmills, does anyone know who he is?

  • Probably Ken Swift by the looks of it, though maybe Kuriaki (but I doubt it).

  • Powerful Pexter - NYCB, he went first in the Beat Street battle.

  • Comment removed

  • THANKS FOR THAT!

  • Jazzy jay spins "I can't Stop" by John Davis, Pexter, Lil Lep, Glidemaster and Icey Ice rock the floor.. AKA The NYC Breakers...

  • The Beat sounds like "I cant stop".. but, is that the sample he is scratching in 2:10 - 2:45??? I didn't hear the scratch part in "i cant stop" only the break. Please Help!!

  • The break he does backspins with 1:40 - 1:55 is John Davis and the Moster Orch - I can't Stop. The break at 2:12 is Black Grass by Bad Bascomb.
