Rufus is a fucking screw up... I only use the best pilots.

I try to give Rufus and Shredder my missile mechs, which aren't really difficult to pilot, and SHOULD stay well back from the battle (though they don't...). Then I hire the pilots who are already the best of the list, and they're usually pretty good at taking care of the enemies before Rufus and Shredder can screw up too bad... I leave Rufus out once I enslave that Clan chick (who's really good).

Ah yes the Gladiator is the mini Dire Wolf. I usually ditch Shredder and Rufus right away as those dip$hits have a bad habbit of wrecking mechs and getting weapons blown off.

reflective armor is very effective on energy weapons but sucks on anything else

try reactive

which is the

jack of all trades armor

it changes depending on what hits it

Ferro-Fibrous is what you're thinking of, there. Reactive is basically the same as Reflective, but for projectiles rather than energy.
