As soon as the song starts and you do the picking where you alternate between the E and the A strings, where you up pick the muted E but down pick the A, what type of picking technique is that called?

They're are not random rhythms, Some are in different timing, the first breakdown on this song goes from 5/4 timing to 6/4 for a measure then back to 5/4 then the transition is 3/4...then the second breakdown is 6/4...It's all in the timing...
how the friggin a do you alternate pick like that. im trying to learn to play this song right now. i know how to play the eleventh hour and composure but this one is driving me insane.

Hey what's August Burns Red guitar tuning? I'm currently tuned down to slipknot's drop b but would like to find a way to play ABR at slipknot tuning..it's probably alot harder, which is why i was just wondering what ABR tuning is lmao..(^_^)

@ terry101 Well he is palm muting the E string, and plays clean on the A, I don't think there is a name for this technique other than palm muting.

they play in dropped C. but i guess the only way to play an ABR song is to put a capo on the first fret and play every note one fret up.
