  • killer!

  • the sound and their stage presence is completely intoxicating

  • Just awesome!

  • Go to the website ioffer.com and type in US Music Festival 1983 Berlin...you can buy a DVD that has all the songs they sang at the festival!

  • met them in Fla after party, also..maybe the same lol!!!

  • Was the announcer at the beginning Richard Blade? Sounded like him! What a flashback!

  • @mlukas It is Richard Blade. I play in and 80s band now and we do events with Richard. What an 80s encyclopedia he is. Still looks the same. See our page. There is a picture of us and him.

  • I have inside info that they were often happy together onstage, but were busy maintaining that remote '80s look. US Fest '83 ROCKS FOREVER.........

  • Everytime I hear this song, it gives me the goosebumps and the happy feeling...especially this live version of it. Man..I miss the 80's.

  • All 80s music was good. As for 'sellouts'...almost everyone is one; one way or another! This is the way it is

  • @pme1967 Ok You go listen to your Culture Club ,Bananna Rama , And countless others That I don't remember the names to ( And could care even less ) The worst decade in music history is the 80's . And the attitude that Everyone is a sellout . That was Not the way it was I and I don't belive so even now . LOTS of indies making better music than a majority of stuff from the 80's . Better still, they have TALENT and ears .

  • @kbdevo1962 please tell me then why do so many of todays musicians borrow from that decade? This lady GAHGAH borrows all the time. Dont get me wrong....I like a lot of the music that came from the 90s the aughts etc but still like the 80s as a whole. As for "they have TALENT and ears", well...that is debatable. Ciao

  • @pme1967 Try Jamendo or Last.FM . I have found many very good artists that are so much better than the junk on commercial radio . Lady Ga Ga is a joke to me . Can't stand the name , Or anything . Madonna had a ton more talent ., And I couldn't stand her either . Jamendo Is a great site to discover new talent . Everything is under creative commons license . And anything you listen to there is available for free download . I highly suggest it . Tags are used slightly different but work .

  • Not " all " of the 80's bands rocked . As a matter of fact many of the " 80's " bands were sellouts especially the hair bands . They all sounded the same ,They all dressed alike , And that Mullet was a horrible fashion statement . If they didn't make a hit " Power Ballad " They were finished before they begun . I hate power Ballads because of the " 80's" Most music from that era was really bad . ( Note - I did not say all )

  • @kbdevo1962 Well Said and that is why the Seattle music scene and bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana put that era of bad music to rest. Personally I think the early mid 90's was the best. You had the Seattle sound of Pearl Jam and Nirvana. LA alternative sound of STP over in England we had Radiohead. and down south we had the Black Crows. Oh and how could I forget down in Miami we had Marilyn Manson that scared John Crawford during the VH1 bands reunited.

  • First time I heard "Sex" on an underground college radio station I went out and bought Pleasure Victim. Not long after, Metro and this song started getting major airplay. Another "I told you these guys will be big someday".

  • "Pleasure Victim" rules.

  • I was there for this. A bunch of us did the road trip down from Northern Cal.

A great festival. Bothe years, 82 and 83.

No fights there, no douche bags in TapOut shirts, just a good time.

    I miss those days.

  • I agree with you Anthony11598....I was in my late teens/early twenties during the 80's. Today's music is bland and boring, but you notice all the ripoff pieces of 80's songs in today's music. Shows how much lack of imagination singers have today and need "old school" to help them out....and they still suck!

  • @canem It all depends on where you are listening to your music . I can assure you that todays music is NOT bland and boring in MANY different genres . You just cant rely on Commercial radio stations to give you decent music . They play whats POP at the time . If it gets the most listeners , it'll make Oodles of cash . They don't care if it's good . Same watching Jerry Springer . It sells , Thats all that counts . You need to spend time at places like Last.FM or Jamendo

  • @canem Ahem !! Every single band looks to Old school . Whether they were innovative or not . One of the most talented bands in the World "RUSH" looked to bands like Led Zepplin for inspiration . And there were plenty of songs that lacked ingenuity from the 80's . Not a lack of talent . But a lack of the ability to say NO to the record companies . (Gotta love that all mighty dollar !)

  • yeah the guy playing the keyboards was pretty lucky.. during the concert terri sat on top of him and pushing his head between her legs and she later explained in an interview that she wasn't wearing any panty's.

this really was one of the best concerts i have ever seen in my whole live, van halen was there, berlin, motley crue, a flock of seagulls. every great band from the 80's really;)

  • Ahhhhhhh great memories. I was a sophmore in college and a bunch of us made the drive down to Socal for this event. What a road trip. Thank you for uploading this.

  • love the way terri walks at 1:29. she should have been bigger than madonna but radio wouldn't even play the "sex i'm a ..." song.

  • I loved this show. It was hot as hell. But, worth it. I love Berlin.

  • Again, now where's Tell Me Why and Sex? C'mon man!!!

  • this US festival was on classic vh1 in november but it only had one airing. 500,000 people show up and classic vh1 doesn't air this concert hardly ever.

  • i don't know about him being gay, but i like him and he still looks good. i prefer the dark haired guy in the gray suit to Terri's right. i don't know who he is, though.

  • It is funny becuase when berlin made that Sex song they really where the Mayriln Manso of the 80's but fast forwad to the VH1 reunion and now JC is a conservative christen living in the OC. He became everything he was against back in the early 80's. So why did the Drummer Rob L leave the band and not come back and what really happened for the rest of band too? was it John C or Terri that really broke the band up?

  • John Crawford decided that he had enough of "Hollywood" Back in '86.

Remember when all the radio stations were broadcasting this "Breaking" news.

This is what they reported, and I'm repeating this verbatim.

"The founding member of Berlin, John Crawford anounced today that he is gay."

    This was in '87.

All us Berlin fans shrugged, and said duh...

Seems "Hollywood" didn't like John being a Gay man and shunned him.

So he left HIS band to enjoy a quiet happy life.

  • Lol i work for John crawford these days, he is married and has 3 kids. i dont think he is gay ive known him for 3+ yrs

  • The local Radio station that I was listening to over 20 years ago reported that John came out of the closet! As a matter of fact it was big news on all the radio channels in the Metro Detroit area.

Since I never really gave a crap, I didn't do any fact checking, and forgot all about it till I wrote that post.

Crap, now I'm just like the mass media...

Spreading rumors and lies from questionable sources.

I Apologize and thank you for setting the record straight mrjdodo.

  • hes not gay him and terri had a relationship going for a long time that is why the band broke up, they ended up breaking up.

  • Never seen the VH1 thing.

But I can tell you this, John left first.

  • I always thought it hilarious the band is in black tie and here comes Terri, she just got up! Does anyone have Tell Me Why from the US Fest, with the unfortunate drum stick incident?

  • These clowns that come in here and make fun of these 80s bands are retarded. What are they listening to? The Jonas brothers or William Hung or some crappy new rap video featuring the same old shit lyrics. This band and the 1980s fn rock and don't forget it, it's fact, simple fact. All the 80s bands rocked. So go listen to your fn Ipod and all that fn new garbage. It's fn horrible. I can't stress it enough. Rock on Berlin.

  • Yep

  • Well consider the source of who it is that is bashing the 80's. When I was a teenager in the 80's I bashed the 60's. Come to think about it I still do. These 80's groups are the best and the music was fantastic. It brings back memories. This was our music and let the kids of today listen to the crap that they call music. (I can't believe that I ever got old enough to say that!}

  • Actually Berlin did lip sync I just watch on here a Live TV special for No more Words done in 1984. If you listen to there performance then compare it to the Album version there is no difference. But seriously Do any of you think that the band mates had a three way with Terri and did Cuff links?

  • I couldnt agree more....popular music...has lost much of its soul...you dont even have to have talent....just look like a prostitute and lyp sych alont...pathetic...As somenoe who was very young in the 80's, I used to make fun of the decade, however now that i'm a bit older I realize that the 80's were probably one of the most inventive times for rock music...

  • @Anthony11598 they listen to Lady Caca, who is cleary more original than Berlin

  • @eisenkreuzmusik Madonna ruined music not Lady Gaga.

  • @BrickLaneBetty there's more than one to blame. Gaga isn't helping

  • @eisenkreuzmusik No Madonna is THE ONLY ONE TO BLAME!

As a woman I see what music was like before Mange:

Runaways, Heart, Janis, Grace, Pat Benatar, Motels, Berlin, Lone Justice, Debbie Harry, Pretenders, Missing Person, Fanny, Linda Ronstadt

Post Madonna: Spice Girls, Britney, Katy Perry, Rhianna, Pussy-cat Dolls, Ke$ha, The Hills slut culture.

  • @BrickLaneBetty Saying Madonna is responsible is like saying the rooster is responsible for the sun coming up. Rock music pretty much ran out of new ideas. Disco (for a time), rap, and pop music filled the void.

  • @4teepee wtfToday you have Taylor Swift, Pink, Britney, Rihanna, Ke$ha, X-tina, Katy Perry and Gaga with many of the aforementioned names going into their SECOND decade. In the late 70's you had Pat Benatar, Linda Ronstadt, Blondie, Stevie Knicks, Joan Jett Chrissie Hynde (all of whom still work today and are household names) FROM 85 to 95 ALL YOU GOT WAS CUNTDONNA.

  • @4teepee YET name one NON RnB female singer from 1985 to 1995 (lillth faire era or thereabouts) who was allowed more than one or two hits and who is still here? You can't! Not one! ALL YOU GOT FOR TEN YEARS WAS MADONNA,

  • @BrickLaneBetty That does not make it Madonna's fault.

  • @4teepee ??? If you were the most famous person in that era and you shat on all other female performers, acting like a catty defensive bitch as madonna did then yes it does. Madonna and the media killed the concept of women fronting bands-Gwen Stefani- a madonna clone-is the only one they let through. How old are you? you need to read more about pop culture.

  • @BrickLaneBetty Your conspiracy theory notwithstanding, they all front bands. They aren't singing a cappella. The fault, Dear Betty, is not in Madonna; it is in rock.

  • @eisenkreuzmusik as far as Berlin NOT being original...who did they copy?????

  • These fn guys are rocking! The music today eats ballsac. Rock on 1980s!

  • show me a cooler 80's band than Berlin.

    I dare you.

  • I love Berlin, I grew up with the pleasere Victim album. one off the best, it is still today one off my favorit albums.

And :o) I was always a big Fan off Terri Nunn. Great Times that never comes back.

  • so chris velasco-the dude that wrote this and played with berlin...teaches english at cal state fullerton! i had no idea it was him till some students said it was-he's amazing!

  • I was at this show. Ah, the memories. The 80s, New-Wave and good times, not the shit that's now.

  • Wow thanks for uploading. I was at this show don't remember much though I was pretty blitzed. We were pretty close to the stage too. I do remember the parking being horrific took some 4hrs to leave the nonexistent prkng.

  • i love how everybodys danceing in here and i totaly love terri nunns hair style! she is so the queen of newwave!

  • That keyboard player with the white striped hair needs to take some tranquilizers and sit the f#ck down!

  • @1wonderdrift Haha you remind me of Muse mocking Slipknot. SIT... THE FUCK... DOWWWN!

haha, John Crawford was only having a good time onstage, what would you rather he did?

Grab a chair and play piano?

  • @Jarren202 After reviewing the said comment, my girlfriend agreed with you. I was being a Youtube asshole. Instead of rooting on musical spiritedness, I chose instead to point and mock and make fun of. Another case of self-centered "let's look at everyone else's flaws" syndrome. Glad you pointed this behavior out. I wouldn't want someone saying those things about me if I were pouring my soul out to the stadium. Good job Mr. Jarren.

  • @1wonderdrift Classy response in a mea culpa.

  • this is one of the FEW clips that they look happy together on stage! ... what a great band and fantastic first album!

i had the pleasure of meeting them in florida back in the day, we talked synths and hung out on the bus, it was awesome!

  • I was there with my sister, mom and dad! haha

  • fuckin rocks!!

  • Do you know if they have a DVD or VHS for the Live 83 festival?
