Seyesha never has to scream to reach a high note and sounded better than Fantasia in general. I need to turn my ipod volume down when listening to Fantasia XD On the song itself, Seyesha is unfortunate in not having 4mins to perform. You need that time to build the emotion layer by layer. One thing I agree with Simon, Yes, Fantasia has that spilling emotion and advantage over Seyesha because she sang this song when she won AI. Not to mention the song itself really tells Fantasia's life story.
These judges know nothing. This is just one instance of proof of that. This was a vocally flawless. Syesha is a professional - she has amazing tone, pitch, and gives great face throughout all of her performances.

The judges were so unfair. Fantasia sang the entire song, while Syesha only got to sing half of it. The key difference is that Syesha did not sing the "Love keeps lifting me higher" part. That is by FAR the best and most emotional part of the song! Syesha definitely had as much emotion as Fantasia in the parts that both of them sang. Emotion needs to be built over the course of a song, and it's completely unfair to compare the emotion of any 2 minute version to any 4 minute version.
i firmly believe tamyra gray helped write this song for fantasia, therefore it is fantasias song til the end of the world, howwever, she did very well.

She's a really good singer that really didn't get a whole lotta credit. She can hold notes for a really long time and do whistle notes (which like only around maybe 3 people on idol have done). Maybe she didn't put enough emotion in her songs or something and that's why they didn't give her much credit. Cause based on just her voice she was one of the best singers to be on the show. And this totally amazed me.
I understand where the judges are coming from. Syesha sang the crap out of the song, and technically the vocals were just about perfect, but she didn't lose herself and completely let go like Fantasia. Personally, I'd rather buy a CD from Syesha, but I would see Fantasia live cause she's got the passion.

I partly agree with you! But this song really needs to for crazy emotion after Fantasia's interpretation. Fantasia always puts emotion to any song no matter whose song is, Just look at "I'm here", Somebody loves you, Summertime. The person singing has to bring the emotion. Allison did it with her version of Alone and her vocals don't compare to Carries or Anne.
This is not a show to find the best voice but the next great singer that will connect with the audience.
well i mean if you consider what Allison did to Alone filled with emotion, which means she got into it, put her all in it, then technically Syesha did put emotion into it. She was workin the stage! You can see her face as she hits the notes. So i don't know... oh well i don't care

The judges were so harsh to syesha they like never really gave her a break, and she was flawless like every performance. as far as the technical aspect goes, I thought this was way better than fantasia, and the "emotion" it lacked might be attributited to the fact that Fantasia was in the finale at the time which obviously is going to be loaded with emotion due to the nature of a finale. If you compare the vocals of the two, Syesha's was way better.
The judges need to remember that this is a singing competition NOT a comparison contest! Syesha did an awesome job on this and I loved it better than Fantasia!
While fat Randy had a point when he castigated Syesha for selecting a song performed by an American Idol winner, he sank back into ineptitude when he told her the whole thing was OK compared to Fantasia.

it's not about who's the best technical singer. if that were that case, doolittle would have won over jordin sparks b/c the judges knew she was the better singer. charisma and the ability to connect with the audience/show emotion are just as important as vocals and syesha doesn't have that. she doesn't move me. fantasia sang this song with passion. anyway, carly has the best technical voice
Haven't you been watching the show for the last 4 weeks? Syesha has been the one to connect with the audience as well as the song the most. Syesha did show emotion on the song. It just had a complete different meaning to her than it did for Fantasia. Watch the video in the beginning, Syesha's emotion was more happiness and hope, Fantasia's was more "I made it"
but that's not real emotion. all she does is smile at the crowd. anyone can smile or put on fake emotion but not everyone can FEEL a song. case in pt, i watched whitney perform a song at the welcome home concert on youtube then watched regine velasquez sing it. though regine did all the necessary movements that are meant to portray emotion, i felt nothing from her b/c she wasn't FEELING it. when whitney sang it, i felt like the music was running through her body. syesha doesn't have that ability

Syesha has YET to get the respect, proper critique and respect from the judges on this show. It seems as though she's only there to fill time, and it saddens me because she is so deserving. Granted, her tone is mediocre at best but compared to the other contestants she's in her own league. She also takes risks, more so than Kristy and Carly. Last week she dared to show off her range and now with this performance she managed to croon an unexpected whistle note. Hopefully she'll be save this week.

Maybe she didn't put enough emotion in her songs or something and that's why they didn't give her much credit. Cause based on just her voice she was one of the best singers to be on the show. And this totally amazed me.

I understand where the judges are coming from. Syesha sang the crap out of the song, and technically the vocals were just about perfect, but she didn't lose herself and completely let go like Fantasia. Personally, I'd rather buy a CD from Syesha, but I would see Fantasia live cause she's got the passion.

i actually thought that syesha is better than david archuleta, i remeber during the top 3 week the producer shafted her to loose the competition when they chose a mediocre song for her to sing.

I partly agree with you! But this song really needs to for crazy emotion after Fantasia's interpretation. Fantasia always puts emotion to any song no matter whose song is, Just look at "I'm here", Somebody loves you, Summertime. The person singing has to bring the emotion. Allison did it with her version of Alone and her vocals don't compare to Carries or Anne.
This is not a show to find the best voice but the next great singer that will connect with the audience.

well i mean if you consider what Allison did to Alone filled with emotion, which means she got into it, put her all in it, then technically Syesha did put emotion into it. She was workin the stage! You can see her face as she hits the notes. So i don't know... oh well i don't care

I personally thought Syesha sang it alot better than Fantasia did. Fantasias voice is husky and off pitch. But you can tell Fantasia put alot more emotion in to the song. I thought Syesha was amazing why didnt they she was an incredible singer.

The judges were so harsh to syesha they like never really gave her a break, and she was flawless like every performance. as far as the technical aspect goes, I thought this was way better than fantasia, and the "emotion" it lacked might be attributited to the fact that Fantasia was in the finale at the time which obviously is going to be loaded with emotion due to the nature of a finale. If you compare the vocals of the two, Syesha's was way better.

While fat Randy had a point when he castigated Syesha for selecting a song performed by an American Idol winner, he sank back into ineptitude when he told her the whole thing was OK compared to Fantasia.

Fantasia style was touching, it gave you chills, this performance although it was good their were no chills, meaning she did not sing it with feeling or passion. And this quality makes a not a good singer but an EXCELLENT singer

i mean hello ?!?!?!! all of us have no originality because we were influenced by some superstars with some of their styles

it's not about who's the best technical singer. if that were that case, doolittle would have won over jordin sparks b/c the judges knew she was the better singer. charisma and the ability to connect with the audience/show emotion are just as important as vocals and syesha doesn't have that. she doesn't move me. fantasia sang this song with passion. anyway, carly has the best technical voice

Haven't you been watching the show for the last 4 weeks? Syesha has been the one to connect with the audience as well as the song the most. Syesha did show emotion on the song. It just had a complete different meaning to her than it did for Fantasia. Watch the video in the beginning, Syesha's emotion was more happiness and hope, Fantasia's was more "I made it"

but that's not real emotion. all she does is smile at the crowd. anyone can smile or put on fake emotion but not everyone can FEEL a song. case in pt, i watched whitney perform a song at the welcome home concert on youtube then watched regine velasquez sing it. though regine did all the necessary movements that are meant to portray emotion, i felt nothing from her b/c she wasn't FEELING it. when whitney sang it, i felt like the music was running through her body. syesha doesn't have that ability

You must be watching a completely different show. Fantasia is single mother who was raped and had a bad child hood and now she was about to win American Idol and become filthy rich of course she is gonna show MORE emotion. But to say Syesha didn't feel the song is ridiculous. It MEANT something completely different for Syesha. Maybe you should watch her video before she sang then you'll see the EMOTION that Syesha brought to the song. You people amaze me!!!

you must not read properly. as i said, you can do all of the necessary movements (smile at the crowd, sway your head, blah blah) and SOME ppl will feel it (obviously you are one of those ppl) but for those of us who can see past that (i would hope most ppl can. the judges could but maybe most ppl can't. i know i can), it's quite obvious that syesha is a boring singer w/no REAL emotion. i'll leave it at that. if you like fake emotion and fake connection, so be it

she's the dark horse of the competition. the judges want her gone even though she is definitely the best technical singer in this season and this season, in particular, is showing how rigged the show actually is. if archuletta gets pimped out anymore by that show and the judges i'll vomit.

Not to be racist but the judges have always promoted the black females to be the next diva, but they aren't because they don't sell. Wheres Melinda? or Fantasia? broadway... yeah time for idol to promote rockers like Carly and David Cook becuase they sell!

yup, so true. But Paula is the only one who gives her the credit that she deserves. I will be mad if syesha goes home before Kristy, Brook or jason Castro!!! she is much better than them. In my opinion she has even been more consistent than Carly.

Syesha has YET to get the respect, proper critique and respect from the judges on this show. It seems as though she's only there to fill time, and it saddens me because she is so deserving. Granted, her tone is mediocre at best but compared to the other contestants she's in her own league. She also takes risks, more so than Kristy and Carly. Last week she dared to show off her range and now with this performance she managed to croon an unexpected whistle note. Hopefully she'll be save this week.

i like her version than to fantasia because the song suited her sweet yet soulful voice unlike fantasia whi got a heavy and dramatic tone so i choose syesha over her and what was wrong with the judges all of the contestants dont have originality ...... they also idolize everyone duh !!!
