I grew up in north east texas and was privilaged enought to see him in concert about 15 times, first time at the orange blossom in paris texas. He was the undisbuted king off the texas dance hall sound and is still very much played in honky tonks across texas to this day.

Yeah, I love ol' Gary and I've performed his songs hundreds of times in honky tonks around the country. One thing that helped make Gary's sound was the session guitarist who played on most of Gary's stuff. His name is Reggie Young...

Thanks for posting this, it's my favorite Gary Stewart song. He was an original--one of a kind. When you heard him there was no mistaking his voice, with anyone else. Unlike today---if you can wear jeans and a hat, maybe hold a guitar---then you can be on the radio.
