Or like a gear type whining? If it sounds like something like gears, its probably the timing chains/tensioners/synchronizers that your hearing. Its a SOHC engine.
You could also be hearing the intake whistle when you accelerate moderately, thats because this engine is hungry for air.
Makes a little more sense now thanks.. You seem to be fairly knowledgable about these 4.0s i have one(standard) and was running it against a bmw and after my car seemed to be making a weird sound in the low gears any idea wtf it could be????
Dude, that is nice sound...where did you get it and how much did it cost? Did you have to buy a GT rear fascia? Or was it a cut? And do you keep your factory CATS ?
SCT tuner because ur car is set up for a single pipe and single exhaust
adding an xpipe and dual exhaust means you are gonna wanna tune it so it allows for flow which will result in more HP (around 5) and a better sound due to better flow
FYI I changed from the FRPP muffler to SLP loudmouths and I HIGHLY suggest doing it
MY car is a lot louder and more aggressive sounding like a mean V8
why do the 4.0s have that winning sound??

It's probably the intake.

Are you hearing the common IAC valve whining?

having trouble deciding between the borla's or the ford racing kit for my 08
any suggestions from personal experience?
reply to this and i'll check back later, thanks in advance!!!

definately go with ford racing, borla's are over priced and sound pretty bad on the V6, plus you can get your dealer to install the ford racing parts

how should i go about installing them get a new bumper or just cutting a hole out?
atomickilla 2 years ago
i'm buying a new bumper for my 08 v6. dealership said 230 to order it. He said it would come primed but i'd have to pay for the paint
i looked for a long time into an aftermarket bumper but i didn't want anything that looked gaudy. and most of them cost more anyway

u should look at ebay there's a lot of bumpers painted and primed at a low price, hope u can find it. good luck.

Yes, it comes with cutouts that look great, and the FRPP exhaust system sounds amazing also.
Just make sure you have clearance with the mufflers and the facia cutouts, or the metal will expand and create a little rattle.

all you have to do is just cut a hole
