i have one question iv been trying to fill my colibri lighter for about an hour now without purging (had no idea what i was doing) i was wondering if i had messed it up in some way? if so whats the best thing to do to fix it?
anal smokers...just fill the thing, ive been using ronson butane in my cheap lighters, and expensive colibris without out issue for over a decade...purge and fill is a good point, but the fuels are all about the same...i might be wrong, but i haven't had a problem with ronson or KING fuel
Great video! I love how you explain HOW to do it, WHY each step is important, and the unique TIP of using a wooden match. Well thought out and executed video tutorial!!!
Does anybody know how to fix a lighter that can't hold a charge? I know it is the valve. I tried to work it a little with a match, as this guy said, but it still leaks, in literally 30 seconds. It is a Rowenta, if that helps.
I just found an old butane lighter I can't find any info on online.
The fill pin seems different than I've seen before. It's inset into the bottom and looks about 1/4 inch long, and the tip is angled as if it should puncture something. Seems normal other than that.
Do I just fill this lighter with the same kind of butane? Does this sound familiar? I don't know how old it is or what quality.
i have a colibri lighter for 6 months now and the flame does not go very high at all...when first got it and turned it to max the flame would be 2 or 3s now its a half inch or less all the time...i did all the steps you do during the video every fill. whats the problem?
I'm by no means a professional when it comes to messing around with these torch lighters but I do take mine apart to clean it and have successfully revived my 12 year old colibri dual torch lighter.
Mine was the same way in that the flame height was so small it could barely sustain itself to keep going. What I did was take out a small screwdriver from a jeweller's kit (you can find these kits at a dollar store equivalent, and removed the small restrictor plate on the flame height valve
With this you can now increase the height beyond what you could do before
Keep in mind that removing this plate can leave it open to damaging your lighter by twisting the valve more than it's 'supposed to do, and also can remove it entirely from the tank if you continue twisting it to the 'lower' area, creating quite a shock when all the butane comes out :)
@mickey01023 I think many have this problem and ppl normally answer with "you gotta fill your lighter with fuel" or "try to empty the air & butane out" or any other bullshit. Since you've had that lighter for 6 months theres definitely a build up of debris in the burner. Take compressed air and have it blast the debris out. Most of the time the debris seems invisible but it definitely works for me.
yo it's lighter jesus!

Well done video, and I am a firm believer in "purging" or "bleeding" definately is key to flawless function.

The bottom just says PAX Prince and it's gold.
Thanks for any help!
